The Lightweight Ultra Compact Active System, L.U.C.A.S for short, is
a complete active two-way satellite system featuring a subwoofer and
two mid/high modules as tops. All of the system's electronics are
housed in the subwoofer: the crossovers, corrective equalization, con­ventional limiters for the tweeters, our time-tested Dynaclip circ u i t ry
for the bass speakers, plus the power amps and circuit breakers. The
integrated electronic circ u i t ry is precisely matched to the speakers,
making it easy for you to achieve the best possible sound and to
e n s u re the system’s
superior impulse response, while also allowing you to rest assure d
that the system is protected from overloading. What's more ,
L.U.C.A.S is about as easy to use as it gets. You don't have to worry
about tweaking frequencies or perf o rming time-consuming sound
checks trying to determine the right levels. All you have
to do is set up the system components, connect five cords and
y o u ' re ready to ro l l .

To achieve excellent sonic results
quickly using L.U.C.A.S,
follow these five simple steps:

1. Signal Input

The two electronically balanced XLR jacks serve as the inputs for the
audio signal. You also have two parallel outputs available for connec­ting additional power amps. L.U.C.A.S can handle a stereo or mono
signal, so if the need arises for a more powerful system, for instance
in a larger venue, you can combine two systems and operate them in
tandem, each in mono mode. Each of the two inputs is equipped with
a gain pot that controls its sensitivity so that you can adjust the
L.U.C.A.S power amps to the level of the input signal for the best
audio re s u l t s .
Note: If you want to operate L.U.C.A.S in mono mode, you must
route the mono input signal to the second input of L.U.C.A.S via a
m i c rophone cord. In other word, connect the cable from the Parallel
Out of the input that you're using to the second input. This is the
only way the mono signal will be sent to both tops.

2. Speaker Outputs

The two upper cabinets are connected via two Speakon sockets.
These have an impedance of four ohms each to make the most of the
power amps' output. For this reason, the system can drive no more
than a single top per channel and you won't find jacks for connecting
additional cabinets.

3. AC Power

Use this socket to connect L.U.C.A.S to an AC power supply. Before
you plug the system into a wall outlet, ensure your local mains volta­ge matches the specification indicated on the subwoofer. If you
attempt to run L.U.C.A.S on the wrong mains
voltage, you can seriously damage the power amps.

4. Mains switch

After you have connected all the necessary cords, switch the system
o n .

5. Ground Lift

When it is pressed, it separates the signal ground from the
chassis ground, enabling you to eliminate potential ground loops.

Fünf Schritte, um mit L.U.C.A.S einfach und
schnell ein gutes Soundergebnis zu erz i e l e n :

1. Signaleingang

Das Lightweight Ultra Compact Active System, kurz L.U.C.A.S, ist ein
komplettes, aktives Zweiweg-Satellitensystem mit einem Subwoofer
und zwei Topteilen. In den Subwoofer ist die komplette Elektronik für
das System integriert. Dazu gehören die Fre q u e n z w e i c h e n ,
K o rre k t u ren des Frequenzgangs, konventionelle Limiter in den
Hochtonwegen und die bewährte Dynaclip- Schaltung im Bassbere i c h ,
alle Endstufen und Schutzschaltungen. Dadurch kann die gesamte
E l e k t ronik genau auf die verwendeten Lautsprecher abgestimmt wer­den, was ein optimales Klang- und Impulsverhalten des Systems bei
gleichzeitigem Schutz vor Überlastungen gewährleistet und außerd e m
eine einfache Bedienung des Systems ermöglicht. Sie müssen sich um
keinerlei Einstell- und Einpegelarbeiten mehr kümmern, sondern brau­chen nur die Systemkomponenten aufzustellen, fünf Kabel
anzuschließen und schon kann es losgehen.

Die beiden elektronisch symmetrierten XLR-Buchsen dienen als
Eingänge für das Audio-Signal. Zusätzlich stehen für den Anschluß
w e i t e rer Endstufen parallele Ausgänge zur Ve rfügung. L.U.C.A.S kann
wahlweise ein Stereo- oder Monosignal verarbeiten, so daß für
g r ö ß e re Anwendungen auch zwei Systeme (jeweils mono betrieben)
k o m b i n i e rt werden können. Zu jedem der beiden Eingänge gibt es
einen Gain-Regler für die Eingangsempfindlichkeit, um die Endstufen
des L.U.C.A.S optimal an die Pegel des Eingangssignals anzupassen.

Hinweis: Soll L.U.C.A.S mono betrieben werden, muß das Mono­Eingangssignal mit einem Mikrokabel auf den zweiten Eingang des
L.U.C.A.S durchgeschleift werden, d.h. aus dem Parallel- Out des
benutzten Eingangs in den zweiten Eingang. Nur so ist gewährleistet,
daß das Mono- Signal auf beiden Topteilen ausgegeben wird .

2. Lautspre c h e r a u s g ä n g e

An die beiden Speakon-Buchsen werden die Topteile angeschlossen.
Diese haben eine Impedanz von je vier Ohm, um die Leistung der
Endstufen möglichst gut auszunutzen. Daher kann nicht mehr als ein
Topteil pro Kanal betrieben werden und es sind keine
Anschlußmöglichkeiten für weitere Boxen vorh a n d e n .

3. Netzanschluß

Hier schließen Sie L.U.C.A.S an die Spannungsversorgung an.
Bitte überprüfen Sie vor dem Anschließen, ob die Ihnen zur Ve rf ü g u n g
stehende Netzspannung mit der am Gerät aufgedruckten übere i n­stimmt. Falls Sie L.U.C.A.S an eine falsche Netzspannung
anschließen, können die Endstufen ernsthaft beschädigt werd e n .

4. Netzschalter

Nachdem Sie alle Anschlüsse vorgenommen haben, können Sie das
System jetzt einschalten.

5. Ground Lift

Dieser Schalter trennt in gedrücktem Zustand die Signalmasse von der
Gehäusemasse. Dadurch können eventuell auftretende Bru m m s c h l e i f e n
beseitigt werd e n .

Cinq étapes pour obtenir rapidement et
simplement un excellent résultat sonore
avec le système L.U.C.A.S :

Le système “Lightweight Ultra Compact Active System” abrégé
L.U.C.A.S est sonorisation amplifié complet. il est doté d‘ un
caisson basse et de 2 satellites. La totalité de l’électronique du systè­me est intégrée dans le caisson basse. Celle-ci comprend une part i e
f i l t re actif, une partie équalisation et des circuits de limiteurs aussi
bien pour la partie medium-aigue que pour la partie grave (circ u i t
Dynaclip). Cette partie électronique permet
d’optimiser et de protéger les haut-parleurs, vous offrant une grand
facilite de mise en œuvre .

L’installation du système consistera seulement pour vous
à disposer les enceintes et à raccorder cinq câbles.

1. Entréé du signal

Les 2 entrées XLR sont symétriques et vous permettent de
r a c c o rder votre signal sortant de votre table de mixage á la part i e
é l e c t ronique et amplification du système. Les 2 sorties XLR
parallèles vous perm e t t ront de vous raccorder sur un deuxième systè­me dans le cas où un système de son plus important serait nécessai­re. Lors de l’utilisation d’un deuxième système, chacun d’eux fonc­tionnera en mono. Le fait de ne re n t rer qu’une seule source de signal
n ’ a ffectera pas le rendement de votre système car un régulateur de
sensibilité d’entrée permet d’adapter de façon optimale le fonctionne­ment des étages de pulssance du système L.U.C.A.S en fonction du
niveau d’entrée.

Conseil: si le système L.U.C.A.S est utilisé en mono, vous devez re n t­rer votre signal dans une des 2 XLR d’entrée et re p a rtir au moyen de
la XLR de sortie (Parallel Out) vers la XLR de la
deuxième entrée. C’est à cette seule condition que vos
2 satellites fonctionneront.

2. Sorties haut-parleurs

Les satellites se raccordent au moyen de 2 prises speakon (NL4).
Chaque satellite présente une Impédance de 4 ohms chacune
de façon á exploiter au mieux la puissance des étages
d’amplification. C’est pourquoi, il vous sera impossible de
r a c c o rder un satellite supplémentaire par canal.

3. Raccordement secteur

S ’ a s s u rer avant le raccordement secteur du système L.U.C.A.S une
tension inappropriée, vous risquez d’endommager gravement
les étages de puissance.

4. Interrupteur d’alimentation

Une fois tous les raccordements effectués, vous pouvez
m e t t re le système sous tension.

5. Ground Lift

La seule commande supplémentaire que présente le L.U.C.A.S
est un commutateur Ground Lift qui, en position enfoncée,
s é p a re la masse du signal de celle du boltier.
On peut éliminer ainsi d’ éventuels ro n ro n n e m e n t s .

seguite questi cinque semplici punti:

Il Lightweight Ultra Compact Active System, in breve L.U.C.A.S, è un
sistema attivo a due vie completo, composto da un subwoofer e da
due satelliti medio/acuti. Tutta l’ amplificazinoe del sistema, il cro s­s o v e r, l’equalizzazione correttiva, il limiter per i tweeter,
il sistema di protezione, il circuito Dynaclip da tempo testato per l’al­toparlante delle basse frequenze sono raccolti nel subwoofer.
Il circuito elettronico integrato è specificamente dedicato per gli alto­parlanti e facilita la miglior risposta possibile al livello più
elevato, dandovi al tempo stesso la sicurezza di un sistema
p rotetto dal rischio di sovraccarico.
Ma ciò che più è interessante è la facilità di utilizzo di L.U.C.A.S Non
d o v rete infatti pre o c c u p a rvi di sgradevoli frequenze di picco né di per­d e re tempo ad eff e t t u a re sound check per determ i n a re
i guisti livelli. Non dovrete fare altro che collegare i componenti del
sistema, connettere 5 cavi e sarete pronti per cominciare .

1. Segnale di ingre s s o

I due connettori XLR femmina, bilanciati elettronicamente, sono
l ’ i n g resso del segnale audio. Sono inoltre disponibili due uscite paral­lele XLR maschio per poter collegare altri amplificatori. L.U.C.A.S può
e s s e re utilizzato stereo o mono; se necessitate
di un sistema più potente per un avvenimento più importante, potre t e
a c c o p p i a re due sistemi e utilizzarli in mono.
Ogni entrata è dotata di un potenziometro che permette di
a d a t t a re gli amplificatori di L.U.C.A.S al livello del segnale
d ’ i n g resso, per ottenere i migliori risultati audio.

Nota: se volete utilizzare L.U.C.A.S in mono dovrete usare
il segnale d’ ingresso mono n. 1 e quello n. 2 in parallelo,
per mezzo di un cavo micro f o n i c o

2. Uscite altorparlanti

I due satelliti sono collegati per mezzo di due connettori Speakon;
ognuno di essi ha un’ impedenza di 4 ohm e permettono di
s f ru t t a re al massimo la potenza degli amplificatori. Per questa ragio­ne il sistema non può re g g e re più di un singolo satellite per canale;
non ci sono quindi altri connettori per ulteriori satelliti.

3. Alimentazìone

Usate il connettore per collegare L.U.C.A.S ad una fonte di
alimentazione AC. Prima di collegare il sistema ad una presa
assicuratevi che il voltaggio corrisponda alle specifiche indicate nel
s u b w o o f e r. Se tenterete di utilizzare L.U.C.A.S usando
il voltaggio sbagiliato, pro v o c h e rete seri danni all’ amplificatore .

4. Interru t t o re principale

Dopo avere collegato tutti i cavi, accendete il sitema.

5. Ground Lift

Il solo altro elemento di controllo che tro v e rete in L.U.C.A.S è il
pulsanto ”ground-lift” (separatore di terra). Una volta inserito, esso
separa il segnale di terra dal segnale di terra dello chassis, perm e t­tendovi di eliminare i potenziali anelli di terra.
