USER’S INFORMATION MANUAL
DESIGNED AND TESTED ACCORDING TO A.S.M.E. BOILER AND PRESSURE VESSEL CODE, SECTION IV FOR A MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE WORKING PRESSURE OF 50 PSI, 345 kPa WATER.
Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switch. Do not use any phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier.
WARNING: Never store combustible materials, gasoline or any product containing flammable vapors or liquids in the vicinity of the boiler/water heater. Failure to comply with this warning can result in an explosion or fire causing extensive property damage, severe personal injury or death!
WARNING: Failure to properly vent this unit can cause excessive amounts of carbon monoxide resulting in severe personal injury or death!

WARNING: Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause property damage, personal injury (exposure to hazardous materials)* or loss of life. Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier (who must read and follow the supplied instructions before installing, servicing or removing this boiler. This boiler contains crystalline silica materials that have been identified as carcinogenic or possibly carcinogenic to humans when inhaled)*.

All aspects of the boiler installation must conform to the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction, or, in the absence of such requirements, to the latest edition of the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54.
Where required by the authority having jurisdiction, the installation must conform to the Standard for Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers, ANSI/ASME CSD-1.
In Canada, the installation must be in accordance with the requirements of CSA B149.1 or .2, Installation Code for Gas Burning Appliances and Equipment.

L’installation et l’entretien doivent être assurés par un installateur ou un service d’entretien qualifié ou par le fournisseur de gaz.
The owner should maintain a record of all service work performed with the date and a description of the work done. Include the name of the service organization for future reference.
Direct all questions to your HydroTherm distributor or contact the HydroTherm Customer Service Department at: 260 North Elm Street, Westfield, MA 01085. Always include the model and serial numbers from the rating plate of the boiler/water heater in question.
CAUTION: Servicing, inspection and adjustment must be done by a trained technician in accordance with all applicable local and national codes. Improper servicing or adjustment can damage the boiler!
The boiler should be cleaned and inspected once a year, before each heating season. Make sure that the burner, ignition components and vent system are free from dust, soot, dirt, corrosion or other deposits that would impair the boiler performance and safe operation.
Should overheating occur or the gas supply fail to shut off, do not turn off or disconnect the electrical supply to the pump. Instead, shut off the gas supply at a location external to the appliance.

Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control that has been under water.
N’utilisez pas cet appareil s’il a été plongé dans l’eau, même partiellement. Faites inspecter l’appareil par un tecnicien qualifié et remplacez toute partie du système de contrôle et toute commande qui ont été plongés dans l’eau.
1. STOP! Read the safety information above.
2. Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
3. Remove control access panel.
4. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn clockwise to “OFF.”
5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.
Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you then smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in the safety information above. If you don’t smell gas, go to the next step.
6. Open the pilot sight door above the main burners.
7. Find pilot – follow metal tube from the gas control.
The pilot is between the two burner tubes behind the pilot sight door.

FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFORE LIGHTING
WARNING: If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
A. The HW (constant pilot) appliance is equipped with
a continuous pilot it must be lit by hand. Follow the lighting instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the appliance
area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air and will settle on the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
Do not try to light any appliance.
Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any phone in your building.
Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
C. Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas
control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not push in or turn by hand, don’t try to repair it, call a qualified service technician. Force or attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion.
D. Do not use this appliance if any part has been
under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1. Set the thermostat to lowest setting.
2. Remove control access panel.
3. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn clockwise to “OFF.” Do not force.
4. Replace control access panel.

8. Turn knob on gas control counterclockwise to “PILOT.”
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold in. Immediately light the pilot with a match. Continue to hold the control knob in for about one (1) minute after the pilot is lit. Release knob and it will pop back up. Pilot should remain lit. If it goes out, repeat steps 4 through 9.
If knob does not pop up when released. Stop
and immediately call your service technician or gas supplier.
If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries.
Turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and call your service technician or gas supplier.
10. Close pilot sight door.
11. Turn gas control knob counterclockwise to “ON.”
12. Replace control access panel.
13. Set thermostat to desired setting.
