that was improperly installed by the clutch manufacturer. The field bearing may have been installed without proper clearance, which may cause premature failure. All new units manufactured before 11/2003 need to have the clutch replaced before sale. Replace with new part # 539110668. This can be accomplished without removing the mower from the crate. Units already used will not be changed unless failure occurs. All existing
inventory should be returned for credit

Instructions:
1. The following instructions are to remove and replace the clutch while still in the crate. If the unit is removed from the crate it will make replacement easier but is not necessary.
2. Pull back the plastic from the back exposing the engine compartment.
3. Remove the back guard on the engine compartment.
4. Using a ½ inch ratchet and an extension, insert in the square hole on the primary belt idler (see figure 1).

5. Pull up on the idler to loosen tension on primary belts and remove the belts
(see figure 2). These are the two belts on the inside nearest the engine.

6. Remove the clutch wires from the clutch, which are held in place with slotted screws (figure 3 and 4).

7. Loosen the fixed before removal to aid in re-installation later.

To remove the bolt holding the clutch to the engine you need to lock the engine by wedging a screwdriver between the pinion of the starter and the flywheel (figure 6).
