DVD player tips
Over the course of time, dust may build up on the optical components or a thin, barely visible film may form over them. This may prevent the laser from reading the DVD.
Depending on the operating environment, regular inspection and maintenance are recommended every 1,000 hours of use.
To clean the optical components:
Disconnect the DVD player from the outlet.
1 2 Use a blower lens brush to remove dust or dried-on
grit.
Handling discs
Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold the disc by the edges so that fingerprints will not get on the surface.
Do not stick paper or tape on the disc.
Storing discs
After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat, or leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight, as it may get very hot inside the car.

Cleaning discs
Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from the center outward.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static spray intended for older vinyl records.

Troubleshooting
Issue Solution
No sound or distorted sound.
Cannot advance through a movie.
A stop icon appears on the screen.
Picture is distorted.
No forward or reverse scan.
IR sensor is not working.
Disc will not play. • Insert the disc with the label side facing up.
Playback starts, but stops immediately.
Make sure your DVD is connected properly. Make sure all cables are securely inserted into the appropriate jacks.
You cannot advance through the opening credits and warning information that appears at the beginning of movies because the disc is programmed to prohibit that action.
The feature or action cannot be completed at this time because:
• The discs software restricts it.
• The discs software does not support the
feature (e.g., angles).
• The feature is not available at the moment.
• You have requested a title or chapter number that is out of range.
• The disc may be damaged. Try another disc.
• It is normal for some distortion to occur during forward and reverse scan.
Some discs have sections that prohibit rapid scanning or title and chapter skip.
• Check the batteries in the remote.
• Make sure that the remote sensor is not obstructed.
• Make sure that the infrared transmitter is pointed toward the remote sensor.
• Check the disc-type. This DVD player only plays DVDs, audio CDs and MP3s.
• This player is a Region 1 device. Check the regional code of the disc. If the regional codes do not match, the disc will not play.
• The disc could be dirty. Clean the disc.
• Make sure that there is no condensation.
