IBM Security SiteProtector System SP3001 Getting Started Guide
This document guides you through the process of connecting and performing the initial configuration of your IBM
Front panel features
v A: LCD panel - use for initial network configuration, restarting or shutting down the appliance,
viewing the serial number of the appliance, and setting the appliance PIN.
v B: Arrow and enter keys - use to select menu choices and interact with the appliance using the LCD
panel.
v C: Serial console RJ-45 port - use for optional terminal-based setup, diagnostic testing, and recovery.
v D: USB ports (3) - for keyboard, mouse, and external DVD-ROM to retrieve data and install firmware.
v E: Indicators - to display status for alerts (amber), system ID (blue), and power (green) respectively.
v F: Power switch - to power the unit on or off.
v G: Management interfaces (2 GbE NICs) - use Management port 0 to manage the SiteProtector
appliance; management port 1 is unused. The Management port handles all network communication.
v H: VGA video port - for external monitor.

Before you begin
The steps you perform in the remainder of this document will provide you with remote network access to the appliance so that you can perform more advanced configuration tasks.
You can find more advanced configuration information in the "Configuring" section of the SiteProtector online Help.
Gather materials
You must prepare some information and gather your equipment before you can install your SiteProtector System appliance.

h 2 power cords (included with appliance)
Gather network information
Use this table to record important network information you need to configure the appliance:

Gather operating system product key
Use this space to record the Product Key of the appliance's operating system.
This Product Key can be found on the Certificate of Authenticity that is affixed to the appliance. You will need it in the event of a system restore.

Gather SQL Server product key and tracking IDs
Use this space to record the appliance's SQL Server license Product Key and Tracking IDs.
The Product Key and Tracking IDs can be found on the Certificate of Authenticity that is affixed to the appliance or in the accessory box. You will need them in the event of an RMA return.
Important: Save all the Product Key and Tracking ID information in a safe place.

Connect the appliance
Follow this procedure to connect and power up the SiteProtector System appliance.
Procedure
1. Connect both power cords to the appliance to prevent warning signals from sounding.
2. Connect the network to the management interface port 0 using the supplied Ethernet cable. Note that
management port 1 should remain unused
3. Turn on the appliance. The power button is located on the front of the appliance.
4. When the LCD display reads "IBM Security SiteProtector SP3001," proceed to Initial Configuration.
Initial configuration
Enter the network information you gathered earlier.
Procedure
1. Press Enter on the LCD panel. "Appliance PIN" appears in the LCD menu.
2. If you want to specify a personal identification number that users must enter to configure the
appliance, press Enter again.
Note: Use the Up buttons to navigate between the fields.
3. To configure the appliance to communicate with other devices, navigate to the Configuration menu
(using the Up configuration. Enter the information the same way you entered information in Step 2.

Note: Certain characters cannot be used in the Host Name. See the Microsoft article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909264 for details on naming conventions.
Note: A reboot occurs after you complete your network configuration.

Next steps
Install a Console
Select a local computer on which to install a SiteProtector Console.

Procedure
1. Access the IBM Security Download Center at https://ibmss.flexnetoperations.com.
2. Login to the IBM Security Download Center and click Download under the My software heading.
3. Under My Products, click IBM Security SiteProtector System.
4. Under Product Lines, click SiteProtector 3.1.
5. Click the Installation Packages link.
6. Download the Console-Setup.exe package to a known location.
7. Run Console-Setup.exe.
8. Read and accept the End User License Agreement.
9. Follow the installation prompts and enter any required information. The Console and Event Viewer
are installed on the computer.
Launch Console and log in
Follow these instructions to access the SiteProtector Console and log into it.
Procedure
1. Launch the SiteProtector Console.
2. Right-click the My Sites node in the navigation pane.
3. Select New > Site.
4. Enter the following information:
Option Description
Server The IP address configured during initial configuration.
User Administrator
Password ISSADMIN
Configure advanced settings
See the "Configuring" section of the SiteProtector System online Help for detailed information.
Procedure
1. Change the Administrative Password.
2. Change the Database (SA) Password.
Configure your Site
The "Configuring" section of the SiteProtector System online Help walks you through other important tasks such as configuring your security policy, creating firewall rules to protect your network, tracking alerts, and monitoring important system information.
