1. Introduction All HYREL 3D machines are designed with reliability, reusability, versatility and repeatability
in mind. Whether a few parts or if you are setting up to do a light production run, they enable you to fabricate parts quickly.
Coupled with this manual, online videos, user forums, and customer service, you can pick up and learn how to fabricate your own parts quickly, as well as, learn how to perform maintenance on your HYREL machine.
All HYREL 3D machines fabricate models with a multitude of materials. Not restricted to ABS and PLA plastics, you can fabricate with Taulman Nylon 618, 645, T-Glase (a form of PET), PlastInk’s Rubber filament, and more filaments with the HYREL Mk1 Extruder.
On the same machine platform and with the HYREL EMO-25 Extruder, you can fabricate with Sugru, Air-Dry Clay, Plasticine, Porcelain, Play-Doh, Silicone RTV, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), and more.
The HYREL platform provides a very open interface to control your machine to experiment with more materials than ever possible before! As more slicing recipes for more materials become available, we will test them and publish them publicly for all to download. We do not restrict you from trying or using any material / filament; however, doing so may void your warranty on your extruder(s).
HYREL 3D Machines are an innovative combination of proprietary hardware, firmware, software, and material technology.
Congratulations! You’ve made a great choice!

1.1. How to Use This Manual This HYREL User’s Guide is laid out in easy to follow sections which cover Set-up,
Operation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting of your HYREL machine. Be sure to read each section carefully so that you will get the best performance from your system.
1.1.1 Highlighted Information
The manual is written in a step-by-step format so as to guide you through a variety of operational tasks. Information of particular importance is presented in one of three formats:
NOTE
A NOTE is used to highlight a specific point or to provide an operational tip. While useful, a NOTE does not indicate a procedure that can cause injury or damage if it is not followed. A NOTE will follow the paragraph of instruction to which it relates.
WARNING
A WARNING indicates a procedure that may cause Injury to an operator if the procedure is not followed. A WARNING will precede the paragraph of instruction to which it relates.
CAUTION
A CAUTION indicates a procedure that may cause Damage To Equipment if the procedure is not followed. A CAUTION will precede the paragraph of instruction to which it relates.
The HYREL machine guides you through operational tasks from a User Interface (UI) on the front panel of the printer. Throughout the User Guide, text representing messages that appear on the UI are presented in a specific format. Interface Messages appear as a bold, serif, fixed-pitch (mono-space) font.

Sections Of The Manual Overview...
Provides a quick reference for the layout of the printer and its operating components. Overview also provides a quick reference for sources of additional information and printer supplies.
Setup...
Guides you through the initial printer installation and setup. Topics include unpacking, connecting power, installing software, and connecting to a computer network. Generally, topics in setup are only required during the initial installation or relocation of the printer.
Operation...
Further develops your understanding of the printer by presenting the User Interface, Loading and Unloading of Material, Building Parts, Removing Completed Parts, and Removing Support Material. The tasks presented are common procedures used during the normal operation of the printer.
Maintenance...
Lists several tasks that you will need to perform to keep your printer performing at its best.
Some tasks are ‘As Needed’ while others are determined by a set number of printer hours
Our Repetrel Software includes an odometer of printer hours. ‘House Cleaning’, Bearing Maintenance, and Tip Cleaning Assembly Replacement, are procedures that you can perform with the help of the User Guide.
Troubleshooting..
Allows you to perform some problem diagnosis and correction procedures in the event that your printer has a problem. A Troubleshooting Checklist, Fault Determination Codes, and a Procedure to recover from a Loss of Extrusion are provided.

1.2. Warranty / Terms of Use Information May want to phrase this differently, and actually include some basic warranties and policies.
Warranty and Terms of Use are subject to change at any time. In any and all cases, you (user / customer) are responsible for complying with all of the warranty & terms of use with your HYREL Machine and components.
It is good to guide the user to the latest information online. For the latest Warranty / Terms of Use Information, please see: www.hyrel3d.com/terms
If you have any questions about Hyrel’s Equipment Warranty Policy, please feel free to
contact us by email, where we can answer your question(s) in detail and direct you to our web site Warranty Terms link. As always, you the Customer comes first, so if you would like to discuss by telephone, please feel free to contact us at:
2. Overview: (This needs to be changed, see other documents)
All HYREL Machines build models, including internal features, directly from CAD .stl files. The machines build three-dimensional parts by extruding a bead of material through a computer-controlled extrusion head, producing high quality parts. Some of these materials are ready to use immediately after completion, such as ABS, PLA, Nylon, etc. Other materials require a curing time before use, such as Silicone RTV, PMC, Clay, etc.
May want to change this sentence or give more of an explaination of the process. With the Slic3r / Skeinforge layer thickness settings, you can choose to build a part quickly for design verification, or you can choose a finer setting for higher quality surface detail.
Maybe include something like, The Software Engineers at Hyrel specifically developed the Repetrel 3D Printing Software
to meet a wide variety of user needs. We don’t limit the user experience to a “one size fits all” approach. In fact, we encourage you to explore all the possibilities of the 3D Printing
Experience. We are constantly adding new “recipes” to better tailor your build based on materials, build requirements, best practices experience. Our user community provide great feedback on our systems and accessories, many times giving us a look at their 3D Build Accomplishments.

The HYREL 3D Printing System consist of six primary components:
1.) Machine (x-y-z positioning machine, with no extruder heads)
Page 6

2.) Extruders (extruder printer heads which attach to the HYREL Machine)
3.) Accessories (accessories which assist with fabrication)
4.) Tool Kit (tools which assist with fabrication and maintenance)
5.) Removable Glass Build Platform (platform to which the material adheres)
6.) Repetrel (Software, preprocessing software which runs on Windows XP or better)
The HYREL Engine’s build envelope measures 200 x 200 x 200 mm (8 x 8 x 8 in). The HYREL System’s build envelope measures 200 x 200 x 200 mm (8 x 8 x 8 in).
HYREL Extruders are currently available in two different types:
1.) Mk1 Extruder – for 1.75mm or 3mm Filaments
2.) EMO-25 – for Emulsifiable-type of materials
Up to Four (4) extruders and accessories can be attached to the main yoke of each HYREL machine. Experimentation of multiple materials together in a single machine is now possible. Further, multiple parts can be simultaneously built on the same machine.
