Description
The S-Type is a typical VCA compressor well known as the core of British sound. Used first in the SSL consoles produced in the 1980s. The heart of the compressor is the THAT chip instead of the now unavailable DBX. The analogue path is balanced with ultra-fast A class NE chips. This is the source of completely transparent sound. A minimal level of noise allows the device to be used in recording classical music, including long range recording. Due to transformer symmetric inputs and outputs the compressor work great with all line signals. The output level is hot enough for very demanding converters like Apogee, Lynx, Mytek (up to +24dBU).

Getting started
1. Connect your S-Type to your sound interface (stereo inputs and stereo outputs) with four symmetrical XLR wires
2. Send your current audio project to the selected outputs
3. Activate the selected input channels on your local mixer
4. Set the Threshold knob to 20, Output knob to 0
5. Set Ratio to 2:1, Attack to 30, Release to ‘Auto’, Compressor to ‘Bypass’
6. Switch on the S-Type
7. Play sound from your source
8. Switch Compressor to ‘IN’
9. Turn the Threshold CCW until compression is satisfying
10. Turn the Output knob CW until volume is right
11. To control transients adjust the Attack switch
12. Adjust the Release switch to your song’s rhythm (Try to “pump up” the sound)
13. Compare your results to the original sound by using Bypass

Typical usage:
Great summing and mastering compressor
Beat compressor for external drum machines
Drum compressor for live drums
Can be used to compress single stereo instruments (pads, leads)
The S-Type is a precision dynamic range controller intended for use in the most demanding professional audio applications. RMS detection, high headroom input circuits and output drivers, give the S-Type its own sonic excellence.
Notice
1. No manipulation inside the device by any unauthorized person is allowed.
2. If you want to mount your device on a rack, then you may remove the four rubber stands from under the device.
