2. Proper use and foreseeable misuse __________________
The IBS-Parts Cleaner Type BK 50 has been designed for cleaning oily and greasy metal parts (e.g. machine parts, motors and housings) using IBS-Special Cleaners.
2.1. Approved Solvents
Solvents used with this machine must not contain halogenated hydrocarbons and m ust meet the following requirements:
Device Type BK 50: IBS Special Cleaner Type EL/Extra
IBS Special Cleaner Type RF IBS Special Cleaner Type Purgasol
NOTICE
2.2. Non-Approved Solvents
DANGER
Please observe any relevant local and national legal requirements concerning the use of solvents for parts cleaning.
Please pay attention to the solvent´s corresponding product information (EC Safety Data Sheet), before using solvents by other manufacturers. Prove in particular the compliance of the respective exposure limit value.
Please take advice from IBS Scherer GmbH. Please also note additionally the notes under 2.2!
The extended warranty of 3 applies only if IBS Special Cleaners are used.
The use of highly inflammable and inflammable liquids inside this machine is prohibited. The introduction of liquids with a flash point < 55°C, such as motor gasoline, is prohibited.
3. Function _______________________________________________
3.1. How the Machine Works
The self-priming pump transports the cleaning liquid throuh a hose to the hollow-cored cleaning brush. The workpiece is placed onto the support grate and brushed off with cleaning liquid.
The dirty solvent drains from the support grate via basin and drain connection back into the drum. By a process of chemical separation, the dirt and grease particles will sink to the bottom of the drum. Once the cleaning effectiveness of the Special Cleaner is reduced, the 50l-solvent drum needs to be replaced.
IBS Scherer will take back used drums containing waste solvent and recycle the liquid providing the customer has not introduced other (chemical) materials.

4. Transport _____________________________________________
4.1. Handling
Carefully transport the unit to the customer’s setup location to prevent any damage to the unit.
Secure the unit to the pallet to prevent it from sliding.
NOTICE If the drum is removed, one person can transport the unit to it´s setup location.
When transporting the drum, please follow the safety instructions on the solvent’s data sheet.
4.2. Transport Aids
4.2.1. Transport using a crane
Attach crane cables to the pallet and carefully raise the unit Pay special attention to the unit’s center of gravity. The unit may tip over!
NOTICE The crane must have a carrying capacity of at least 200 kg.
4.2.2. Transport using a forklift
Guide the forklift between the longitudinal braces of the wooden base of the pallet.
Lift the unit and transport it.
5. Setup / Startup ________________________________________
5.1. Securing the Unit / Stability
The unit must be placed in a level and stable location on a solvent-resistant floor .
5.2. Space Required
The unit may be placed in front of a wall. There should be approx. 1.5 metres of free space in front of the unit.
5.3. Acceptable Ambient Conditions
The unit will work optimally at temperatures between +10° and +30°C.
5.4. Connection Conditions
A professional electrician must perform the installation of electrical supplies for the customer.
DANGER
The electrical supply line is to be installed in accordance with all regulations and the information (technical data) in the instruction manual.
5.4.1 Prevention of electrostatic charge
5.4.1.1. Self-priming pump
The discharge of the IBS Special Pump´s electrostatic charge will be transmitted by protective conductor of the self-priming pump (socket)
5.4.1.2. Parts Cleaning Device
The Parts Cleaning Device must be connected to an equipotential bonding by the customer (which is connected with the grounding of the building) (please see picture on the right). This should be done by a skilled electrician.
5.5. Components / Add-Ons
5.5.1. IBS catch basins Type WK-50 (optional)
The prototype-tested catch basins prevent the solvent from penetrating the floor in case of spilling or leakage.
5.6. Waste Disposal
The unit is constructed primarily of steel (except for the electrical components) and should be disposed of in accordance with applicable local environmental regulations.
Contaminated parts (e.g. hoses, cleaning brushes, cleaning cloths etc.) should be dispo sed of in accordance with applicable environmental regulations.
Please contact IBS Scherer GmbH if you have any queries regarding disposal.
IBS Scherer will take back used drums containing waste solvent and recycle the liquid
providing the customer has not introduced other (chemical) materials.
If you decide to use solvents by other manufacturers, it is crucial that you follow the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer.
5.7. Operator Precautionary Measures
A 5-metre radius around the unit must be declared as danger zone. The resulting danger zone:
has to be marked as a fire hazard area because the solvents are inflammable,
has to be kept free from any objects to allow for unhindered access to the unit at any time,
and must have an effective means of natural ventilation.
Smoking is prohibited in the danger zone. Avoid open flames or other sources of
ignition.
Keep everything as clean as possible when working with solvents, oi ls and lubricants.
DANGER
Personnel operating or maintaining the machine must be trained beforehand. This instruction manual must be attached to the unit.
All IBS-Parts Cleaners have been tested and certified.
