Model BS Special Wrist Pin Hole Grinder tvilh Model
BS Micrometer Set. and Stop Drive
Head

Model BS-Special Wrist-Pin Hole Grinder
HE Model BS-Special Hullo grinder is a
special development of ihe brake-type,
T
micrometer set and slop production grinder
for the purpose of grinding wrist-pin holes in
pislons lo extremely close accuracy limits and
practically perfectly in line. This permits the fit
ting of wrist pins in pistons w ilh
bearing surfaces than is possible by any other
practical method, at. low cost and at high rates of
production. This grinder for best results should be
used in connection with the Hullo Model MGAZ
or MGAX Machine.
The Model BS-Special grinder is also used ex
tensively to grind small bushings, inner ball races,
etc., two pieces at one time
work in a suitable fixture.
I t will be noted in the illustration that ibis type
grinder difilers from other standard models only in
Ihe stone assembly. The Slone holders each con
tain Lwo abrasive sticks, one of which is mounted
at each extreme end of the holder. These stone
holders are manufactured from special bar stock
steel, hardened and ground lo close limits, which
may be refilled al a nominal cost, permitting very-
economical operation of the tool.
The various metal parts of the grinder are
manufactured from chrome nickel steel and steel
of special S. A. E. specifications, hardened and
ground to close limits, assuring perfect operation
and long wearing qualities.
The double-ball universal forms a driving con
nection between the driving head and the grinder
body, permitting the latter to float freely in the
bore and centre and align itself. The universal is
hollow Lo accommodate an adjusting shaft and is
more nearly 100%
by properly spacing the
manufactured in various lengths lo
of the particular bore in which it is used.
The proper operation of the grinder requires a
reciprocating as well as a revolving motion. Ihe
speeds of which are determined by- the diameter
and length of the bore.
The Brake-type Driving Head permits the ex
pansion of the grinder while in operation and the
micrometer set and stop feature permits the grind
ing of bores to a predetermined size beyond which
the tool will not grind unless the adjustment con
trol is reset. Adjustment is accomplished while in
operation by setting up on the hand brake, putting
a retarding
transmitted through a system of
to the cone screw, which when turned draws two
opposed cones together imparting an outward
thrust lo the beveled portions of stone holders.
Automatic and micrometer adjustment of the
grinder is therefore within the control of the oper
ator
oversize.
If has been demonstrated that in standard pro
duction, Lwo of these grinders in connection with
a double head Hutto Model MGAX machine con
trolled by a single operator can produce as many
as 200 pieces per hour, holding accuracy limits for
straight and round of .0002".
Our engineering facilities and experience are
available al all times without obligation and an
analysis of any internal grinding problem will be
cheerfully given. Experienced factory representa
tives are always available to install Hutto equip
ment and properly instruct the operator in its use.
