Unpack the machine
from the package.

Remove the tapes.
DL185: 9 pieces
DL155: 13 pieces
Open the multi-bypass.
Open the left cover.
Remove the tapes. Lift the two fixing section
release levers.
Pull the drawer out.
Remove the tapes and two
scanner pins.
Remove the tapes and two pads.
Close the drawer.
IMPORTANT!
Do not load paper before the main
switch is turned on and copying is
enabled. If you do, a paper misfeed may
occur when the main switch is turned on.
Lift open the Document Feeder and
remove the sheet on the platen.
Open the front cover.
Remove the cardboard pad
on the left side.
Tear the blue tape and gently
pull the clear strip out of the
machine.
CAUTION
Two people are required to move the
copier. Stand on the front and rear
sides of the copier and hold it tightly
by the handles on the sides. If you
stand on the right and left sides of
the copier or hold it by the drawer,
you may damage the copier or injure
yourself or someone else.

a service technician to set-up. However, if a service technician
installation is required, call 1-800-243-5556 for assistance.

Store the removed scanner pins
by securing them on the inside
of the front cover. These pins
are required whenever the
copier is moved.
The storing locations for the
scanner pins are marked inside
the front cover.

"-" appears on the copy quantity/
magnification display in the operation
section of the copier for approximately
13 seconds. Then, copier drive starts and
the remaining time before drive ends is
counted down on the copy quantity/
magnification display (245 seconds).
When copying is enabled, "1" appears
and the Start indicator lights up.
IMPORTANT!
Do not turn the power off or open
covers while the copier is driving.
Doing so may cause printing problems
or contaminate the copier internally.
Press the drawer bottom
plate down and lock it there.
Holding the width
adjustment lever, move it to
align the width guide with
the required paper width.
Paper sizes are marked inside
the drawer.
While squeezing the tabs on
the sides, remove the length
guide and then insert it into
the holes of the required
paper length.
Paper sizes are marked inside
the drawer.
*If the paper touches the right-hand
wall of the drawer, the length guide is
not used. Store it in the space shown
in the illustration.
IMPORTANT
• Load paper so that it is kept under
the claw of the drawer.
• When loading the paper into the
drawer, make sure that the copy side is
facing up (the copy side is the side
facing up when the package is
opened).
Set the paper flush against the
left-hand wall of the drawer.
Gently push the drawer back in.
• Check that the paper is kept
under the claw of the drawer.
If not, reload the paper.

Close the covers and drawer.
Connect the power cord.

Turn the main switch on.

For DL155 copiers only.
Attach the original holder to the
left side of the copier.
Install the waste toner tank.
*Do NOT remove the tape.
If the waste toner tank is not
installed correctly, the front cover
will not close.
Load Paper.
Pull the drawer out as far as it
will go. If an optional drawer is
installed, do not pull more than
one drawer out at a time.
* Check that the length and width
guides securely contact the paper.
If there is a gap, adjust the
position of the length or width
guide to close it.
* Load paper all at once and do
not add paper until all sheets are
used up. if you add paper to a
drawer that still contains paper, a
paper misfeed may occur.
Installation is complete!
The copier is ready for normal copying.
• For details on how to load paper,
see "1. how to load paper" on
page 3-1 in the User's Manual.

From the separate package,
remove the Printpowder®
toner container and waste
toner tank.
CAUTION
Do not incinerate toner
and toner cartridges.
Dangerous sparks may cause burns.
Hold the toner container
vertically and tap the top 15
times. Turn the container upsidedown and tap the top 15 times.
Then, hold the container
horizontally and shake it from
side to side 10 times.
Install the toner container.
First insert the toner container
into the copier as far as it will go
and then slide it to the right as
indicated by the marked arrows.
