Any fire featuring naked flames or using flammable liquids has a potential risk of burns or injury. These fires are safe when the user exercises common sense and reads this manual. Under no circumstances should these products be used unless these Safety and Use Instructions have been read first.
!
Bio-ethanol is a clean burning fuel derived from plants. When these fuels burn, they release moisture back into the atmosphere and, as long as the burner box is clean and free from debris, there should be no noticeable smoke.
No special permits, installation or construction regulations are required to use this appliance and no electrical or gas connection is required.
By purchasing this product, you agree to exercise common sense at all times when operating the fire. Ensure that other persons or animals are adequately supervised and any risk is minimised during the use of this product.
Never put petrol inside or near the biofire. This is extremely dangerous. Use only Bioethanol Fuel developed for Bioethanol Fireplaces.
Restrict the use of this appliance to persons who read, understand and follow the
warnings and instructions in this manual.
Never leave the fire unattended. Always extinguish the fire fully before

going to sleep.
Ensure that the steel burner box and all parts of the biofire housing is EMPTY, clean and dry before filling with the liquid Bioethanol.
Ethanol combustion uses oxygen from the air inside the room and releases carbon dioxide (non toxic) and water vapours. The room should be well ventilated with enough oxygen and fresh air being supplied (e.g. partly open window). Do not block the room's air vents. Avoid air drafts to prevent flare-ups.
This Biofire and steel burner box should always be placed on a stable, flat,
horizontal surface and away from any combustible materials.
Always stay at least 1 meter (40 inches) from the bioethanol fireplace when the
flame is lit.
Keep children and pets at a safe distance; be careful with flammable clothes or hair.
Do not blow into the fire. This could cause flames to rise out of the fire.
Never position the fire in a location where there is a risk of wind blowing the fire
into flammable items or materials.
Do not use the fireplace and its steel burner box near flammable items such as
curtains, fabrics, furniture, aerosol sprays or other flammable items. Ensure all flammable items at least 2 metres from the fire and ensure there is a fire
extinguisher nearby.
The fire is meant for use as a secondary heat source and is not suitable for cooking food or boiling water.
Do not use the fire in caravans, boats, vehicles or in unventilated rooms.
Do not use as a multi-burner or open fire or use any other liquid or solid
combustible materials or other fuel types other than Bioethanol Fuel.
Only Bioethanol is suitable as fuel for this appliance. It is extremely dangerous to
use Bioethanol car fuel, other liquid or gel fuels (gasoline, diesel, petrol, lighter fluids, solvents, thinners, etc.) or solid fuels (paper, cardboard, wood, charcoal, lighting cubes, etc.) or a mix of fuels.
Always follow the instructions shown on the packaging of Bioethanol fuel and store out of reach of children and animals.
Do not smoke while re-filling or lighting the burner, or in the immediate vicinity of the fire, and avoid physical contact with Bioethanol fuel. Should the fuel come into contact with skin, please rinse thoroughly immediately.
Do not operate if under the influence of alcohol, drugs or prescribed medication.
Do not place paper, cardboard, fabric, clothing or any other flammable materials
on, or around, the burner.
The stainless steel burner box supplied is fire proof, but must be replaced if there are any signs of cracks or corrosion. Please contact us at www.imaginfires.co.uk or 01242 694806 for replacement steel burner boxes.
Bioethanol burns best when it is at room temperature. In temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius the liquid will not ignite easily and it will take more time for an attractive flame to develop.
Do not use near flammable gas.
Do not store Bioethanol fuel near the appliance. Store it only in a cool, dry place
and ensure the container is always tightly sealed.
Do not cover the fire, or place any flammable materials or clothing on appliance.
Do not put any ornaments on this unit at anytime.
Fill the steel burner box with the Bioethanol fuel only to the max line
indicated on the burner box. Never overfill the steel burner box beyond the max level.
Do not leave any bottles of bioethanol or lighters on or near the fireplace
shelf.
In case of injury or swallowing Bioethanol liquid, immediately call a doctor
or hospital for treatment and show them the label or packaging of the bottle.
Do not apply any treatment on burned skin and, should breathing
problems occur, please consult a doctor before use.
How long will the fuel burn for?
Typically, 1 litre of fuel will burn for approximately 3 hours. If the burner unit is fully open, then fuel will be used at a faster rate than if the unit is partly closed.
Does bioethanol have any smell?
Whilst burning, you will not notice any smell, but when the fire is first lit or extinguished there is a very slight temporary odour, which will disappear within minutes.
Will using an imagin fire set off my smoke alarm?
No. The fuel burns without any smoke.
Where can I buy replacement bio fuel?
You can buy fuel from our website (www.imaginfires.com). We strongly recommend that you only use bioethanol fuel with at least 96.6% alcohol.
How do I light my imagin fire?
Refer to the section “Operating the Biofire”.
How quickly will my imagin fire heat up?
It depends on the conditions in which you are trying to light it but usually within about 5 to 10 minutes. At first the flame may be a blue colour but will quickly turn into a yellow/orange flame.
How do I extinguish the flame?
The burner boxes have shutters that can be closed to shut off the flame immediately. Always use the supplied rods to do this. Do not use your hands or any other part of your body to do this, as the burner box will of course remain hot for a while even after closing off the fire.
Can I pour more biofuel on top of the existing fuel that is inside a burner box?
NEVER pour any fuel on top of a flame/existing fire. Always allow the existing flame to be extinguished fully and cooled before adding any more fuel.
What is the best way to be safe around the bioethanol fire?
The flame on the Imagin bioethanol fire is a real flame. You need to treat the fire as you would any open fire source. Never put any flammable items near the flame. Always allow the unit to cool completely before touching or moving it. If used outdoors, remember that the weather conditions can greatly influence how the flame behaves. For example, winds can make the flame suddenly change direction. Always
