IBM Infoprint 1612 Express
Robust, highly reliable network printing for your business
With a small footprint and a low acqui-
sition price, the IBM Infoprint® 1612
Express network printer with duplex
delivers the functions needed to sup-
port small businesses and small work-
groups. With a fast print speed of
1
letter size
and 33 pages per minute
1
A4,
32 megabytes of memory, a first-
page-out time as fast as 6.5 seconds
1
,
and a 366 MHz processor, the Infoprint
1612 helps you work harder and faster
on demand.
Please users with an easy-to-use, intuitive
interface
The 1612 offers the flexibility to change
most printer settings from your software
application, the printer driver or the
printer’s operator interface.
The printer operator interface has a
two-line by 16-character liquid crystal
display (LCD), six buttons and one
indicator light. Use the buttons to open
a menu, scroll through a list of values,
change printer settings and respond to
printer messages. The LCD operator
panel presents more than 50 easy-to-
understand messages such as “close
door,” “toner low,” or “load manual
feeder.”

Power saving “Eco-mode”
From the operator interface, you can
select menu items and associated
values to help print your jobs success-
fully. Select the print media using the
Paper Menu. Use the Finishing Menu to
define how the printer delivers output—
collated, with borders, or multi-page
images on one page.
Obtain networking flexibility
The Infoprint 1612 Express offers flexi-
ble networking options—including
wireless. With wireless capability, you
can relocate printers quickly and easily
without the cost and delay associated
with physical cabling. Boost the
productivity of mobile workers by
allowing them convenient access to the
printer on a highly secure wireless LAN.
Expand the range of paper sizes and types
The most commonly used media can
be loaded in the standard automatic
250-sheet paper feeder. The second
paper source, the single-sheet manual
feeder, conveniently located at the front
of the printer, can be used for special
paper, transparencies, envelopes, paper
labels, card stock, or index stock.
3
You
can add the optional 550-sheet drawer
to increase paper options, reduce inter-
vention and improve user productivity.
The 250- and 550-sheet drawers can
be adjusted to accommodate legal or
folio size paper.
The easy-to-access output bin on top
of the printer holds up to 150 sheets.
The single-sheet rear exit provides a
straight-through paper path to help
reduce curling and potential jams—an
especially important feature for specialty
media.
Increase team productivity
Print multiple page images on one
page to save time, save paper and
save storage space. Use the “Booklet”
setting to print multiple pages in book-
let form without having to re-format
your document. Create posters without
a wide-format, specialty printer by
printing a single image across several
pages, which can be combined to
create one large image.
Add printing capabilities
Use optional flash memory to print
watermarks or overlays—such as
company logos or letterheads—
decorative borders and simulated
preprinted forms. You can also use
flash memory to enable third-party
solutions and custom fonts.
Manage the printer
The network model Infoprint 1612
Express has a resident Web page,
which you can access from your
browser. The resident Web page
features a real-time status window, and
it can report printer and supplies status,
printer settings, e-mail status alerts and
printing statistics. This management
tool also provides a “mirror” of the
messages that await you at the printer
on the operator panel.
Keep it simple
The Infoprint 1612 Express is shipped
with a setup guide to facilitate easy
installation. Designed for easy replace-
ment, the toner and photoconductor
cartridges are the Infoprint 1612’s only
supply items. The two-piece imaging
system can help keep your supplies
cost low—you pay only for the piece
you need when you need it.
Make a timely change
With features generally found in higher
priced printers, the Infoprint 1612
Express is a perfect choice to replace
older printers or expensive inkjet
printers while you improve speed and
quality and save money.
Keep costs down
The new “Eco-mode” option is
designed to reduce power consumption
along with noise pollution and reduce
unnecessary paper usage.

1
Exact speed varies depending on document complexity, system configuration, software application, driver and printer state.
2
The Image Quality (IQ) enhancement, whether 1200 or 2400, is a special print mode designed to vary the intensity of each individual printed dot by manipulating its size to produce the appearance of greater print resolution within the limitation of a set number of dots per inch (dpi).
3
See user documentation for specific media types, weights, and sizes that are supported.
4
IBM does not recommend printing this monthly maximum on a consistent basis.
