WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switch. Do not use any phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas
supplier's instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer,service agency or the
gas supplier.

The owner should maintain a record of all service work
performed with the date and a description of the work
done. Include the name of the service organization for
future reference.
All aspects of the boiler installation must conform to the
requirements of the authority having jurisdiction, or, in
the absence of such requirements, to the latest edition
of the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54.
Where required by the authority having jurisdiction, the
installation must conform to the Standard for Controls
and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers,
ANSI/ASME CSD-1.
Direct all questions to your HydroTherm distributor or
contact the HydroTherm Customer Service Department
at: 260 North Elm Street, Westfield, MA 01085. Always
include the model and serial numbers from the rating
plate of the boiler/water heater inquestion.
CAUTION: Servicing, inspection and adjustment must
be done by a trained technician in accordance with all
applicable local and national codes. Improper servicing
or adjustment can damage the boiler!
The boiler should be cleaned and inspected once a year,
before each heating season. Make sure that the burner,
ignition components and vent system are free from dust,
soot, dirt, corrosion or other deposits that would impair
the boiler performance and safe operation.
Should overheating occur or the gas supply fail to shut
off, do not turn off or disconnect the electrical supply to
the pump. Instead, shut off the gas supply at a location
external to the appliance.

water. Immediately call a qualified service technician
to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the
control system and any gas control that has been
under water.
In Canada, the installationmust be in accordance with
the requirements of CSA B149.1 or .2, Installation Code
for Gas Burning Appliances and Equipment.

FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFORE LIGHTING
A,
The HW (constant pilot) appliance is equipped with
a continuous pilot it must be lit by hand. Follow the
lighting instructions exactly.
B,
BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the appliance
area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor
because some gas is heavier than air and will
settle on the floor.
• Ifyou cannot reach your gas supplier, call the
fire department.
C,
Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas
control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not
push in or turn by hand, don't try to repair it, call a
qualified service technician. Force or attempted
repair may result in a fire or explosion.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS

• Immediately call your gas supplier from a
neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's
instructions.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP! Read the safety information above.
2. Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
3. Remove control access panel.
4. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn clockwise
to "OFE"

5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.
Then smell for gas, including near the floor.
If you then smell gas, STOP! Follow "B" in the
safety information above. If you don't smell gas,
go to the next step.
6. Open the pilot sight door above the main burners.
7. Find pilot - follow metal tube from the gas control.
The pilot is between the two burner tubes behind
the pilot sight door.
D,
Do not use this appliance if any part has been
under water. Immediately call a qualified service
technician to inspect the appliance and to replace
any part of the control system and any gas control
which has been under water.
,
Turn knob on gas control
counterclockwise ,_--,
to "PILOT."
,
Push in control knob all the
and hold in. Immediately
light the pilot with a match.
Continue to hold the control
knob in for about one (1)
minute after the pilot is lit.
Release knob and it will pop back up. Pilot should
remain lit. If it goes out, repeat steps 4 through 9.
• If knob does not pop up when released. Stop
and immediately call your service technician
or gas supplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries.
Turn the gas control knob to "OFF" and call
your service technician or gas supplier.
10. Close pilot sight door.
11. Turn gas control knob counterclockwise
to "ON."
12. Replace control access panel.
13. Set thermostat to desired setting.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1. Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
2. Remove control access panel.
3. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn
clockwise _ to "OFF." Do not force.
4. Replace control access panel.
