1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 PREFACE

Thank you very much for purchasing the product. We hope you will enjoy using it as a great
home entertainment partner. This player has the following functionality.

A/V Output

• HDMI V1.3 for high-definition video and digital audio

• Composite & component video and stereo audio for analog audio-visual connection

• S/PDIF coaxial & optical interface for high-fidelity digital audio

• Adjustable video output resolution (NTSC, PAL, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p)

1.3 CAUTIONS

This player’s design and manufacture has your safety in mind. In order to safely and
effectively use this player, please read the following before usage.

1.3.1 USAGE CAUTIONS

User should not modify this player. If commercial hard disk is being used, the environmental
temperature should be within +5°C ~ +35°C.

1.3.2 POWER

The player’s power voltage: AC 100~240V.

When using this player, please connect the supplied AC adapter or AC adapter cable to the
player’s power jack. When placing the adapter cable, make sure it cannot get damaged or be
subject to pressure. To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the adapter first before
cleaning it. Never connect the adapter to the player in a humid or dusty area. Do not replace
the adapter or cable’s wire or connector.

1.3.3 RADIO INTERFERENCE

- If not properly shielded, almost all electronic devices will get radio interference. Under some
conditions, your player might get interference.

- The design of this player has followed the FCC/CE standard, and has followed the following
rules:

(1) This player may not cause harmful interference;

(2) This player could accept some interference received including interference that may cause
undesired operation.

1.3.4 REPAIR

If the player has a problem, you should take it to an appointed repair center and let the
specialists do the repair, never repair the player yourself, you might damage the player or
endanger yourself or your data.

1.3.5 DISPOSING OF THE PLAYER

When you dispose of the player, be sure to dispose it appropriately. Some countries m ay
regulate disposal of electrical device, please consult with your local authority.

1.3.6 HARD DISK CAUTIONS

The player uses an internal hard disk for data storage, in normal case, format or repair is not
required.

You should carefully read the <6.2 Frequently Asked Questions > chapter, and check our
website iconbit.com for latest information before formatting the hard disk.

- Physical impact may create bad sector in the hard disk, you can use CHKDSK to fix the
problem.

- All data stored in the player may be lost due to physical impact, electrical shock, power lost,
HDD format etc. Please backup your data.

- It is suggested to do defragment after a long period of usage.

- Regularly backup the data in the hard disk so that it can be recovered in the event of data
corruption or loss. Our company takes no responsibility for loss of data stored on the hard
disk.

1.3.7 OTHERS

When using this player, please do not let the player come into contact with water or other
liquid, if water is accidentally spilled on the player, please use a dry cloth to absorb the
spillage.

Electronic products are vulnerable, when using please avoid shaking or hitting the player, and
do not press the buttons too hard.

- Do not let the player come into contact with water or other liquid.

-Do not disassemble the player, repair the player or change the design of the player, any
damage done will not be included in the repair policy.

Do not press the buttons of the player too hard.

Avoid hitting the player with hard object, avoid shaking the player, and stay away from
magnetic fields.

During electrostatic discharge and the strong electromagnetic field, the product will
malfunction, then unplug the power cable and the product will return to normal performance
next time it is powered on.

1.4 CONNECTION

1.4.1 CONNECTING THE POWER SUPPLY

(1) Follow the picture and connect the AC adaptor to the player’s DC IN jack;

(2) Follow the picture and plug in the AC adaptor to the power outlet.

1.4.2 CONNECTING TO A PC

(1) Make sure the player is powered on;

(2) Plug in the squarish connector of the USB cable to this player’s USB DEVICE port;

(3) Plug in the rectangular connector of the USB cable to computer.

In this way, you can manage content on the built-in HDD of the player on your local PC.

1.4.3 CONNECTING A USB DEVICE

(1) Make sure the player is powered on;

(2) Plug in the USB stick or USB HDD etc. to the USB HOST port of this player.

In this way, you can browse contents on the USB device.

1.4.4 CONNECTING A MEMORY CARD

Memory card can be used by inserting to the card slot

(1) Follow the picture to insert the memory card to the card slot properly;

(2) Insert the card by following the arrow pointer in the picture.

In this way, you can browse contents on the memory card.

1.4.5 CONNECTING TO A TV

1.4.5.1 A/V IN

(1) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the player’s A/V IN jack;

(2) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the A/V OUT jack of the TV/IPTV
Set-Top Box (STB).

In this way, you can record TV programs from the TV/IPTV Set-Top Box.

1.4.5.2 A/V OUT

(1) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the player’s A/V OUT jack;

(2) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the TV’s A/V IN jack.

1.4.5.3 SCART OUT

(1) Follow the picture and plug one connector on the SCART cable to the player’s SCART
socket;

(2) Follow the picture and plug the other connector on the SCART cable to the TV’s SCART
socket.

1.4.5.4 Y/Pb/Pr Component OUT

(1) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the player’s Y/Pb/Pr jack;

(2) Follow the picture and plug in the 3 color connector to the TV’s Y/Pb/Pr jack.

Audio Connection while using Y/Pb/Pr Video out:

First method: use the audio output from the A/V OUT jack;

Second method: use the audio output from the S/PDIF Coaxial or Optical jack.

1.4.5.5 HDMI OUT

(1) Follow the picture and plug one connector on your HDMI cable to the player’s HDMI
connector;

(2) Follow the picture and plug the other connector on your HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI
connector. Note: The HDMI cable is an optional accessory sold separately.

In this way, you can have the highest quality video and audio via a single cable.

1.4.5.6 ANT. / RF IN

Follow the picture and plug a TV Aerial to the ANT. / RF IN socket;

1.4.5.7 ANT. / RF OUT

(1) Make sure the player is connecting to power supply;

(2) Make sure a TV Aerial is connecting to the ANT. / RF IN socket;

(3) Follow the picture and plug a TV cable to the ANT. / RF OUT socket then plug the cable to
a TV or other TV receiver.

The player can loop out the DVB-T signal to other TV receiver device. In this way, you can
watch the TV programs with another TV receiver while recording.

1.4.6 CONNECTING TO A DIGITAL AMPLIFIER

(1) Follow the picture and plug in the RCA connector on your coaxial cable to the player’s
S/PDIF Coaxial jack. Or if you use optical fiber, please plug in the Toslink connector on your
optical fiber to the player’s S/PDIF Optical jack;

(2) Follow the picture and plug in the other connector on your coaxial cable or optical fiber to
the digital audio device (digital amplifier or decoder).

Note: Optical fiber and coaxial cable are not supplied.

In this way, you can enjoy powerful Dolby Digital, DTS, or MPEG sound. (Please refer to <3.2
Changing Audio Settings> for configuration)

1.4.7 CONNECTING TO A LAN

To connect to a LAN (Local Area Network) you require a cat5, cat5e or cat6 network cable
(not supplied).

(1) Connect one of the crystal plugs on the cable to the player’s RJ45 LAN socket;

(2) Connect the other crystal plug on the cable to a RJ45 LAN port on your router, switch, or
hub devices.

1.4.8 CONNECTING TO A WLAN

(1) Make sure the player is powered on;

(2) Plug the Wireless LAN USB Adapter (i.e. Wi-Fi USB Dongle) to the USB HOST port of the
player.

Note: The Wi-Fi Dongle is an optional accessory sold separately. (Please refer to <3.5
Changing Network Settings> for more details about wireless setup)

1.5 POWER ON / OFF

Power On

After connecting the DC IN jack and press the power button on the front panel, the player will
soon enter the home screen, and the power indicator will turn blue.

Power Off

Press the power button on the front panel, the player will soon enter standby mode, and the
power indicator will turn red. Then unplug the power cord to cut off the power supply.

1.6 MENU LANGUAGE

The system language of this player can be set to English or other languages. Change the
language you wish in the setup menu, the selected language will take effect immediately.

1.7 HDD FORMAT

For users who wish to install a new SATA HDD into the player, please refer to the following
procedures to format the hard disk on the player before usage.

Step 1: Select OK on the Warning page, press ENTER to confirm.

Note: This page can be also accessed via Setup->System->HDD Format menu.

Step 2: Press the up / down button to adjust the capacity of time shift buffer.

Press the left / right button to select Next, and the enter button to confirm.

Step 3: Select Format, press ENTER, and then hard disk format will start.

The formatting procedure will be finished within a few minutes. And then you can use the hard
disk properly on the player.

Note: HDD format will remove all data stored on the hard disk drive. Please take care and
backup your data in advance!

Press to activate tools menus:

--Press to rename and delete files in the browser menu.

--Press to add shortcuts for network access in My_Shortcuts in
NET of the browser menu.
Press to add/delete internet radio stations to favorite list.

14 TIME SHIFT

Press to activate the time shift function. Time shift function

allows you to pause live TV and resume the program from the
point you left it. While paused, the program is recorded to the
internal HDD as long as the space is available.
Time shift mode remains active until you press the stop button.

15 SLOW

Press to play back in slow motion. Press the PLAY button to

resume regular playback.

COPY

Press to enter the file copy menu.

AUDIO

Press to select an audio track.

Press to select the files in browser menu.

Press to add/delete scheduled recording in EPG menu.

19 EPG(Green)

Press to enter the Electronic Program Guide which displays an

on-screen list of programs for the coming week when watching
Digital Terrestrial TV. Press to add the selected files to the
playlist under browser menu.

20 TTX(Yellow)

Press to open Teletext OSD if it is available in the broadcasted

stream of Digital Terrestrial TV.

Blue

Press to activate sort function in channel set in TV setup menu.

SUBTITLE

Press to set subtitle options.

Press to change the view angle during DVD (with multi-angle)

playback.

Press to set the beginning and end points of a section to

repeat.

Press to zoom the image (photo or video).

Press to jump to a specific point on a title. Specify the point

using Title, Chapter and Time.

Press to return to the previous screen while navigating menus.

3. SETUP MENU

The Setup menu allows you to personalize and configure the preferences for your player.

To select a Setup option:

- Select the Setup icon on the home screen, or press the SETUP button on the remote
control.

- Use the LEFT/RIGHT navigational buttons to select an option, and then press ENTER.

There are seven Setup options, including DTV, Audio, Video, REC, Network, System, and

MISC. Use the UP/DOWN navigational buttons to select a menu. Press ENTER to confirm.

Press RETURN to cancel and display the previous menu screen.

3.1 CHANGING TV SETTINGS

Press the left / right button on the remote control to select the DTV tab from the menu bar.

TV Region

Select to set the region for Digital Terrestrial TV

Channel Scan

Select to scan for available Digital Terrestrial TV channels

AUTO SCAN

In AUTO SCAN mode, the system will automatically scan for available DVB-T TV channels.

MANUAL SCAN

In MANUAL SCAN mode, you can select the CH name, Bandwidth, and Input Frequency.
Use the navigational and numerical buttons on the remote control to select or input. Press the

ENTER button to confirm.

Channel Set

Select to edit channel information.

In this menu, you can edit the Name, and sequence for the DVB-T TV channels. Use the
navigational buttons to select and modify the settings,and press the enter button to confirm.
You can also press the blue button to select Sort.

3.2 CHANGING AUDIO SETTINGS

Use this menu to configure audio settings.

Night Mode

Choose between Off / On / Comfort. If the option is turned on, the audio output volume will
be decreased to make you more comfortable.

HDMI Output

Choose among LPCM Dual CH / LPCM Multi CH and Passthrough.

SPDIF Output

Choose among LPCM Dual and Passthrough.

Note: In raw mode, Dolby Digital, DTS sound can be by passed to the HDMI TV or Digital
amplifier.

Due to the bandwidth requirement, Dolby Digtial Plus sound and Dolby TrueHD only can be
by passed though HDMI calbe, also the TV system must up to 720p or above.

3.3 CHANGING VIDEO SETTINGS

Use this menu to configure video settings.

Aspect Ratio

- Pan Scan 4:3: Display a wide picture on the entire screen and cuts off the redundant
portions. Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected.

- Letter Box 4:3: Display a wide picture with two black borders on the top and bottom of
4:3 screen. Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected.

- 16:9: Compress the image to convert the whole image. Select when a 16:9 TV is
connected.

Zoom Out

Select to zoom out the image size during video playback.

Brightness

Adjust the level of brightness.

Contrast

Adjust the level of contrast.

Hue

Adjust the level of hue.

Saturation

Adjust the level of saturation.

TV SYSTEM

Select to adjust video output resolution: NTSC / PAL / 480P / 576P / 720P 50HZ / 720P 60HZ
/ 1080I 50HZ / 1080I 60HZ / 1080P 50HZ / 1080P 60HZ.

Screen Size

Adjust the video output size according to the size of TV screen.

3.4 CHANGING RECORD SETTINGS

Quality

Select to set the default recording quality setting.

Press the up / down button to select the quality setting you require. The highest quality
setting is HQ which requires the most storage space. The other settings reduce recording
quality sequentially but also require less storage space.

Permanent Timeshift

Select to set Time Shift mode.

Press the up / down button to select from On and Off. Press the enter button to confirm. If
On, the time shift will start automatically while in Video In mode.

REC Device

Select to set device to restore the recorded files.

3.5 CHANGING NETWORK SETTINGS

Use this menu to configure Ethernet and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) settings.

Wired LAN Setup

- DHCP IP (AUTO)

Select to obtain IP address automatically.

- FIX IP (MANUAL)

Select to manually input the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Server IP
Address.

Wireless Setup

- Selecting a connection profile

This player can store up to three wireless network connections. Press ENTER to go to next
step, press RETURN to cancel, and press PLAY to connect.

- Get Connection Mode

Choose between Infrastructure (AP) and Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc). Press ENTER to go to
next step, and press RETURN to cancel.

- Infrastructure (AP)

Infrastructure mode is used to connect computers with wireless network adapters, also known
as wireless clients, to an existing wired network with the help from wireless router or access
point.

- Get SSID Name

Press ENTER to go to next step, press RETURN to cancel, and press SELECT to refresh the
SSID list.

Note: In the Security list, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access)
means the network is encrypted, i.e. an encryption key is needed to access the network.
NONE means it is an open system network.

- Input WEP / WPA Key

Encryption keys can be inputted via the virtual keyboard. Press the navigational buttons to
select, ENTER to input, CAPS to switch between uppercase and lowercase, <- to delete a
character, -> to insert a space, SHIFT to make more symbols available, and OK to confirm.

- Test connection

The testing process will take for a while, please be patient to wait. If the test is ok, the network
information (Profile Name, IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, etc.) will be displayed on the
screen.

- Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc)

Peer to Peer mode, which is also called Ad Hoc mode or computer-to-computer mode, is
used to connect wireless clients directly together, without the need for a wireless router or
access point.

- Ad-Hoc Setup

- WPS (AP)

WPS, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, is used to connect a wireless router directly, without searching
SSID and inputting password. In this mode, you just need to configure the parameters of your
router which support WPS function. There are two modes for you to select, PBC mode and
PIN mode.

PBC

First press the WPS button on the router or select the button mode in the configuration menu
of the router, then select the PBC mode, the connection process will take for a while, please
be patient to wait.

PIN

Input the pin code when configure your router, then select the PIN mode, the connection
process will take for a while, please be patient to wait.

PPPoE Setup

Input the ADSL accountant and password in this menu, system will obtain IP address
automatically from the server based on PPPoE protocol.

NAS Mode

Select to turn NAS function On/Off.

BT

Select to turn BitTorrent download o On/Off.

Host Name

Select to key in your desired host name to be seen in your network.

3.6 CHANGING SYSTEM SETTINGS

Use this menu to configure system settings.

Menu Language

Select to choose the OSD (On-Screen Display) language.

Text Encoding

Select to set the text encoding option (subtitle display).

Login Control

Select to turn on / off password protect for the Web server (Neighbor Web).

System Update

- Select Extension Package Upgrade to update extension files for BT download and
SAMBA services.

- Select System Upgrade to update the firmware via a USB stick.

1) Copy ‘install.img’ to the root directory of a USB stick, and connect it to the USB HOST

port of the player.

2) Press ENTER to confirm.

Time

Select to set the system time.

Press the UP / DOWN button to select from Manual and Auto (via TV). Press the ENTER
button to confirm.

Press the left / right button to select each field and the up / down button to adjust each
setting. Numeric buttons are available here. Press the enter button to confirm.

Parental Control

- Select to set the TV parental control options.

A password will be needed for the modification. The default one is ‘0000’. Press the

numerical buttons to input, and the ENTER button to confirm.

Lock system

Press the up / down button to turn on or off the parental system. Press the ENTER button to
confirm.

Region

4.1 DTV MENU

In this menu, you can watch and record Digital Terrestrial TV programs, or have the time shift
function. To enter the DVB-T TV mode, select the DTV icon on the main menu.

The following are some functional buttons on the remote control available when watching
Digital TV programs.

Info Bar

While switching channels by the UP / DOWN button, an info bar will be displayed to show the

There’re 5 strings displayed on the bar. Taking the info bar in the above photo for example:

N/A – Stands for TV rating;

ENG – Stands for the voice language;

SS – Stands for subtitle;

TT – Stands for Teletext;

480 – Stands for resolution (SD - Standard Definition, HD – High Definition).

When the string looks concave, the option will be available.

Press the EPG button when watching DVB-T TV programs, the Electronic Programming
Guide will be displayed.

4.1.2 DVB-T PROGRAM RECORDING

Press REC button to start the recording, recording files are automatically stored in a folder
named REC by default.

4.1.3 TIME SHIFTING

Time shift function allows you to pause live TV and resume the program from the point you
left it. While paused, the program is recorded to the internal HDD as long as the space is
available. Press the TIME SHIFT button to active time shift function. Press PLAY button to
resume the program. Time shift mode remains active until you press the STOP button.

4.2 AV IN MENU

In this menu, you can watch and record audio-visual signal from the A/V IN jack on the rear
panel of the unit, or have the time shift function.

Select the A/V In icon on the main interface to enter this menu.

The following are some functional buttons on the remote control available in AV IN menu.

4.3 TIMER RECORD MENU

The Timer Record menu allows you to create, edit and delete recording schedules and view

Press the left / right button on the remote control to select the Edit tab from the menu bar.
Select Add a New Schedule and press the enter button. The schedule setting screen

appears.

Use the left / right button on the remote control to move between fields and press the up /

down button to adjust each setting.

This small preview window will show the current program of the selected

Press the left / right button on the remote control to select the Edit tab from the menu bar.

Select the schedule you want to edit from the list and press the enter button. The schedule
setting screen appears. Modify the schedule as described in ‘Create a New Schedule’.

Delete Schedule

Press the left / right button on the remote control to select the Delete tab from the menu bar.

Select the schedule you want to delete and press the enter button. A confirmation message
appears.

Select CANCEL, Delete the selected schedule, or Delete all schedules. Press the enter
button to confirm.

View Schedule Status

Press the left / right button on the remote control to select the Status tab from the menu bar.

The schedule list is displayed. Select a schedule and press the enter button.

4.4 BROWSER MENU

The browser menu allows you to browse and play media files stored on Removable Devices
(USB, Card), HDD, Network, UPnP-server, and Playlist. To enter the menu, select the
Browser icon on the home screen, or press the BROWSER button on the remote control.

The following buttons can be used while navigating the browser menu.

4.4.6 A/V STREAMING VIA NETWORK

You can stream the media files shared on the home network (Ethernet or WLAN). Please
refer to <3.5 Changing Network Settings> for details about network settings.

There are two ways to locate media files shared on your local network in the Network menu.
One is to browse through workgroup; the other way is to browse through ‘My_Shortcuts’.

4.4.6.1 Browsing though Workgroup

You can choose the workgroup which your PC belongs to from the workgroup list, find your
PC name, and press the ENTER button to confirm. Then you can select and play the shared
media files that you want to browse.

Note:

• While browsing high definition video files (resolution up to 720p / 1080i / 1080p) via
Ethernet or WLAN, the video might be buffering. It is normal due to the limit of network
speed or signal strength.

• Due to different network conditions, sometimes the workgroup might not be accessed or
shown in the list. And then you need to use ‘My_Shortcuts’ to browse shared files.

4.4.6.2 Browsing though ‘My_Shortcuts’

You can also set ‘Specific File Server IP’ and access it from ‘My_Shortcuts’ in the menu.

- Press the MENU button and a popup menu appears.

- Select Add to open a popup menu where you can input Label, Net User ID, Net Password,

Domain, Host Name, and Specific File Server IP. Select OK to confirm, Cancel to cancel,
and Simple / Detail to switch between simple and advanced options.

- Select the shortcut you added and press the ENTER button to confirm. Then you can select

and play the shared media files on the destination computer.

4.4.7 A/V STREAMING VIA UPNP-SERVER

A built-in UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) client has been integrated on the system, which
enables the player to auto-detect UPnP Media Servers on the network to browse and stream
media files from them.

4.4.7.1 Installing UPnP Media Server on your PC

There’re a lot of free and commercial UPnP Media Server software, such as Windows Media
Connect, Windows Media Player 11, XBMC Media Center (Linux/Mac/Windows), MediaTomb
(Linux), etc. Please install one of them on you computer. In the following chapters, we will
take Windows Media Player 11 on Microsoft Windows XP SP2 for an example.

4.4.7.2 Sharing Media on your PC

The Media Sharing feature of Windows Media Player 11 lets you enjoy the contents of your
Windows Media Player library from anywhere in your home.

- Open Windows Media Player 11, click Library -> Add Library -> Advanced Options to

add or remove media files from the library.

- Click Library -> Media Sharing, then you can allow or deny devices to access the media

library. Click Allow to authorize your player.

4.4.7.3 Streaming Media on your Player

- Connect your player to the home network (LAN or WLAN).

- Visit Browser - > UPnP menu on the player, select the UPnP-server, and press ENTER.

- Then you can browse the media library shared by Windows Media Player 11.

• Make sure your player and your computer are on the same local area network and
subnet.

• Firewalls may prevent your player to communicating with your computer. Please open the
ports manually and add your player to the ‘trusted’ list, or disable the firewall temporarily.

4.4.8 RENAMING / DELETING FILES

When navigating in the browser menu, you can press the MENU button to activate a popup
menu where you can rename and delete files or folders.

Press the UP / DOWN buttons to select from Return, Rename, and Delete. And press
ENTER to confirm.

4.4.9 MANAGING THE PLAYLIST

This player supports the playlist function, which allows you to add your favorite contents on
local HDD to the playlists (All, Music, Photos, and Movies), and enjoy them at any time.

4.4.9.1 Adding files to the playlist

Select the favorite file you wish to add, press the RED button, and the file will be ticked. Press
the GREEN button to confirm, and then an on-screen message ‘Add selects to list’ will be
shown. Multiple selections are allowed. See photo below.

Press the UP / DOWN buttons to select Play List in the browser menu. Press the LEFT /
RIGHT buttons to select between All, Music, Photos, and Movies. And press the ENTER

4.5 FILE COPY MENU

Select the File Copy icon from the home screen to enter the File Copy menu or press the
BROWSER button on the remote control, which allows you to copy files between Removable
Devices (Card, USB), HDD, and Network.

4.7 P2P SHARE MENU

Turn on the BitTorrent and SAMBA option in setup menu before using BitTorrent download
function, and make sure the player is connected properly to a LAN or WLAN with Internet
access.

Select the P2P Share icon on the main menu. You can see the status of torrents download
progress and configure the BT download settings in this menu. Press LEFT/RIGHT button to
enter into download menu and BT setup menu.

Add a torrent

Locate your torrent file in Browser menu,then press MENU button to add the torrent to start
downloading.

After add the BT torrent files, the download progress can be displayed in this menu.

4.8 NAS FUNCTION

This player can be used as a NAS (Network-Attached Storage) device. It can be attached to
the home network via either Ethernet or WLAN.

When the network connection is done correctly and ready for use, please turn on NAS
function in the setup menu in advance (refer to <3.5 Changing Network Settings> for more
details), and then type: \\IP

Address in the Run window (click Run in the start menu) or the

address bar of Internet Explorer on your PC (For example, if the IP address of the player is

192.168.0.9, please type:

\\192.168.0.9), and click OK or press the Enter button on the

keyboard.

5. UPGRADING THE FIRMWARE

The firmware is the operating system (OS) installed on the device. Firmware upgrades can
bring new features, improvements and bug fixes.

(1) Copy ‘install.img’ or extension files to the root directory of a USB stick, and connect it to
the USB HOST port of the player.

(2) Press and hold the power / standby button on the front panel, and do not loosen.

(3) Plug the power cable into the DC IN jack, wait for about 5 seconds or more, and then
loosen your finger on the power / standby button;

Firmware installation will start. There is another way for upgrading. Please refer to System
Update in chapter <3.6 Changing System Settings> for more details.

6.2 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question 1. When I try to disconnect the USB device, I keep on getting “The device
‘Generic volume’ cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.”
message, what should I do?

Answer:

Close any program that might be accessing data on the player, including Windows® Explorer.
If it does not work, close all programs and wait for another 20 seconds, then try the green
arrow icon again. If it still does not work, you should shut down the player and disconnect the
USB cable.

Question 2. I find new file names and folder names that I never created before or they
have strange gibberish names.

Answer:

Most likely, the player’s file allocation table (FAT) has been corrupted. This might be due to
the player shutting down (due to low battery power) while reading or writing to your computer
by the USB connection. Windows and Macintosh often write extra files to the hard disk such
as finder.def or System volume info. These are normal and will not do any harm to the player.

Question 3. I used my player to transfer files back and forth between different
computers. Will defragmenting the player hard disk do any harm to it?

Answer:

Defragmenting the player hard disk may be useful after having transferred many files to and
from the player. It is never harmful to use the defragment on the player. Make sure no other
programs are running while using the Windows® defragment utility. Make sure you have
connected the player with the external power adapter during this procedure.

Question 4. My files have disappeared from the player.

Answer:

Make sure that you browse your files via the correct browser mode which means correct
filtered views such as Photos, Music, or Movies.

Question 5. During power on, why does the TV will have a short flashing, blue screen
or screensaver?

Answer:

This is normal, when the system initializes, it will setup the corresponding parameters so it
can output the correct video signal to the TV, during the initializing time, the TV will receive
incorrect signals or the signals will not be stable and will cause the TV screen to flash, some
TV’s will treat this as no signal, and will display a blue screen or screensaver.

Question 6. Why when I switch to Y/Pb/Pr 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, does the
TV screen display an unwatchable picture?

Answer:

Please check if your TV supports Y/Pb/Pr 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p output, if your
TV does not support, please use the A/V signal display instead, press the TV SYSYEM button
on the remote control, then switch the TV’s video input to NTSC or PAL.

Question 7. Why is there no sound on movie or music playback when using Y/Pb/Pr
component output?

Answer:

Y/Pb/Pr output is a video output only, and does not include sound signals. When using
Y/Pb/Pr output, please plug the A/V OUT or the S/PDIF jack to output sound.

Question 8. I cannot get SSID name, the screen always displays: ‘Can’t get any SSID!!’

Answer:

When the WLAN USB Adapter is connected to the player, it needs some time to get
initialized. Please wait for about 1~2 minutes and try refreshing the SSID list again.

Question 9. I cannot see files shared on my computer via Browser->Network menu.

Answer:

Please check following items:

1) Connect the player to network and obtain an IP address first;

2) Please enable NetBIOS of TCP/IP on computer;

3) Please check your PC’s firewall settings;

4) Please enable your PC’s ‘Guest’ account;

5) Please share the folders which you wish to browse on your PC, and make sure that
‘Everyone’ or ‘Guest’ has the right to access.

Question 10. I configured everything correctly, but still cannot get the wireless network
or UPnP function to work.

Answer:

Are you using a firewall such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Personal Firewall, Zone
Alarm, etc. or even the built-in firewall of Windows XP? (Don’t forget that Service Pack 2 for
Windows XP automatically upgrades your firewall and turn it on by default)

If you have a firewall, it may need to be configured or have exceptions created to allow you to
see and communicate with the player on the network. To test if your firewall is preventing
network communication (including PING and access shared folders), try disabling it to see if
you can connect. If you can connect with the firewall disabled, you may need to add the
player to the ‘Trusted’ list or configure the firewall for local intranet access. Worst-case,
disable your firewall long enough to use the player, then enable it again when done.

Question 11. I am using the 802.11n Wi-Fi dongle with an 802.11n wireless router, why
the speed is still 802.11g 54Mbps rather than 300Mbps?

Answer:

The IEEE 802.11n Draft standard prohibits using high throughput with WEP or TKIP as the

Question 12. Where can I find .torrent files for BitTorrent download?

Answer:

A lot of torrent sites can be found on the Internet, such as The Pirate Bay, Isohunt.com,
TorrentPortal.com, Mininova.org, etc. Please take care of the contents you’re downloading
and their usage, which might cause copyright infringements and violate the local laws.

Question 13. Why couldn’t the player find the hard disc?

Answer:

Make sure the firmware is installed correctly, and no system partitions on the HDD were
deleted. If hard disc failure occurs, please backup your data and reinstall the firmware.

Question 14. Some functions like recording, time shift etc. do not work. What should I
do?

Answer:

If you find some functions do not work properly on the player, please change system settings
to the default (Refer to <3.6 Changing system settings>).

1.3 ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЯ

Этот плеер спроектирован и изготовлен так, чтобы обеспечить вашу безопасность. Для

1.3.2 НАПРЯЖЕНИЕ ПИТАНИЯ

Напряжение питания плеера: AC 100~240V.

При использовании данного плеера пожалуйста, присоедините прилагаемый адаптер
питания к соответствующему разъему плеера. При подключении убедитесь, что кабели
адаптера питания не повреждены и не имеют пережатий. Чтобы исключить опасность
поражения электрическим током всегда отключайте адаптер от сети перед чисткой.
Никогда не включайте адаптер во влажных и пыльных помещениях. Не заменяйте
адаптер питания, кабели или разъемы

1.3.3 РАДИОПОМЕХИ

- Если не используется специальное экранирование, большинство электронных

устройств могут вызывать радиопомехи. В определенных условиях ваш плеер может
принимать помехи.

- Плеер разработан в соответствии со стандартом FCC/CE и отвечает следующим

требованиям:

1.3.4 РЕМОНТ

Если в плеере обнаружены неисправности, Вы должны передать его в авторизованный

1.3.5 УТИЛИЗАЦИЯ ПЛЕЕРА

1.3.6 ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЯ ПО ИСПОЛЬЗОВАНИЮ ЖЕСТКОГО ДИСКА

Данный плеер использует жесткий диск для хранения данных. В обычных условиях
форматирование и восстановление не требуется. Внимательно прочтите раздел

<6.2 Ответы на часто задаваемые вопросы> и обратитесь к веб-сайту iconbit.ru для
получения новейшей информации перед форматированием жесткого диска.

-Физическое воздействие на жесткий диск может привести к появлению поврежденных

секторов, Вы можете использовать утилиту CHKDSK для решения проблем.

- Все данные, хранимые на жестком диске плеера, могут быть утеряны вследствие

физического воздействия, короткого замыкания, потери электропитания,
форматирования и тд. Всегда выполняйте резервное копирование данных.

- Рекомендуется делать дефрагментацию после продолжительного использования

жесткого диска.

- Регулярно выполняйте резервное копирование данных с жесткого диска с целью

восстановления в случае потери или повреждения. Наша компания не несет
ответственности за утрату данных, сохраненных на жестком диске.

1.3.7 ДРУГИЕ ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЯ

При использовании плеера не допускайте его контакта с водой и другими жидкостями,
если вода все же попала на плеер, протрите его сухой мягкой тканью. Электронные
устройства хрупки, не трясите и не ударяйте плеер, не нажимайте слишком сильно на
кнопки.

- Не допускайте попадания на плеер воды и других жидкостей

- Не разбирайте плеер, не ремонтируйте плеер и не изменяйте его конструкцию. Любые

повреждения лишают Вас гарантийного ремонта.

- Не нажимайте слишком сильно на кнопки.

- Не роняйте и не трясите плеер, не подвергайте плеер воздействию магнитных

излучений.

- В случае электростатического разряда или сильного воздействия электромагнитного

излучения устройство может неправильно функционировать. В этом случае отсоедините
питание плеера и устройство вернется в рабочее состояние после повторного
включения.

1.4 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЯ

1.4.1 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ ИСТОЧНИКА ПИТАНИЯ

(1) В соответствии с рисунком подключите адаптер питания с разъему плеера DC IN;

(2) В соответствии с рисунком подключите вилку адаптера питания в розетку.

1.4.2 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ К КОМПЬЮТЕРУ

(1) Убедитесь, что плеер включен;

(2) Подключите квадратный разъем (B-Male) USB кабеля к USB порту плеера;

(3) Подключите прямоугольный разъем (A-Male) USB кабеля к компьютеру.

При таком подключении Вы можете управлять содержимым жесткого диска плеера с
Вашего компьютера.

(2) Вставьте флэш накопитель или жесткий диск USB в порт USB HOST плеера.

При таком подключении Вы можете просматривать содержимое устройства USB.

1.4.4 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ КАРТ ПАМЯТИ

Карты памяти могут быть использованы при подключении к слоту для карт.

(1) Согласно рисунку правильно вставьте карту памяти в слот для карт;

(2) Вставляйте карту памяти в направлении стрелки как показано на рисунке.

При таком подключении Вы можете просматривать содержимое карты памяти.

1.4.5.1 Аудио/видео вход

(1) Подключите 3 цветных разъема к гнезду A/V IN плеера как показано на рисунке;

TV/IPTV цифрового ресивера.

Вывод аудиосигнала при использовании Y/Pb/Pr подключения:
Первый способ: используйте аудиовыходы гнезда A/V OUT на плеере;
Второй способ: используйте цифровые аудиовыходы плеера S/PDIF Coaxial или Optical.

1.4.5.5 HDMI выход.

(1) Подключите один разъем HDMI кабеля к гнезду HDMI плеера как показано на
рисунке;

(2) Подключите другой разъем HDMI кабеля к гнезду HDMI телевизора как показано на

При таком подключении Вы получите самое высокое качество изображения и звука с
помощью всего одного кабеля.

1.4.5.6 Антенна

В соответствии с рисунком подключите ТВ антенну к разъему ANT. / RF IN вашего
плеера.

1.4.5.7 ANT. / RF OUT

(1) Убедитесь, что плеер включен;
(2) Убедитесь, что ТВ антенна подключена к разъему ANT. / RF IN;
(3) В соответствии с рисунком подключите ТВ кабель к разъему ANT. / RF OUT, а затем

подключите кабель к телевизору или другому ТВ ресиверу.

Плеер может пропускать DVB-T сигнал к другому ТВ ресиверу. В этом случае, Вы
можете смотреть ТВ-передачи с помощью другого ТВ ресивера во время записи.

1.4.6 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ К ЦИФРОВОМУ РЕСИВЕРУ

(1) Согласно рисунку подключите разъем RCA коаксиального кабеля к гнезду S/PDIF/
Coaxial плеера. Если Вы используете оптический кабель, подключите разъем Toslink к
гнезду S/PDIF Optical плеера.

(2) Согласно рисунку подключите другой разъем коаксиального или оптического кабеля к
цифровому аудиоустройству (ресиверу или декодеру).

Примечание: Оптический и коаксиальный кабель в комплект поставки не входят.

1.4.7 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ ПО ЛОКАЛЬНОЙ СЕТИ

Для подключения к локальной сети Вам необходим сетевой кабель категорий 5, 5e или 6
(в комплект поставки не входит).

(1) Соедините один прозрачный разъем сетевого кабеля к гнезду RJ45 LAN плеера;

(2) Соедините другой прозрачный разъем сетевого кабеля к гнезду вашего роутера,
коммутатора или хаба.

1.4.8 ПОДКЛЮЧЕНИЕ К БЕСПРОВОДНОЙ СЕТИ

(1) Убедитесь что плеер включен;
(2) Подключите беспроводной USB Adapter (т.н. Wi-Fi USB Dongle) к порту USB HOST

плеера.

1.5 ВКЛЮЧЕНИЕ/ВЫКЛЮЧЕНИЕ

Включение

После присоединения шнура питания и нажатия кнопки на передней панели, плеер
через некоторое время покажет начальный экран, и индикатор питания загорится синим
цветом.

Выключение

Нажмите кнопку питания на передней панели, после чего плеер через некоторое время
войдет в режим ожидания, и индикатор питания загорится красным цветом. После этого
можно отсоединить плеер от сети.

1.6 ЯЗЫК МЕНЮ.

Языком системы может быть английский или другие языки. Выберите требуемый язык в
меню установок, язык системы изменится немедленно.

1.7 ФОРМАТИРОВАНИЕ ЖЕСТКОГО ДИСКА

Если Вы желаете установить в плеер новый жесткий диск с интерфейсом SATA,
пожалуйста, проделайте следующие процедуры для форматирования жесткого диска
перед его использованием в плеере.

Шаг 1: Выберите OK в окне предупреждения, нажмите для подтверждения ENTER.

3. МЕНЮ НАСТРОЕК

Меню настроек позволит Вам персонифицировать и сконфигурировать настройки
вашего плеера.

Для выбора меню настроек:

- Выберите иконку Setup на начальном экране, или нажмите кнопку SETUP пульта
дистанционного управления.

- Используйте навигационные кнопки LEFT/RIGHT для выбора разделов, затем
нажмите кнопку ENTER.

Имеются пять подразделов в меню настроек: DTV, Audio, Video, REC, Network, System

Выберите эту опцию для правки информации о канале.

В этом меню вы можете задать имена и последовательность DVB-T каналов. Вы также

Используйте это меню для конфигурации параметров звука.

- Pan Scan 4:3: Широкоформатное изображение выводится на весь экран с обрезкой.

- Letter Box 4:3: Широкоформатное изображение выводится полностью с черными
полосами сверху и снизу. Выберите этот режим при подключении к телевизору 4:3.

- 16:9: Преобразует изображение для показа на широкоформатном экране. Выберите

3.4 ИЗМЕНЕНИЕ НАСТРОЕК ЗАПИСИ

Качество

Выбор предустановленных настроек качества записи.

Кнопками вверх / вниз выберите необходимый уровень качества записи. Самое лучшее
качество записываемого материала вы можете получить, выставив режим HQ, но он
займет максимальное кол-во места на жестком диске. Другие режимы расположены по
порядку снижения качества записи и занимают меньше места.

Постоянный сдвиг по времени (Timeshift)

Настройка режима Time Shift.

Если данный режим активирован Timeshift включится сразу после входа в меню Video In
(Видео вход).

Выбор ресурса для записи

Настройка позволяющая выбрать, на какой ресурс записывать захваченные файлы.

Настройки проводной локальной сети

- DHCP IP (AUTO)

Выберите для получения сетевого адреса автоматически.

- FIX IP (MANUAL)

Выберите для ручного ввода сетевых параметров (IP-адрес, маска подсети, шлюз по
умолчанию и DNS сервер)

Настройки беспроводного соединения

- Выбор профиля соединения.

Этот плеер может сохранять до 3 профилей беспроводных соединений. Нажмите

ENTER для перехода к следующему шагу, нажмите RETURN для отмены или нажмите
PLAY для установки связи.

- Установка типа соединения

Выберите Infrastructure (AP) или Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc). Нажмите ENTER для перехода
к следующему шагу, нажмите RETURN для отмены.

- Infrastructure (AP)

Режим инфраструктуры используется для присоединения компьютеров посредством
беспроводных адаптеров, т.н. беспроводных клиентов, к существующим проводным
сетям с помощью роутера или точки доступа.

- Получение заголовка сети

Нажмите ENTER для перехода к следующему шагу, нажмите RETURN для отмены и
нажмите SELECT для обновления списка SSID.

Примечание: В списке параметров безопасности, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) и WPA
(Wi-Fi Protected Access) обозначают шифрование сети, т.е. Вам необходим ключ для
доступа к такой сети. NONE обозначает незашифрованную сеть.

- Вввод ключа сети

Ключи шифрования вводятся с помощью виртуальной клавиатуры. Используйте
навигационные клавиши для выбора, кнопку ENTER для ввода, CAPS для переключения
регистра, <- для удаления символа, -> для ввода пробела, SHIFT для использования
дополнительных символов, OK для подтверждения.

- Тест соединения

Тестирование может занять продолжительное время, подождите окончания процесса.
Если тест прошел успешно, информация о сети (Profile Name, IP address, Subnet Mask,

Gateway и т.д.) отобразятся на экране.

- Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc)

Режим Peer to Peer, т.н. Ad Hoc или режим компьютер-компьютер, используется для
непосредственного соединения беспроводных клиентов, без необходимости применения
беспроводного роутера или точки доступа.

- WPS (AP)

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) используется для непосредственного подключения

беспроводного роутера без поиска сети и ввода пароля. В этом режиме Вам

выбрать из двух режимов: PBC и PIN.

PBC

Нажмите на кнопку WPS на роутере или выберите этот режим в меню роутера, затем
выберите режим PBC. Процесс подключения займет некоторое время, подождите,

PIN

Введите пин-код во время настройки роутера, затем выберите режим PIN. Процесс

4.1.3 ФУНКЦИЯ TIME SHIFT

Эта функция позволяет ставить на паузу ТВ-вещание и возобновлять просмотр с этого же
момента. Во время паузы видео записывается на внутренний жесткий диск, до тех пор, пока
на нем не закончится свободное место. Нажмите на кнопку TIME SHIFT для активации
функции Time Shift. Нажмите на PLAY чтобы возобновить просмотр. Режим Time Shift
остается активным до нажатия на кнопку STOP.

4.2 МЕНЮ «ВИДЕО ВХОД» (AV IN)

В этом меню вы можете просматривать и записывать сигнал, поданный на композитный
(AV) вход плеера или воспользоваться функцией time shift.

В главном меню выберите иконку A/V In, и войдите в это меню.

4.4.6 ПРОСМОТР ПОТОКОВОГО АУДИО/ВИДЕО КОНТЕНТА

Вы можете транслировать медиафайлы открытые для общего доступа через домашнюю
сеть (Ethernet или WLAN). Обратитесь к разделу <3.5 Настройка сетевых
параметров>’ для получения информации о сетевых настройках.

Существует два способа доступа к медиафайлам в вашей сети через меню Network

(Сеть). Первый - поиск в рабочей группе, второй - через обзор в ‘My_Shortcuts’.

4.4.6.1 Просмотр в рабочей группе.

Вы можете выбрать рабочую группу, в которую входит ваш компьютер, из списка.
Найдите имя вашего компьютера и нажмите кнопку ENTER для подтверждения. Затем
Вы можете выбрать доступные медиафайлы, которые вы хотите просмотреть.

Примечание:

• При просмотре файлов высокого разрешения (до 720p / 1080i / 1080p) через
локальную или беспроводную сеть, требуется буферизация. Это нормальное
явление, скорость буферизации зависит от состояния скорости сети и силы сигнала.

• В зависимости от состояния сети, иногда имя рабочей группы может не
отображаться в списке. В этом случае используйте ‘My_Shortcuts’ для просмотра
доступных медиафайлов

4.4.6.2 Просмотр через ‘My_Shortcuts’

Вы также можете задать ‘Specific File Server IP’ и получать доступ к этому серверу
через меню ‘My_Shortcuts’.

- Нажмите кнопку MENU - появится выпадающее меню.

4.4.7 ПРОСМОТР ПОТОКОВОГО АУДИО/ВИДЕО С ПОМОЩЬЮ СЕРВЕРА UPNP

Встроенный клиент UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), интегрированный в систему,
позволяет плееру автоматически определять медиа-серверы UPnP в вашей локальной
сети, позволяя просматривать и воспроизводить медиафайлы с этих серверов.

4.4.7.1 Установка сервера UpnP Media Server на Ваш компьютер.

Существует большое количество бесплатных и коммерческих программных серверов

UPnP Media Server, например, Windows Media Connect, Windows Media Player 11, XBMC
Media Center (Linux/Mac/Windows), MediaTomb (Linux) и т.д. Пожалуйста, установите

- Откройте Windows Media Player 11, выберите Library -> Add Library -> Advanced

4.4.7.3 Трансляция данных на Ваш плеер.

- Подключите Ваш плеер к домашней сети (проводной или беспроводной).

- Откройте меню Browser - > UPnP плеера, выберите сервер UPnP и нажмите кнопку
ENTER.

Примечание:

• Убедитесь, что Ваш плеер и компьютер входят в одну локальную сеть и подсеть.

• Файервол может препятствовать связи плеера и компьютера. Пожалуйста, откройте

порты вручную и добавьте Ваш плеер в список "доверенных" устройств. Или
временно отключите файервол.

4.4.8 ПЕРЕИМЕНОВАНИЕ / УДАЛЕНИЕ ФАЙЛОВ

Во время навигации по меню обозревателя, Вы можете нажать кнопку MENU для вызова
выпадающего меню, в котором Вы можете переименовывать или удалять файлы и
папки.

Нажимайте кнопки вверх / вниз для выбора Return (возврат), Rename

(переименовать) и Delete (удалить). Нажмите ENTER для подтверждения.

4.4.9 УПРАВЛЕНИЕ СПИСКОМ ВОСПРОИЗВЕДЕНИЯ (ПЛЕЙЛИСТОМ)

Этот плеер поддерживает функцию плейлиста, которая позволяет добавлять ваш медиа
контент, находящийся на встроенном жестком диске, в списки воспроизведения (All,
Music, Photos, и Movies). Вы можете очень легко насладиться вашими медиафайлами в
любое время.

4.4.9.1 Добавление файлов в плейлист.

Выберите файлы, которые Вы хотите добавить, нажмите Красную кнопку, файл станет
отмеченным. Нажмите Зеленую кнопку для подтверждения, после чего появится окно
подтверждения ‘Add selects to list’. Разрешается выделение нескольких файлов.

4.4.9.2 Навигация по плейлисту.

Нажимайте кнопки UP / DOWN для выбора Play List в меню обозревателя. Нажимайте
кнопки LEFT / RIGHT для выбора между пунктами All, Music, Photos и Movies. Нажмите
кнопку ENTER для подтверждения. Вы войдете в режим плейлиста.

Если Вы хотите удалить файл из плейлиста, нажмите красную кнопку, чтобы выбрать
файл для удаления, затем нажмите зеленую кнопку для подтверждения. При удалении
из плейлиста физически файл не удаляется.

4.5. МЕНЮ КОПИРОВАНИЯ ФАЙЛОВ

Выберите иконку File Copy в начальном экране чтобы войти в меню File Copy (меню
копирования), в котором Вы можете копировать файлы между съемными носителями
(картами памяти, USB), жестким диском и сетевыми ресурсами.

4.7 МЕНЮ P2P SHARE

Включите опции BitTorrent и SAMBA в меню настроек перед тем как начать использовать
функцию BitTorrent, и убедитесь, что плеер подключен к проводной или беспроводной
сети с доступом в Интернет.

В главном меню выберите иконку P2P Share. Вы увидите состояние загрузки торрентов
и сможете изменить настройки загрузки торрентов. Нажмите кнопку LEFT/RIGHT чтобы
войти в меню загрузок и настройки BitTorrent.

Добавление нового торрента

Выберите torrent-файл в меню обозревателя, затем нажмите кнопку MENU для
добавления торрента и начала загрузки.

Управление загрузками

После добавления torrent-файлов, состояние загрузки будет отображаться в этом меню.
