3 - INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE - SUGGESTIONS FOR THE OWNER AND THE OPERATOR
- AUTOMATIC MACHINES -
This machine is designed and manufactured so as to be safely used by the operator, provided that it is properly operated. No protections will ever suffice if the operator does not work with due caution, if the machine is not kept in top operating conditions and if the instructions here below are not respected.
The machine is foreseen to make automatic working cycles after programming/adjusting the necessary working parameters. As a result of the adjustments you made, the machine works without further changing till the working process is finished (unless the raw material, you have to work, is at the end). So that there are moments in which the machine works manually, and moments in which it works automatically (in this case the presence of the operator is not necessary or consists only of watching the machine).
You must remember that the machine is designed to cut metals with a sharp tool, and you are responsible to control that it is operated in a SAFE and CORRECT way. You must :
1. Make sure that the machine is properly installed and right connected to the external sources of energy.
2. Be sure you are familiar with all operating, safety, and application information before operating this machine.
3. Do not expose yourself or other people to any risk, for example use eye glasses and gloves during the cleaning and moving of material.
4. Use proper personal protective equipments where required.
5. Keep and do not modify all safety devices installed by the factory, and make sure that these are never removed or altered or restricted in any way.
6. Make a regular maintenance of the machine and check often its complete working efficiency.
7. Never use tools with different dimensions than the minimum ones indicated.
8. Never cut materials with bigger dimensions than the ones indicated.
9. Keep cutting area free from tools or from other unnecessary objects.
10. Make sure that all guards are rightly placed before starting the machine on.
11. Use always clothes that cannot bring problems: Avoid wearing large sleeves, necklaces, chains, ties, too big gloves and any other objects that may get caught in the machine. Gather up long hair.
12. Disconnect always the plug from the supply socket during performing maintenances or adjustment operations.
13. Never approach or insert hands or body pats into or near cutting area when the band is running.
14. Check if the workpiece is rightly locked when you are using the automatic vice closing, and if the clamping pressure is right.
15. Support correctly the material by both cutting sides for evoiding the fall down and / or for driving into the discharge box.
16. If you cut very short pieces, make sure that they are not dragged by the blade and / or they do not jam with the blade.
17. If the blade becomes jammed, turn off power immediately by starting the emergency stop, then bring the cutting unit to the position CUT START. If it is not possible open the vice, remove the workpiece from the blade, check if the band or the teeth are broken, and replace it if necessary.
18. Do not change the working conditions during the cutting except for the conditions indicated in this instruction book (for example speed changing with ESC)
19. Do not move the machine while cutting.
20. Wear personal means of noise protection (head phones, plugs, an so on ) during the use of the machine.
ALWAYS OPERATE MACHINE SAFELY, USING COMMON SENSE AND ALERTNESS .

4 - MOVING AND TRANSIT
If the machine is contained in a protection cage, after taking away the packing material, control the machine entireness. The weight is written on the packing outside and it is in the technical data of this instruction manual too, in the paragraph 2. The monobloc floor stand also allows to make the displacement with a lift truck placed at the front side (from the position of the operator). In this case the " forks " of the lift truck must have a length equal or superior than 1 meter.
In some versions there are some plates fixed on the 4 angles of the floor stand; hook on these plates the end of the tools, suitable for lifting up the machine.
Make sure that lifting tools are proper for the weight and that the moving is correctly made without unbalancing the machine.
DO NOT USE THE MOVABLE ARM WITH THE CONTROL PANEL AS LIFTING UP POINT.
In case of newt manipulations, the machine should be displaced with the saw frame (or gear head) completely down and the feeding carriage should be placed nearly to the cutting unit (minimum stroke). The movable arm with control panel should be blocked by the proper spacer and by the handles, which must hinder the rotation.

63 HF 5 - INSTALLATION The machine can work in accordance with the parameters programmed by the manufacturer if it is rightly installed and the minimum following requirements are observed :
- The machine must be only used in sheltered place and with a temperature from 5 ° to 40° C.
- Relative ambient moisture not over 95 % .
- Electric energy with voltage included between + - 10% of nominal value and the frequency included between + 2% of nominal value.
- The floor must have good characteristics and must be in plane.
Overall dimensions on the floor, distances to observe and the located entry of the sources of energy are indicated in the included drawings: RI0159 for AF-E machines or RI0319 for AF-NC machines.. The working table must be levelled: by using some screws + nuts applied into the holes of the base of machine it is also possible to adhere the machine on the floor if necessary (for example if there are some optionals, as RTD for ex.).
The included electric and pneumatic schemes.report the necessary data to predispose the connections that have to tolerate a power of 4 Kw.
It is necessary to install at the supply cable a sectionalising switch specially if machine is equipped with the outer VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER.
DIFFERENTIAL PROTECTION for models equipped with electronic variable-speed drive unit (ESC) For the connection of the differential protection on the power supply line it is necessary to use switches with a threshold of interference on the power dissipation of not less than 300 mA (size 0.3 A or higher is recommended), having possibly time adjustment availability ( from 0 to 1.5 sec ab.).
This machine has been foreseen for industrial and not for household use. In the event that should be electromagnetic interferences the user is responsable for solving the problem together with the technical assistance of the manufacturer. Before installing the machine the user must take into account possible electromagnetic problems of the working area. In particular we suggest to install the plant away from:
- signalling, control and telephone cables; - radiotelevision transmitters and receivers;
- computers or controlling and measuring instruments; - safety and protection devices.

The VELOX automatic models are delivered with the movable control arm fixed inside the machine; to position it in the normal user’s position it is necessary to unlock the cutting unit and turn it at 0° cut position, unscrew and keep out the handle at the base of the movable control arm, turn this control arm anticlockwise (till the user’s position), screw the handle again to fix the required position.
N.B. All the VELOX models are already supplied with a conveyor that during the cutting catches a considerable quantity of chips / powders made by the cutting. The tool ventilation effect is agreed with the air flow direction that a suction plant (supplied as optional, for the models VELOX only) can produce. Anyhow the installation of a connection tube is helped by a circular nipple placed on the back side of the machine. For using the machine without connection tube you must consider where the machine is placed, so that you can reduce the danger due to the thown out little pieces or dusty on the walking areas .

- 6 - FITTINGS ASSEMBLING
The information necessary for the installation are given together with the fittings. Anyway you can find here following a short description of the product.
Supporting roller tables: for installing these accessories in the right way it is necessary first of all to level and fix the machine. These can be connected on both sides (loading / unloading). For very long workpieces adhere the pedestals on the floor and recycle the coolant transported by the workpieces that have to be cut. Take as reference point the worktable and the support back jaw in order to aligne the roller tables starting from the one that is nearest to the machine. If you need very long pieces fix the legs of the roller tables on the ground and recycle the coolant transported by the workpieces that have to be cut. If your working process require it, on the unloading side you can choose to use the roller table with manual measuring system (RTM); the one with digital measuring system (RTD) or only the roller table(RTS) also.
Additional pneumatic front vice - It is connected to the same line that feeds the front vice, it allows the locking of the piece from both sides only during the cutting at 0 deg. The VELOX 350 models are standard supplied with this additional vice that can also be used for mitre cuts.
Chip suction plant - for VELOX 350 machines only - It is possible to connect it to the machine so that it works in synchronism with the cutting movements. See the electric scheme to make such work, which should be done by specialized persons (electricians). It is provided with a switch for the electric energy and with a 3 mt flexible tube for the union to the coverblade carter; it’s better to reduce the tube lenght after the choice of position has made.
" V " jaws - necessary to rightly lock the pipes until 85 mm. of diameter by avoiding the deformation. They allow to increase the penetration speed by reducing the working time . They can only make you cuts at 0°. Make the holes if necessary, by using the template included in the assembling kit ; assemble them by following the instructions and place them into line by using for example a straight round, to guarantee a right passage of the bars. During the cut they are progressively shaped by the blade: if your working process don’t require a complete cut, leave them attached one to the other.
Blade speed variator ESC - this electronic device is an inverter that change continuously the revolution speed of blade motor and allows to cut a lot of different materials, from light alloys to hardened and inox steel. You can adjust the required speed by the pushbuttons of -1 or +2 speed on the control box. This device can save the blade from breakage, encreasing its life because stops motor immediately when electrical absorbtion exceeds the rated value. This optional has to be specified when you ordering the machine. If requested electric current is more than the
inverter is setted it stops immediatly, saving gear head transmission and belt inside: usually it is caused by the extreme cutting strain, by the too high speed start-up and so on . Switch the main switch off, wait for about 1 minute before starting it again.
Voltage transformer - set it between the electric equipment of the building and the electric supply of the machine. It allows to work with a different voltage than the standard one (that is 400V ).

7 - BLADE CHOICE
In this paragraph we suggest the type of blade to use for cutting and the material that must be worked. To get the best performance from this machine it is necessary to understand the right applications of the used tools and what you have not to do with them.
The blade to be used must have the following dimensions (in mm.): external diameter = 350 max./300 min. hole diameter = 32 or 22 mm.
thickness = 2,5 or 3 mm. (blade in HSS steel) thickness = from 3,2 to 4,2 mm. (blade with hard metal teeth)
Please note that the you can get the maximum cutting sizes by using the blade of maximum diameter.
For making a right cut it is also necessary to establish the pitch ( t ) or the suitable number of teeth ( z ). The blade must generally have the toothing as follows:
- close toothing for cutting thin materials, tubular and profiles (for example 108 teeth with a negative inclination for reducing the noise too !;)
- thin toothing for cutting solid materials or pieces that need a long piece of blade (for example 72 or 84 teeths with positive inclination for a better penetration inside the cutting piece);
By choosing the right one you can avoid a lot of working errors and you can get a good blade penetration and the necessary space for the chips.
If you cut more pieces at the same time, you must consider them as one piece (that is you have to consider the global size).
These general indications are necessary for a right choice. It can also be updated or changed by the user according to his personal experiences.

63 LH 8 - MACHINE SETTING FOR STARTING
Check that the machine has not clear damages or faults and control the standard equipment that includes the tools, fittings to carry out some adjustments, use and maintenance handbook. In case the machine is supplied with additional equipment make sure that it is adaptable to the machine. Inform immediately the reseller or the service staff about possible damages or faults before starting the machine. Remove the lifting plates (if present), the locking plate between the cutting unit and the floor stand, the spacer between the movable arm and the base of the machine. Place them again inside the floor stand. For opening the doors you have to loosen the lower hooks indicated in the picture- pos. 1 - dr. RI0345 and RI0165-. Remove the protective substances placed on the surfaces during the moving and transit by using cleaned and non-filamentous clorth or paper, and please check that there is no rust on the metallic parts.
In case of using compressed air jet always wear proper eye protection glasses.
Take out the chip tray from the right side of the floor stand and remove the possible objects that can obstruct the passage of the coolant. The parts in motion (band guides, trolleys, pivots, bearing support, bearing disc etc. ) are already lubricated, the reducer gear of the SIRIO 370 has the exact quantity of oil necessary for working. The pneumatic equipment, ready to start, includes an automatic lubricator capable to regulate the quantity of oil put in the circuit -dr.RI0344-. Then go on as follows:
8.1.1. - COOLING SYSTEM and BLADE ASSEMBLING SIRIO 370 AF-E
Prepare the cooling by mixing the cutting oil with water (the tank contains about 15 litres) in proportion of 1/10, 1/15 or according to the instructions of the supplier of the product. Pour out the obtained fluid in the tank from the back side of the floor stand - or directly between the work table and the base -pos.17/dr. Ri0345-.
In this case check that the chip tray and the tank are rightly placed.
Choose the blade caracteristiques following the indications of the previous table Unscrewing the little screw and remove the transparent part of the coverblade guard -pos.2/dr.RI0329- and the front sliding guard -pos.1/dr.RI0329 after. Unscrew the screw -pos.1/dr.RI0062 with right thread, remove the parts-pos. 2 and 3/dr.RI0062 and keep that the support surfaces are clean. Move back the nozzle of coolant -pos2/dr.RI0326- and the blade brush -pos.1/dr.RI0326 by unscrewing their screws;
to make it easy, probably you have to slide up/down the gear head by the pushbuttons of control panel: by this, mount the blade after the electrical and pneumatic connections are made
Put the blade -pos.4/dr.RI0062- by guiding the teeth in the rotation direction shown by the PRINTED ARROW -pos.5/dr.RI0326- on the coverblade guard and make the blade holes agree with the holes of the fixed flange -pos. 5/dr.RI0062-. Reassemble the closing flange -pos.3/dr.RI0062, the spring -pos.2/dr.RI0062 and the screw popos.1/dr.RI0062-. Before tighting the screw, please wheel the blade forward ( in the clockwise sense ) to cancel the being shake between the driving pin and the holes Adjust the position of the nozzle and of the blade brush, then lock their screws, see dr. RI0327.
Replace in its place the transparent protective part and the frontal sliding guard.
8.1.2. - COOLING SYSTEM and BLADE ASSEMBLING VELOX 350 AF-E
If necessary, by following the instructions of the supplier, prepare the coolant suitable for the cutting material because in some cases we suggest to cut by dry method. Fill the tank as above described for the model SIRIO 370 AF-E. Choose the blade following the instructions indicated in the previous paragraph. Rotate backsides the movable carter -pos.1/dr.RI0069- (inside of the fixed carter - pos.2/dr.RI0069) by loosing the outside armpos.3/dr.RI0069. Through the hole of the carter, with the tube spanner of 22 mm., unscrew the screw pos.1/dr.RI0070 of the left thread, take out the parts pos.2 and 3 dr.RI0070- and keep clean the supporting surfaces. Insert the blade on the spindle - pos.5/dr.RI0070 - by guiding the teeth towards the PRINTED ARROW - pos.2/dr.RI0069- placed on the carter.

14
Mount again the closing flange - pos.3/dr.RI0070, the washer - pos.2/dr.RI0070, and the screwpos.1/dr.RI0070-. To tighten strongly this screw it is necessary to slip in a little pin (for example one of
the supplied allen spanner ) in the hole placed under the spindle so that the blade holder shaft cannot rotate.
Replace the movable carter - pos.1/dr.RI0069 - in the initial position and fix it with the outside arm pos.3/dr.RI0069.
8.2 - PNEUMATIC CONNECTION The machine is supplied with the air treatment unit -dr. RI0344-, but it isbetter to connect it to a system provided at least with condensate discharger, with pipes correctly setted, at least with a pressure of 7/8 BAR. The consumption of air is about .6.Nl max. for each automatic full stroke cycle. The air filter-pos.4/dr.RI0344- has an automatic valve that cleans itself each time the air is connected/disconnected; the lubricator -ops.4/dr.RI0344- has a little screw that by a screwdriver can be adjusted to mix the right ratio of oil into air ( ab.one oil drop each 10/15 working cycle). To refill it, see OIL & LUBRICANT chart to find the right one.
8.3 - ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Verify that the voltage and the power frequency are compatible with the numbers reported on the plate with technical data (it is placed on the right side of the floor stand); a difference over 10% causes some working irregularities more or less manifested.
Connect the switch to a suitable socket CEE or replace it with that of normal use. We suggest you to let do this work to specialized persons (for example to electricians). The phasing performed by the manufacturer allows to get a right rotation of all motors by connecting the wires in the following order L1=R, L2=S, L3=T, anyway check as follows: (compressed air inserted, pressure not lower than 2 BAR, feeder-guard-pos. 3 / dr.RI0092- rightly closed )
a) if the EMERGENCY BUTTON is off, turn it on by rotating it 1/4 of turning in the indicated direction - pos-3 / dr.RI0345. b) push the button ON of the main switch placed on the side of the electric control, on the back side of the machine - pos. 2 / dr.RI0346 - (some lights turn on and the display -pos.4/dr. RI0345- shows numbers c) Verify that the selector - pos. 1/ dr. RI0346 - placed under tha main switch is on position “MARCIA” (for model SIRIO 370 AF-E only) d) Choose the motor speed by pushing the button -1 - pos. 11/dr. RI0055 -. e) Turn on O the cutting speed regulator - pos. 2 / dr. RI0345 or RI0165 -. f) Close completely the vice of the cutting unit and open for half turn again. g) Push the white button I of CYCLE START - pos. 20 / dr. RI0055 - and control that the spindle rotates in the direction of the PRINTED ARROW placed on the coverblade. If case the vice is not closed, you can read on the display the message of error ER0028 (see the following paragraph 9.3) and the spindle does not rotate.
For safety take out the blade and the flanges - pos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 / dr. RI0070 - from the spindle of
model VELOX 350 AF-E before pushing the button I (START).
In case the blade is rotating in the opposite direction, turn the machine off by pushing the general switch pos.2/dr. RI0346 -, disconnect the feeder plug, invert the connection of two of the wires of the line connection, except for the green / yellow grounding cable and start again from point b).
h) Be sure that the cooling is sucked in by the tank and that it reaches the cutting area (by turned on tap and only if the coolant pump is started). h) Stop the working by pushing the black button (0) - pos.21 / dr.RI0055 -.
If the EXTERNAL VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER is supplied too, place it in carefully and safely, far from the loading/unloading areas.
In the following paragraph you will find the list of all controls.

9 - SYSTEM STARTING By turning on the system, the display shows the release software code (example 3.5) during the loading of the set up data from the permanent memory "Eeprom". Then, for a time of about 2 seconds, it shows the identification code of the machine (for example 28A, SIL, or something else).
For going on it is necessary to push the button - pos. 19 / dr. RIOO55 - (=CLOSE THE VICE) that activates the oil pump - in the hydraulic models - or that allows the flux of compressed air- in the hydropneumatic models-.
Please note that in some previous models the starting can be activated by pushing any other button.
If you push other buttons the display shows the error message: ER0034.
If you do not push any other button within 10 minutes, the electronic control deactivates the oil pump - in hydralic models -, or it stops the compressed air - in the hydropneumatic models-. For starting up the system push again the button -pos..19/dr.RI0055- (=Close the vice) the display shows for an instant a series of led lights-.
After this operation the system is ready to work. The led lights appearing on the keyboard show the operative functions of the machine. Sometimes, after starting the machine or following to some “caused anomalies” (for ex. the blade is not tensioned during the moving), the keyboard shows diagnostic error codes. In that case, please, refer to the enclosed errors table (paragraph 9.3.2) for the identfication of the kind of error. Push any button to cancel such errors, after removing the anomaly.
9.1 - KEYBOARD / Description and use of the buttons - See drawing RI0055 Pushing the FEED-BACK buttons made with polyester support and IP65 protection, you can program all machine operations, including the positioning of the cutting unit : BACKWARD (16): to remove the cutting unit from the workpiece up to the maximum programmed point. The led light shows that the tool is moving. By pushing TEST + 16 you can get the barfeed forward. For automatic machine only, if you press it within the TEST button -pos.4/dr.RI0055- it move the feeder backward. FORWARD (17): to move the cutting unit in the direction of the workpiece up to the minimum programmed point. The corresponding led light shows that the tool is moving. By pushing TEST + 17 you can get the barfeed return. For automatic machine only, if you press it within the TEST button -pos.4/dr.RI0055- it move the feeder forward. CUT START SETTING (14): after positioning the tool by buttons 16 and 17 in the right point of start of the controlled feed (end of fast feed/cutting start) keep the button 14 pushed for about 3 seconds, in order to memorize the changing point from the rapid approach speed to the slow cutting speed (cutting start).
The confirmation that the memorization has been done, is shown by the symbol P¯ followed by some numbers appearing on the display - pos. 2 / dr. RI0055.
If the led light flashes, it means that the inserted point of cutting start is not operative anymore: lighty move the head up and memorize it again
When the led light in on, the cutting unit is on the programmed position. On the contrary, when this light is off, the cutting unit is under the programmed position. CUT END SETTING (15): after positioning the tool by buttons 16 and 17 in the point of end of the controlled feed (end cut) push the button 15 for about 3 seconds, in order to memorize the changing point of: speed end of controlled speed and cutting unit return.
The confirmation that the memorization has been done, is shown by the symbol P_ followed by some numbers appearing on the display - pos. 2 / dr. RI0055.
If the led light flashes, it means that the inserted point of cutting start is not operative anymore: lighty move the head down and memorize it again
When the led light is off, the cutting unit is over the programmed position. On the contrary, when this light is on, the cutting unit is under the programmed position. OPEN VICE (18): push it to open the machine vice. The led light on indicates that the command has been set ( ex. when the cycle starts by open vice, the vice will open again at the end of the working cycle). For automatic machine only, if you press it within the TEST button -pos.4/dr.RI0055- it open the feeder vice CLOSE VICE (19): push it to close the machine vice. The same as for the open vice (see above).

For automatic machine only, if you press it within the TEST button -pos.4/dr.RI0055- it close the feeder vice
CYCLE START(20): it allows to start a semiautomatic cutting cycle (when the led light of the function F3 is not flashing - pos. 25 / dr. RI0055).
On request we can also programme the machine so that this button is not operative (for ex. by connecting the command to the pedal), in order to avoid unwanted startings (ask it to Service Assistance).
The corresponding led light indicates that the machine is working. CYCLE STOP (21): it allows to stop the semiautomatic or automatic cutting cycle in each moment and to push other buttons of the manual commands.
FUNCTION 1 = F1 (26): If the led light is on, the returning stroke can be done with the tool in movement; if it is off with the tool stopped. FUNCTION 2 = F2 (27): it allows only the slow cutting stroke, if the led light is on (short cycle); it allows the approaching + slow cutting stroke if the led light is off (normal cycle). FUNCTION 3 = F3 (25): if led light is on, it stops the semiautomatic cutting cycle on the returning point (at the end of the cut).
TOOL SPEED -1 (11): by pushing this button when the machine is not working you can pre-select the lowest cutting speed (only for 2 speed machines); if pushed when the tool is in movement there is a speed
decrease (only in machines with ESC). If the led is on, it means that the preselection has been made. TOOL SPEED 0 (12): by pushing it when the machine is not working you can pre-select cutting speed 0. For
safety the function is not operative when machine is working. The led light on indicates that pre-selection has been made. TOOL SPEED+2 (13): by pushing it when the machine is not working you can pre-select the highest speed (only for 2 speed machines); if pushed when the tool is moving, it determins a speed increase (only in
machines equipped with inverter = ESC). The led light on indicates that pre-selection has been made.
COOLANT ON IN SEMIAUTOMATIC CYCLE (24): by led light on the coolant pump is operative only in the
semiautomatic cutting cycle.
It is better if the working cycle time is longer than 15 seconds.
COOLANT ON (23): by led light on, the coolant pump is always operative.
Use only if the working cycle time is shorter than 15 seconds.
If the machine is not working you can use the cleaning gun by pushing this button. COOLANT OFF (22): by led light on, the coolant pump is always off, for example by dry cuttings or by setting up the machine.
Please note that these three keys can command the function of the chip conveyor in our machines for aluminium ( VELOX) if the connection of this OPTIONAL is done according to the electrical scheme enclosed in the instructions.

9.2 - SETTING OF THE CUTTING LIMITS The feed movement of the tool is limited by four programmable positions, two of which are memorized by the manufacturer, in order to grant a correct and safe use of the machine:
1 - "MAXIMUM POINT OF RETURN” selected in the factory by pushing the key (10) + (16) together and then memorized by pushing the key (4) + (14) together for 3 seconds.
2 - “CUT START POSITION” according to worker choice: push the buttons (16) or (17) for moving the cutting unit and then the button (14) for memorizing the position. 3 - “CUT END POSITION” according to worker choice: push the buttons (16) or (17) for moving the cutting unit and then the button (15) for memorizing the position.
4 - “MAXIMUM FORWARD STROKE” selected in the factory by pushing the key (10) + (17) together and then memorized by pushing the key (4) + (15) together for 3 seconds.

These limits are memorized according to the logical order (MAXIMUM POINT OF RETURN > CUT START > CUT END > MAXIMUM FORWARD STROKE).
The position 1 selected by the manufacturer corresponds normally to the 80% of the maximum cutting height allowed (because the machine is fast never used at 100%).
If you have to change the positio (1) do as follow: push the button (16) and at the same time the button (10); when you reach the maximum position allowed, memorize by pushing for 3 sec. about the buttons TEST+ (14). In the same way you can change the position (4) too (by pushing the buttons 17 + 10 an afterTEST + 15).
In case of eventual errors you can read on the display the word “bAd instead of the confirmation of the datum that should be memorized. It is necessary to move the cutting unit till you are in the point of
DOWN FEED / RETURN and then repeat the memorizing process; when you are in this point le corresponding led light lights on.
It is possible to make a cutting cycle excluding the rapid approach and the cutting end and without changing the selected points of CUT START / CUT END, as follows:
a) Push the button (14) till the corresponding led light flashes b) Push the button (15) till the corresponding led light flashes c) Start a cycle: the cycle starts slowly from MAXIMUM POINT OF RETURN to MINIMUM POINT OF DOWN FEED. You can stop the cycle in each point by pushing the button (21). You have to repeat these operations if you want to make again another cutting cycle without limits.
9.3.1 - INFORMATION ON DISPLAY /1 = functioning parameters The key MODE (10) allows to display a series of data concerning the functioning of the machine. If you push this button for an instant, a led light, corresponding to one of the five parameters of the machine, lights on and you can read automatically on the display a value. If you push again MODE the following led lights, corresponding to the other paramets, light on clockwise. The parameters are the following:
MACHINE CYCLE TIME = by led light (5) on. The display is in seconds "S" (more often), in minutes "n" or in hours " ". Please note that the indicator adapts itself automatically to the passed time.
FUNCTIONING TIME OF THE MOTOR BLADE = by led light (6) on. Display as in “MACHINE CYCLE TIME”. The usual case is “ “ (on hours). For band sawing machines this led light flashing indicates that there is a wrong or insufficient tension of the band.
NUMBER OF CUT PIECES = by led light (7) on. Progressive display of numbers from 1 to 9999, and
following appearance of the points next to the numbers, that is from 1. to 9.9.9.9.
CUTTING SPEED PREVIOUSLY SET = by led light (8) on. In meters/minutes for bands (optional in feet/minutes); in r.p.m. for circular blades and discs.
ELECTRICAL ABSORPTION = by led light (9) on. Maximum current load in Ampere pointed out in each cutting cycle.
Each one of these parameters can be zero-set by pushing the keys TEST + MODE together for about 2 seconds, while the corresponding light is on.
The display (2) indicates constantly the electric motor absorption in Ampere, and by reading it together with the display (3), you can get ERROR MESSAGES.
9.3.2. - INFORMATION ON DISPLAY / 2 = Errors table (SELF-DIAGNOSTICS) The machine is equipped with self-diagnostics function, that allows to find out the working anomalies of the machine and to inform the worker giving the code numbersindicated here below (the ones printed in bold type are the most frequent):

9.5 - PREPARATION FOR THE SEMIAUTOMATIC CYCLE
Put the workpiece in the vice, leaving a gap of 2 or 3 mm. between the workpiece and the jaws; this gap is necessary for the free moving of the rod in the automatic closing; place the workpiece a little bit backwards from the cutting line.
The support of the feeder forward jaw - pos. 5/dr. RIO166 - has a limited stroke, but it can be moved from one slot to another one - pos. 6/dr. RIO166 - to reach the maximum opening; lock fast the two hexagon socket head cap screws after each position changing.
On the model SIRIO 350 AF-E the feeder jaws have a double use: a) with the longest part towards to loading roller table they allow to use the upper roller for all the available height - pos. 8 / dr. RIO166 - for cutting more pieces side by side (standard position of montage). b) adjusted with the longest part towards the machine they allow to get a very short scrap end, but they do not allow to use completely the upper roller. Also the supporting roller table - pos. 2/dr. RIO164 - can be transversally adjusted for supporting the cutting material in the right way.
Lock good the handle - pos. 11/dr. RIO161 and RIO165 - in order to stop the rotation of the worktable.

Start the general switch on, reset the emergency button if it has been pushed, close the vice by pushing the button “CLOSED ARROWS” - pos. 19 /dr. RIOO55 - and then prove the effective blocking of the jaws (and of the vertical vice, if used) on the workpiece. Close the feeder guard, rotate on 1 the cutting speed regulator pos. 2 /dr. RIO161 and RIO165 - and push the button CYCLE START - pos. 20 /dr. RIOO55 -; the machine makes each selected cycle: rapid approach to the workpiece (with blade in movement), slow descent for cutting, blade’s lock - this can be excluded -, rapid return - this can be excluded -.
The setting of the most suitable cycle (F1, F2, F3, supply of the coolant, and so on ) has to be done according to the requirements of the work that must be achieved.
Refer to the paragraphas KEYBOARD and SETTING OF THE CUTTING LIMITS for adjusting the rapid approaching and the cutting stroke.
N.B. = On the model SIRIO 350 AF-E it is possible to move down the carter - pos. 2 /dr. RIOO61 - so that it covers better the blade (it depends on the dimensions of the workpiece!): loosen the screws placed on the side and position the workpiece.
ATTENTION: Bring the carter in the highest position when you change the cutting limits, in order to avoid difficulties to the head sliding.
9.6 - SEMIAUTOMATIC CYCLE
Position the material over the cutting line and lock it, select the motor speed (and if there is, by using the mechanical gear), the function, the coolant supply and start the cycle by pushing the button CYCLE START pos. 20 /dr. RIOO55. Adjust the streaming of coolant on the blade, and after the rapid approach start to cut, by setting carefully the speed with the regulator - pos. 2 /dr. RIO161 and RIO165 -. At the end of the cut the motor stops and the blade goes on ending the cycle. Thanks to versatility of the control panel, the main cycle here described can be changed according to the kind of the work to do, for example: the blade goes on by motor in movement, the motor stops without the blade going on at cut end, and so on.
9.7 - LOCKING / EMERGENCY LOCKING
It is possible to stop the cycle in each moment:
a) By pushing the button CYCLE STOP - pos. 21 /dr. RIOO55 - the machine working stop is immediate, but there is the possibility to start other commands, for example for changing the kind of cycle or the blade’s speed;
b) By pushing the emergency button - pos. 1 /dr. RIOO55 -the stopping is immediate but it is not possible to start other commands before resetting it.
c) By using the general switch - pos. 2 /dr. RIO163 - you can cut of the current from the machine.
d) By opening the feeder guard, one positive stroke end stops the command circuit by provoking the stop of the movements.
e) In case of electricity interruption the general switch - pos. 2 /dr. RIO163 - springs on position 0 and it is necessary to reset it again, if you want the machine to start again working.
f) each time you finish the material to cut, a stroke end stops the automatic cycle - pos. 2 /dr. RIO164 -.
N.B. The stops like b) and e) stop the supply of compressed air too. If you want to activate it again, you have to push any other button on the control panel.
9.8 - UNLOCKING BLADE ( for SIRIO 350 AF-E only)
If the blade stops in the workpiece because of different reasons (too high feeding speed, the workpiece is not well closed in the vice, and so on), do as follows:
push immediately the emergency button - pos. 1 /dr. RIOO55 -, rotate the selector on “INVERSIONE” - pos. 1 /dr. RIO163 - placed under the main switch and then reset the emergency button. In this way the blade can

turn backwards: push the white button of CYCLE START - pos. 20 /dr. RIOO55 - for the time necessary for unlocking the blade from the workspiece; on the display you will read “BLOCCO” (= LOCK), and it is not possible to start other commands on the keyboard except for the one of OPEN VICE - pos. 18 /dr. RIOO55 or of CLOSED VICE - pos. 19 /dr. RIOO55 -.
9.9 - HEAD ROTATION FOR OBLIQUE CUTTING For cutting in the semiautomatic cycle it is possible to rotate the cutting unit: from 45 deg. right to 45 deg. left - model VELOX; from 45 deg. right to 60 deg. left - model SIRIO; Two adjustable mechanical stroke ends make the positioning easier and safer on the angles that are mostly used. Loosen the handle - pos. 1 /dr. RIO161 and RIO165 -, rotate the worktable by using the handle - pos. 14 /dr. RIO161 and RIO165 - (placed on the right side of the rotating part) till the required angle and then block the handle - pos. 11 -. Slide the front vice laterally - pos. 9 /dr. RIO161 and RIO165 - to avoid that it goes under the cutting line and interferes with the blade.
The model VELOX 350 AF-E has automatic stops on the positions 0, 15, 30, 45 deg. right and left disconnectable by pulling the lever of the frontal device outside pos. 13 /dr. RIO165.
The cuts in the automatic cycle are possible only from 0 to 60 deg. left (from 0 to 45 deg. on the model VELOX 350 AF-E).
9.10 - HEAD INCLINATION - for VELOX 350 AF-E only.
It is possible to cut in the semiautomatic and automatic cycle also at 45 deg. from the vertical. If you want to make so, you have to block the rotation of the worktable at 0 deg. by using the handle - pos. 11/dr. RIO165 -, unscrew the big nut - pos. 1 /dr. R0073 - and the screw - pos. 2 /dr. RIOO73 -, tilt the cutting unit to the left till you can read the chosen angle on the graduated scale - pos. 3 / dr. RIOO73 -. Then screw the nut with the screw and lock them fest. N.B.: If you want to reach the maximum inclination you have to take away the vertical vice.
9.11 - SPEED MECHANICAL GEAR - for SIRIO 350 AF-E only.
It enlarges the range of high resistance steels and stainless steels to light metals. For setting the speeds in the right way, you have to activate the proper lever when the motor is not working - pos. 13 /dr. RIO161 -.
Never move the lever during when the blade is rotating.
9.12 - PREPARATION TO THE AUTOMATIC CYCLE
You can make automatic cuts (by setting the number of pieces and of repetitions of feeder strokes) only after adjusting the positions of start and end cut and after setting the length of the feeder stroke. Do as follows:
- for adjusting the start / end cut positions of the cutting unit see paragraphs 9.2 and 9.5 (SETTING OF THE CUTTING LIMITS and SEMIAUTOMATIC CYCLE).
- Open completely the feeder guard - stopping in this way the compressed air supply too -, position the front feeder jaw - pos. 5 /dr. RIO166 - leaving a total gap of 2-3 mm. between the workpiece and the vice.
- Adjust the feeder stroke: unlock the lower lever - pos. 1 /dr. RIO166 -, rotate the hand-wheel - pos. 2 /dr. RIO166 - to slide the feeder cylinder to the right number
: the possible cutting lengths are included between 4
and 540 mm. for each single stroke.
Read the value expressed in mm. (optional in inches) on the digital indicator - pos. 7 /dr. RIO164 -.
Rotate the hand-wheel clockwise till you can read the right number, in order to reduce eventual gaps! Block again the lower lever - pos. 1 /dr. RO164 - and close again the feeder guard; the compressed air supply starts again and activates the automatic blocking of the set number.

N.B.: The right number of the feeder stroke must consider the cut width produced by the blade (called scrap end, it is about 2,5 mm. if the blade is in HSS, it is about 3,5 mm. if the blade has hard metal pads - suggested for VELOX models by cuts of aluminium),
This value must be added to the length of the cutting piece. The resulting number must be divided for the forseen number of feeder strokes (this number is selected later) and it is the right number of the feeder stroke.
For example: measure of the ended piece= 1500 mm. scrap end= 2,5 mm. forseen strokes= 3 1500 + 2,5 = 1502,5
1502,5 : 3 = 500,8 = right number
On the digital indicator you can read 500; for setting in the remaining 8 tenths you must rotate the decimal regulator - pos. 3 /dr. RIO166 - placed at the end of the feeder cylinder, till you make 8 clicks - each click corresponds to 1 tenth of mm. For avoiding mistakes it is necessary to switch clockwise the ring of the decimal regulator till closing it completely, then unswitch it of 1 click at a time. This device allows the precise regulation of the cuts with precision 1/10 mm.
Anyway use to verifying always the length of the first cut pieces of each workpiece you cut.
9.13 - AUTOMATIC CYCLE
Set the range of the motor speeds by pushing the buttons 1 or 2 (pos. 11 /dr. RIOO55), and the kind blades’s movement, that can be as follows:
A) continuous rotation during the bar feeding (compulsory on the model VELOX 350 AF-E, because considering the very speed rotation and the good mass of the blade the under indicated possibility B is ineffective), suggested when you have to do very short cuts, by pushing the button F1 (pos. 26 /dr. RIOO55) till the corresponding led light turns on.
B) rotation interrupted during the bar feeding (the blade rotation stops by loading of very long bars), by pushing the button F1 (pos. 26 /dr. RIOO55) till the corresponding led light turns off.
- Prepare the machine for the automatic cycle (keep pushed the button TEST - pos. 4/ dr. RIOO55 - together with the button F3 - pos. 25 /dr. RIOO55). If the led light of the button F3 flashes, it means that the machine is ready for the automatic cycle. If you want to go back to the semiautomatic cycle push the same buttons, stopping the flashing of the button F3.
- Select the number of pieces you want to cut:, keep pushed the button F2 - pos. 27 /dr. RIOO55 -, push continuously the buttons 13 and 14 for increasing or the 11 and 15 for decreasing the number appearing on the display (quantity from 1 to 9999). By releasing the button F2 - pos. 27 /dr. RIOO55 -, the number remains memorized.
- Select the number of the feeder strokes: keep pushed the button F1 - pos. 26/ dr. RIOO55 -, push continuously the buttons 13 or 14 for increasing or the 11 and 15 for decreasing the number appearing on the display (possible strokes from 1 to 29). By releasing the button F1 - pos. 26 /dr. RIOO55 -, the number remains memorized.
- Rezoire the piece counter: keep pushed the button F3 - pos. 25 /dr. RIOO55 -, and push the button 0 - pos. 12/dr. RIOO55 -.
By releasing the buttons, the piece counter goes on 0 and it is possible to count the cut pieces.
- Push the START button I - pos. 20 /dr. RIOO55 -: the feeder carriage is positioned behind (it reaches the correct number), the machine and the feeder vices close themselves, the led light of the button I flashes
to indicate the waiting for the automatic cycle (STAND BY POSITION).
- You can start the automatic cycle by pushing again the button I - pos. 20 /dr. RIOO55 -. The electronic control makes a self-verification, and if you haven’t done the a.m. operations in the right way, the

machine displays the kind of mistake and the cycle does not start. You have to check when the problem is, and you must put in the filling datum, so that the cycle can go on.
IN THE AUTOMATIC WORKING THE PRESENCE OF THE OPERATOR IS NOT NECESSARY OR IT CAN BE LIMITED IN WATCHING THE MACHINE.
- At the end of the cycle the machine stops and waits for the zeroing of the piece counter (or for the beginning of another cycle) remaining programmed for the automatic cycle. On the display you can read EP or LP.
- At the end of each bar the machine stops and waits for the bar changing, by going back to a semiautomatic cycle. After taking away the last remaining piece, put the new bar and position the end of it some mm. over the cutting line. restart the machine for working in automatic cycle by pushing the buttons TEST + F3 (4 +
25) and, withouth setting on zero the piece counter, start again the automatic cycle by pushing the START button I (20) for 2 times.
- During the automatic cycle (F3 flashing) you can use without problems the functions operated by the buttons (22) (23) (24) = lubricant - or aspirator, if connected, on model VELOX - (11) (13) = motor speed, (10) = information; and then by pushing the buttons F1 or F2 or F3 you can see on the display: the condition of the piece counter (F3), preselection of the feeder strokes numer (F1), preselection of the pieces number (F2).
9.14 - OVERLOAD PROTECTIONS
The motor is protected against overheating by bi-metal thermo-protectors, that stop the control circuit. If you want to start again the machine, you have to wait that the temperature fall below the fixed limit of interventation, then you have to start again the general switch. In the meantime try remove the causes, thet have brought to this overheating, for ex. the blade is locked in the workpiece, the cutting speed is too high, in the reductor ther is no oil anymore, the motor is in short circuit, an so on.

10 - ADJUSTMENTS FOR SIRIO 370 AF-E, VELOX 350 AF-E
10.1 -
- Air pressure for the cutting unit - dr.RI0345 e RI0165-. Hold the regulator ring -pos.5-, tilt it up outwards and rotate it in the indicated direction in order to increase or reduce the cutting blade’s power (for example: solid pieces = heigh pressure, light profiles or profiles capable of being deformed = low pressure ). By pushing the ring inwards, the value programmed on the manometer - pos. 6 - is locked.
10.2 B - Air pressure for the vices - dr. RI0345 and RIO165 -. The adjustement is the same as described above. It is necessary only when the material could be deformed or could be moved during the cutting. Use the regulator -pos. 7 - and the manometer -pos. 8 -. It is also possible to adjust the air pressure for the feeder vice. The adjustement is the same as above described and it is necessary when the material can be deformed or can move during the cutting. Use the regulator - pos. 11 - and the manometer - pos. 12 -.
10.3 General working pressure - dr. RIO344 -. The device includes as follows: one filter with automatic impurity discharge - pos.4 -, pressure reducer - pos. 1 -, lubricator of the installation - pos.3 - and manometer - pos. 2
-. The ring - pos. 5 - allows to change the pressures by doing as described in the previous paragraph 10.1 -. N.B.: The pressures of the a.m. points 10.1 and 10.2 cannot obviuosly be higher than the general one (usually adjusted at 6 BAR). This is also the pressure of the carriage feeder working.
10.4 - Cutting speed - pos. 2 /dr.RI0345 and RI0165 -. Rotate the button from 0 to 7 to increase the speed with which the blade penetrates the piece; to change it, it is necessary consider the following : the cutting material, the rotation speed, the shape, the piece sizes and its locking, the coolant, the blade conditions and so on.
10.5 - In the SIRIO 370 AF-E the jaws for feeder vice - dr. RIO166 - have a double possibility of use according to the requirements of the kind of working; with the protruding part oriented towards the machine they allow to cut fast all the material and to have a reduced scrap end. If you take them out and you remount them upside down (the front one at the place of the back one), that is with the protruding part oriented towards the loading roller table, they allow to use the upper roller - pos. 8 /dr. RIO166 - for all the available height.
The model VELOX 350 AF-E can be equipped (optional on request) with prolonged jaws, that allow to have a very shot scrap end at the end of the bar ( about 220 mm), even though they reduce the maximum cutting capacities. The kit includes also special jaws for the cutting unit vices. The maximum height of the material, that can go under the roller, is 80 mm.
10.6 - Positioning of the hanging command - loosen both handles - pos. 15 /dr. RIO345 and RIO165 - to rotate free the movable arm during the programmation and lock them during the automatic working.
Never unswitch completely the handle that is on the control panel.
Feeder speed and synchronization of the movements - If you want to change them or if there are some functioning irregularities, please ask the TECHNICAL SERVICE STAFF.

10 - CUTTING UNIT ADJUSTMENTS FOR VELOX
VICES - dr. RI0088 - The shaped jaws in aluminium - pos. 1, 2, 3, 4 - (available on some models) can be adjusted in the height in order to be suitable to the profiles that must be cut.
On the cutting position at 0 degrees it is possible to mount the back jaws upside down - pos. 1 and 2 - in order to bring them near the cutting line and give a right support to the little materials; by taking them away you can reach the maximum opening of the vice.
The handles - pos. 5 - mounted on the armlets of the vices can be turned around their own axle in case they are inconvenient: draw them up in the direction of the arrow - pos. 2 - and turn them following your need, by not moving the central screw - pos. 7 -, then press them down and make sure of the connection.
A selflocking nut placed inside each closing jaw - pos. 3 and 4 - allows the adjustment the connection gap with the driving cylinder - pos. 8 -. For avoiding the rotation of the inside part, put a little pin through the hole
- pos. 9- while you are working on the nut.
- It is possible to adjust the air pressure in the vices in case the material could be deformed or could move during the cutting; for the semiautomatic model VELOX 350 SH-E use the command - pos. 12 / dr. RI0095 and the manometer - pos. 13 / dr. RI0095. For the automatic models VELOX 350 make as explained in point
10.2.
These operations must be made by machine disconnected.
HEAD - dr. RI0087 - Make the adjustement of the oscillating pin - pos. 1 - in the following way: Release one of the two lock nuts - pos. 2 - placed on the fixed part - pos. 3 - of the articulation joint, grip enough the corresponding screw - pos. 4 - and lock it with a lock nut; make so also on the screw of the opposite side. Verify the result of the adjustment by taking up and down the head more times. Repeat if necessary.
For the versions semiautomatic/automatic it is necessary first of all to take away the pushing cylinder from the head. Operate as follows:
by machine still connected get down the cutting unit by pushing “HEAD DOWN” till the blade reaches the lowest point, take away the back cylinder stem by taking out the screw of the articulating joint, then put the stem inside by pushing “HEAD UP” . Then disconnect the machine and make so as indicated for the manual version.
CUTS - dr. RI0090 - in case the machine would not cut perpendicularly to the axle of the workpiece it is necessary to use the screw - pos. 1 - placed on the side of the fixed support - pos. 2 -; put a reference square on the worktable - pos. 3 - and against the blade (in a point where the teeth do not limit the contact) and after releasing the nut - pos. 4 - work the screw - pos. 1 - till you get the correction of the orthogonality defect. If the machine does not make 45 deg. cuts on both left and right sides it is possible to correct the positioning.
Anyway you have to use a trustworthy instrument that allows to value exactly the blade angle.
Rotate the blade to the angle that must be corrected, and keep it in position only by using the frontal unlocking system - pos. 8 /dr. RIOO94 -; put the checking instrument on the table - pos. 3 - between the fixed back jaw - pos. 5 - and the blade, then adjust the position of the back screw - pos. 6 - that stops the rotation of the cutting unit.
ATTENTION: These adjustments must be made very careully for not demaging the machine.

11 - MAINTENANCE - FOR THE USER
Make regularly the described operations to keep better the technical, productive and safety features of the machine, forseen by the manufacturer.
11.1 - PERIODICAL INTERVENTATIONS
Daily of more frequently if you are doing a demanding work: Remove the metal chips from the machine, by suckingthem if possible; Fill with coolant the tank; verify the blade conditions and replace it if necessary;
Weekly - Clean the machine, lubricate all joint points and the sliding surfaces with oil or grease; For semiautomatic or automatic versions: control if there is oil in the lubricator - pos. 2 /dr. RIO162 - of the pneumatic equipment and in the hydraulic circuit, by doing as follows: VELOX 350 automatic: with the cutting unit completely down, the oil in the tank - pos. 1/RIOO89 - must reach almost 2/3 of the visible height - pos. 2/dr. RI0089. VELOX 350 semiautomatic: with the cutting unit completely down, the oil must reach almost 2/3 of the visible height - pos. 6/dr. RI0058 -.
Monthly - Change the coolant (if you have used it) and clean the tank; Control the fast blocking of all screws and bolts, that can loosen during the use; verify the functioning of the stroke ends, control the switches and the condition of the cables, tubes and hydropneumatic couplings; control the functioning of the less used equipments.
ATTENTION: transmission belts - placed on the right side of the cutting unit; these are completely covered by a protective carter in metal material. The automatic version
does not need any adjustment because they are equipped with belts type POLY-V with constant lenght. On the manual and semiautomatic versions
check that by pushing in the middle of each trapezoidal belt; the maximal excursion is about 10 mm. On the contrary: loosen the screw - pos. 7/dr. RI0090 - that locks the motor plate - pos. 8/dr. RI0090 - on the oscillating pin. Adjust the possible excursion and block again the screw - pos. 7/dr. RI0090 -.
REPLACE THE WORN OUT BELTS IN TIME.

11.2 - BLADE RUNNING-IN
To grant a better performance of the machine and a longer blade life a good running-in is essential. For the first operation we recommend reducing the blade penetration speed into the workpiece to half of the normal value and keeping the blade rotation speed constant. Only after cutting 250/350 cm² of the material it is possible to increase the penetration speed till reaching the normal value. Avoid blade stucking into the workpiece.
Be careful when using blades with WIDIA hard metal teeth: the teeth must not hit against the workpiece to avoid cracking or breaking.
ATTENTION: This kind of blade can be sharpened many times before being replaced, if the hard metal pads are in good conditions.The sharpening operation, however, must be carried out considering the blade original features in order not to limit the machine performance or to cause a faulty working. The sharping process with the possible replacement of the hard metal pads always causes a change in the material conditions and a variation of the teeth form, which cannot always be accepted. Furthermore, the high spindle speed required stable and well calibrated blades.
For a right blade use see paragraph CHOICE OF THE BLADE.
63 NRO
11.3 - MACHINE RUNNING-IN
The periodical maintenance required by this machine is necessary to guarantee a correct working in time and to keep unchanged the machine original features. When you start to use the machine you must carry out some extra operations to allow all machine components to settle down in the definitive conditions of use.
Frequently check the machine working: do not overload the machine and avoid stucking the blade into the workpiece. For 80/100 working hours make sure that all screws and bolts subject to vibrations and use are well tightened. Check the transmission belt tension and adjust it if necessary.
The blade shaft bearings are waterproof and permanently lubrificated. Do not damage the gum seals.
The mechanical components heating (and the oildynamic components on semiautomatic and automatic models) is to be considered as normal. It never gets over the acceptable limits.
Please see OIL AND LUBRICANTS TABLE in order to choose the most suitable oil and to compare the different types of oil.

12.2 - SAW BLADE FAULTS / CAUSES / SOLUTIONS
In case of broken teeth, broken blades or short blade life refer to the following list of causes and solutions.
1. EARLY AND EXCESSIVE TEETH WEAR
- insufficient pressure - the teeth slide on the material;
- too high cutting speed - the teeth slide on the material;
- the coolant sprayed is not enough;
- improper cooling emulsion;
- too big or overloaded teeth;
- incorrect blade running-in;
- the teeth feed in the opposite direction: turn the blade.
2. THE TEETH BREAK / THE BLADE BREAKS
- the teeth are too big for the section to be cut; they are overloaded (at least 3 teeth should work at the same time);
- the teeth are too thin for the section to be cut; exhaust throats are full of chips;
- the material is not properly clamped;
- cutting pressure is too high, the blade tends to stuck into the material;
- the blade is not well tightened to the spindle;
- cut started against a workpiece corner;
- high pressure: the teeth are overloaded stuck into the material.
3. OUT OF SQUARE CUTS
- pressure is too high;
- the speed is too high;
- the blade must be resharpened.

13 - MACHINE NOISE - VELOX MODELS -
The decibel measured in the workplace in the conditions under described below results from the simultaneous working of machine components (according to the cycle described) and from the movement of the tool when it touches the workpiece (only during the cut). The decibels were measured in different moments in order to take different working conditions into consideration.
The phon-meter is placed at about 1 meter from the machine and at about 1,60 m over the floor. The result of each test is given in dBA and it results from the average of 3 tests carried out at the machine left side, front side, right side.
For all machines the using conditions are as folllows:
with the machine running light (at the maximum rotation speed with the machine fitted with a tool with the maximum indicated diameter, with hard-metal teeth): dBA 83 during the cut (while cutting aluminium solid material by a blade with hard metal pads): dBA 89
ATTENTION: if the machine is semiautomatic or automatic the cutting unit is moved by the corresponding controls (measure uncertaintly: ± 2 dB).
In mass production the test is carried out on a machine similar to the above mentioned one, in compliance with E.C. Safety Norms 89/392 and 86/188 CEE.
The use of the machine in bad conditions or the use of wrong tools cause considerable alterations of these values and it is prejudicial to the health of the operator and to the machine performance.
The noise entity mainly depends on the material to be cut, on its size and on the clamping system. When expecting the noise to be over the above mentioned decibels, we recommend using personal means of protection (head phones, plugs etc. ) in case of a prolonged use of the machine at such high noise levels.
ATTENTION: the noise level may change considerably as a consequence of the use of blades with or without hard metal pads. To reduce the noise level as much as possible some sound-proof material has been fitted inside of the blade protection guard. Regularly make sure that this material is in good condition. It can be replaced by adhesive sets of sond-proof materials.
13.1 - ADDITIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
This type of machine, manually controlled by an operator during all the work phases, must respond to further health and safety requirements as specified by article 2.2 of the Annexed I of the European Directive 89/392 and following. In particular, the level of vibrations emitted by the machine while in use must be clearly specified in the instructions. This machine does not emit vibrations of a level higher than 2.5 m/s2
The measurement procedure used conforms to the general norms applied to this type of machine.
As in the preceding paragraph, using the machine in unsuitable conditions or using the wrong tools
can cause changes affecting this value, endangering the health of the work force as well as the quality of production. Vibrations emitted during cutting may be amplified by the material, by its dimensions and its positioning/clamping in the vice.

14 - DRAINING OF USED / PRODUCED SUBSTANCES
Please remember to follow the current Law Norms concerning the draining of:
- materials used by the machine (for example hydraulic circuit oil, reduction gear oil, oil for installations of lubrication and so on);
- working scrap materials or materials not usable anymore (for example ferrous and not ferrous chips, tools like saw bands and blades and so on);
ATTENTION: This machine is already equipped with a chip conveyor that during the cutting cycle takes a considerable part of chips / dust produced during the working. The ventilation of the tool has the same direction of the air produced by the aspirator - suitable as OPTIONAL on the VELOX models -. The installation of a tube is helped by the presence of a circular connection placed on the back side of the machine.
The use of the machine without the connection tube must be valued by the point of view of the machine position inside the working enviroment, in order to reduce the danger caused by the projection of parts at high speed.
- substances used for cleaning and maintenance;
- materials used in some periods of machine life only (for example for packing, transit and so on).
- Do not throw tha packing away as it might be used in case you should transit the machine or return it to the distributor or to the service staff - when the machine is still under guarantee.
63 SA
15 - MACHINE DEMOLITION
This paragraph may give some informations about the macrooperations of machine disassembly for its scrapping. Special procedures are not required but it is necessary to take only some cares to avoid damages in the last phase of the machine life.
Generally: you must empty the cooling installation tank, take out the oil from the reduction box, from the hydraulic or hydropneumatic installation.
Lock the parts that could move and cause danger or instability.
Remove the parts assigned to the differentiated draining, for example the printed circuit, display stations, programming keyboards, buffer batteries and so on.

63VE ## FAST INSTRUCTION FOR USE OUR AUTOMATIC MACHINE SIRIO/VELOX AF-E
1- If the machine has not been installed yet, pls. read the pages in the instruction manual regarding machine installation). In order to check that the external supply has been connected, push buttons16 or 17: if the cutting unit moves up or down everything is OK; if nothing moves, disconnect and reverse two of the wire in the plug. (NOTE: if the emergengy button is pressed, nothing moves and the display shows "Er0020"; if air is disconnected the display shows ER0034)
2 - This is a semiautomatic & automatic machine; for this reason the heights of CUT START / CUT END have to be setted BEFORE selecting the automatic cycle.
§ use keys 16 / 17 to move upwards the blade 10 mm about over the piece to be cut,
§ " " 14 for 3 seconds to set the point of CUT START
§ " " 16 / 17 to move downwards the blade below the piece to be cut
§ " " 15 for 3 seconds to set the CUT END position
§ " " 16 to return in high position
3 - If you carry out well these regulations, it is possible starts to work in SEMIAUTOMATIC cycle:
Push key 20 to make a simulated cut; if everything is OK , the cutting unit goes down fastly, slows down 10 mm over the piece, cuts and then goes up. It does not go up if the function F3 has been chosed. If the machine vice is too open, the cycle does not start and the display shows "Er0028".
( NOTE during the semiautomatic cycle the feeder vice is not controlled)
It is better to make some cuts to check the cutting speed and others working conditions. 4 - Push together keys 4+25 to prepare AUTOMATIC CUT: if all is OK, button 25 flashes;
§ adjust the feeder stroke = open the cover of the feeder in order to stop the air supply (or push the emergency button), turn the wheel until you read THE CORRECT VALUE (es.: 500 mm piece lenght + 3 mm blade thickness) = 503 *
§ adjust the feeder vice = ( keys 4 and 18 = opening; 4 and 19 = closing)
§ select the number of feeder stroke = keep pushed key 26 and push key 11 or 13 to select : 1 for one stroke; 2 for two stroke; 3 for three stroke; max. 29 stroke. Release key 26
§ select the number of pieces to be cut = keep pushed the key 27 and push key 11 or 13 to select one by one the quantity, or push key 14 or 15 to select hundred by hundred the quantity;. max. 9999 pieces. Release key 27
§ zero-adjust the piece-counter = keep pushed key 25 and push key 12 to zero-adjust the piece-counter. Release key 25.
* The above point is OK for 3 mm blade thickness and 1 feeder stroke. In case of 2 feeder stroke you have to act as follows: piece lenght divided into 2 + blade thickness divided 2. In case of 3 feeder stroke you have to act as follows: piece lenght divided into 3 + blade thickness divided into 3. And so on for 4, 5, 6, . For VELOX 350 , blade thickness is 3.5 mm about.
5 - If you carry out well these selections, it is possible starts to work in AUTOMATIC cycle:
Close feeder cover, restore air plant by pushing “VICE CLOSED” button, Push key 20 to start the automatic cycle; if everything is OK the feeder moves backwards to take the material an the key 20 flashes. If the feeder vice is too opened, key 20 do not flashes and the display
shows "Er0032".
(NOTE : during automatic cycle feeder vice and machine vice are controlled)
6 - Push again key 20 to start definitiverly the automatic cycle. It is better to make some cuts and verify the lenght of cutted pieces in order to correct it by the decimal regulator putted at the end of feeder cylinder. (1 CLICK = 0,1 mm).
NOTE : when the bar ends, the program returns to semiautomatic cycle.
You have to change the material, cut the initial scrap of the bar, and after return to the automatic cycle by pushing keys 4 + 25 . Operate as indicated to point 5.
