RF Exposure Compliance and Control Guidelin es and Operating Instructions
To control your exposure and ensure compliance with the occupational/controlled environmental exposure limits,always a dhere to the following procedures.
Guidelines:
l Do not r emove the RF Exposure Label from the device . l User awareness instructions should a ccompany device when
transfe rred to other users.
l Do not use this device if the operational re quirements desc ribed herein
are notmet.
Operating Instructions:
l Transmit no more than the ra ted duty fa ctor of 50% of the time. To
transmit (talk), press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) key. To receive calls, release the PTT key. Transmitting 50% of the time, or less, is important because the radio gener ates mea surable RFenergy only when transmitting (in terms of mea suring for standards compliance) .
l Kee p the radio unit at lea st 2.5 cm a way f rom the face. Kee ping the
radio at the proper distance is important as RFexposure decreases with distance from the antenna. The antenna should be kept a way from the fac e and eyes.
l When worn on the body, always place the radio in a Hytera-approve d
holder, holster, case, or body harness or by use of the correct clip for this product. Use of non-approved ac cessories may result in exposure
levels which exceed the FCC's occupa tional/controlled environmental RF exposure limits.
l Use of non-approved antennas, batteries, and acc essories c auses the
radio to exceed the FCC RFe xposure guidelines.
l Contact your localdealer for the product's optional accessories.

In the Port text box, enter "22".

Programmable Keys

You can re quest your de aler to program your radio to use the following keys a s shortcuts to radio fea tures:
l Conventional mode: SK1, P1 key, P 2 key, Up ke y, and Down key. l Trunking mode:SK1, Up key, and Down key.
Please consult your dealer for assignable radiofeature s.

Before Use

Charging the Battery

l Use the charger specified by the Company to c harge the ba ttery. l Read the Safety Information Book let before cha rging.
The new battery is uncharged. Before initial use, fully cha rge the batter y to ensure optimum performance.
To charge the battery, do as follows:
1. Insert the output connector of the power adapter into the port on the back of the charger.
2. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet that is off.
3. Place the battery into the c harger, and then switch the power outlet on.
To determine the char ging status, chec k the light-emitting diode ( LED) indicator on the charger a ccording to the following table:

Glows ora nge The battery is charged to 90% or above. Glows gre en The battery is fully cha rged.
Flashes re d rapidly The battery fails to be charged.
If the LED indicator flashe s red slowly, take the ba ttery out of the c harger, and then replace it into the charger for proper contact.
If the LED indicator flashe s red rapidly, please contact your dealer to check whether the ba ttery or power adapter is damage d.
You can also charge the radio with batter y attache d. It is rec ommended that your radio remainspowered off dur ing charging.

The battery fails to make proper contact with the charger.

Attaching the Battery

To re move the battery, make sure that the radio is turned off, and then slide the battery latch upwards to unlock the battery.

Attaching the Antenna

Do not hold the radio by the antenna, as it may reduce the radio performance and life spa n of the antenna.

Attaching the Belt Clip

1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the screws counter-clockwise on the back of the radio and remove them.
2. Align the sc rew holes on the belt c lip with those on the bac k of the radio.
3. Put the screws back in place as shown below, and use the Phillips screwdriver to turn themclockwise until hand tight.

Attaching the Audio Accessories

For optimal waterproof and dustproof performanc e, do close the accessory c onnector cover and fasten the screw whe n no accessory is attached.

Adjusting the Volume

Checking the Battery Power

To check the battery power, press and hold the preprogrammed Batter y Power Indicator key. The following table lists the battery power

indications. The icon indicates that the battery runs low. In this case, please recharge or replace the battery.

Locking or Unlocking Keys and Knobs

When the keypa d is not in use, it is recommended that you lock it to avoid accidental oper ations.
To lock or unlock the keypad, do one of the following f rom the home screen:
l Press the preprogrammed Ke ypad Lock key. l Press the OK/Menu key a nd then press
To allow the keypad to be locked automatica lly, enable the Keypad Loc k fea ture as follows:
1. Go to M enu > Set tings > Radio Set > Keypad Lock.
2. Select Enable, and set De lay Time by pressing the Up or Down key.

In a ddition, you c an go to Menu > Settings > Radio Set > Optional Key to set whe ther the corresponding keys and knobs stillwork when the keypad is locked.

Using the Keypad

You can use the keypad to enter user aliase s or IDs and text messages.

Switching the Operation Mode

The radio c an operate in conventional mode or trunking mode. In conventional mode, you ca n receive a nd transmit voice and data after selecting the require d channel. In trunking mode, you can receive a nd transmit voice and data after the radio registers suc cessfully.
To switch the operation mode, do one of the following:
l Go to M enu > M ode > Manual Switch, and then select the require d
mode.
l Press the preprogrammed Oper ation Mode Switch ke y.
To allow the radio to automatically switch to a mode base d on signal strength, go to Me nu > M ode > Auto Switch, a nd then select Enable.

Selecting a Zone and Channel

In c onventional mode, the ra dio receives and transmits data and voice on the selected c hannel. A zone is a group of c hannels within the same opera tional area. Befor e selecting a channel, make sure that the cur rent zone contains the channe l.
To select a zone, do one of the following:
l Go to M enu > Zone, and then select the r equired zone. l Press the prepr ogrammed Zone Up or Zone D own key.
To select a channe l, do one of the following:
l Rotate the Channel Selec tor knob. l Press the preprogrammed C hannel Up or Channel Dow n key.
