Manual transmission
The new Elantra’s manual gearbox also boasts newly developed high-efficiency features that reduce noise and enhance durability. An altered pattern, which relocates reverse, ensures snag free operation, while minimizing any opportunity for erroneous handling. Finally, the brushed metal and leather design adds an element of race styling and sophistication.
Automatic transmission
For those with an adventurous spirit, we added an elegant, stylish step gate shift lever for extra control of the new Elantra’s automatic transmission. The shift control advancement allows for simplicity of use, while adding new levels of hydraulic control to ensure smoother changes and a more invigorating driving experience.
A. 1.6 DOHC engine
The 121ps 1.6 DOHC engine was developed to improve performance and engine effectiveness by adding CVVT (Constantly Variable Valve Timing) to double overhead camshafts with 4-valves per cylinder. The resulting high performance engine is capable of instantaneously responding to driver’s needs and optimizing every drop of fuel, whether in brisk acceleration or over long distance power cruising.
Robust power for the road ahead
Elantra travels as well as it looks – with improved performance & engine effectiveness,
enhanced suspension for excellent ride comfort and breathtaking handling for a fun,
sporty feel.
Rear suspension
Spring into action as the Elantra’s multi-link rear suspension system of independent coil springs contributes to a more stable ride and better handling characteristics with solid resistance to lateral forces and improved roll efficiency while reducing NVH in all major areas. A stiffer body and improved suspension geometry help to isolate the cabin from road harshness for better ride comfort.
B. 2.0 DOHC engine
Offering additional power, the 2.0 DOHC engine also applies CVVT (Constantly Variable Valve Timing) to its double overhead camshafts with 4-valves per cylinder. Taking the output to 143ps, the resulting high performance engine instantaneously responds to drivers’ needs, optimizing every drop of fuel in acceleration or over long distances.
C. 1.6 CRDi engine
The 1.6 CRDi engine greatly enhances fuel efficiency, improves driving quality and is far quieter than other conventional diesel engines. Based on direct injection technology, the CRDi (Common Rail Direct Injection engine) injects pressurized fuel directly into the engine. At the same time, it reduces nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions, thereby making it extremely environmentally friendly.

ESP (Electronic Stability Program)
A cutting-edge driving stability system, ESP improves a vehicle’s handling, proactively controlling brake pressure and engine output during dangerous maneuvers such as abrupt turns, acceleration and braking, particularly on low friction road surfaces. ESP is a further enhancement to the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control System (TCS). Designed to keep unexpected and dangerous situations under control, it also provides ABS’ ability to change driving direction while braking and TCS’ capability to allow the car to start smoothly and safely without skidding.
Safety, in any situation
Cornering with distinction and equipped to ensure the safety of you and your family,
the new Elantra puts state-of-the-art active safety features such as ESP, curtain & side
airbags and active headrests at your disposal. Around every corner, we keep our guard
up so that you don’t have to worry.
A
B
A. Active headrests
The active head restraints can help reduce the load on the neck at the moment of a rear-end collision by using the force of the occupant's body against the seatback to move the head restraint forward. This action instantaneously supports the head and neck of a front-seat occupant and reduces the opportunity for neck injuries.
B. Curtain and side airbags
In the event of a side impact, both curtain and side airbags deploy to prevent injuries to the head and the upper body. They also help keep the passenger safely in position and minimize any likelihood of debris penetration to create an effective safety zone.
