Quick Start User Guide
1. Introduction
This user guide introduces the user how to implement the I-7231D module into their applications in a quick and easy way. Therefore, it only provides the basic instructions. For more detail information about the I­7231D, please refer to the I-7231D user manual in the product CD or download it from following web site:
http://www.icpdas.com/download/can/index.htm
The purpose of this manual is focused on helping users to quickly familiarize themselves with the I-7231D module. Users can apply the I­7231D module as follows.

4.How to Start
Select DCON AI/AO/DI/DO
modules for users’ application
Configure these DCON modules
by using the DCON Utility
Connect these DCON modules
with the COM2 of the I-7231D
Use the CAN Gateway Utility to
configure the I-7231D and
create an EDS file for the
present state
Apply the EDS file for CANopen
master interface and run the I-
7231D on the CAN network
Select the necessary ICPDAS I-7000/I-87
K
IO modules for you

CANopen application.
Configure the RS-485 baud rate, checksum, module address, data format and type code of the IO modules by using the DCON Utility.
1. Power off the I-7231D
2. Connect these DCON modules with the COM 2 of the I-7231D.
3. Connect the COM1 of the I­7231D with the PC’s COM port via the RS-232 cable, CA0910F.
4. Wire the Init* pin and Gnd pin, and then power on the I-7231D.
5. Execute the CAN Gateway Utility to configure the communication parameters of the I-7231D and establish the EDS file.
After finishing the configuration of the I-7231D and creation of the specific EDS files, turn off the I­7231D, remove the wire between the Init* pin and Gnd pin, and turn on the I-7231D.
