ALUMINUM TAILGATE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
• The Husky Liners aluminum tailgate is Bright Dip Anodized for years of good looks. Maintain it as you would the painted areas of your
truck (wash and wax). DO NOT use abrasive polishes or chrome cleaners.
• The Husky Liners tailgate installs easily and uses the existing factory hinge points, latch points and tailgate support cables. The tailgate is
packaged completely assembled and no additional hardware is required.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
• Detach the support cables from the factory tailgate and remove it from the truck bed by positioning the tailgate approximately half open (about
45 degrees). Pull the passenger side hinge pin (1994-95 _ Dodge pickup’s require removal of one bolt prior to pulling the passenger side hinge
from it’s pin). Then slide the tailgate off the driver’s side hinge pin. Save the factory tailgate support cables and the passenger side hinge
bushings if so equipped.
• Remove the new Husky Liners tailgate from the carton. Attach the tailgate support cables and the passenger side hinge bushings. Install the
new Husky Liners tailgate in the same manner the factory tailgate was removed.
• Remove the original latch striker pins from the pickup box with a Torx® head wrench. Remove the washer and plastic bushing from the
striker pin and slide on the Husky Liners supplied tubing. Replace the washer and re-install the striker pin. (Ford and GM applications only)
* On Chevy/GMC applications it will be necessary to remove the taillight and hold the inside striker pin-nut in place. The nut must be
held in place or it will fall inside the bed walls.
• Adjust the striker pin to provide a smooth latch operation.
• Rubber bumpers are provided for some Dodge and Chevy/GMC applications. If desired, these can be mounted on the truck bed near the top in
such a way the tailgate will close against them.
