Thank you for buying a new Hu-Friedy & EMS product. It meets the highest quality and safety standards.
Adaptable on the turbine connection of the dental unit, the AIR-FLOW handy PERIO 3.0 is available in 2 different congurations.
The conguration with the AIR-FLOW PERIO handpiece allows the device to remove subgingival dental plaque from periodontal pockets up to 5 mm after
initial periodontal treatment.
The conguration with the AIR-FLOW PLUS handpiece allows the device to both remove subgingival dental plaque from periodontal pockets up to 4 mm in
depth and remove supragingival biolm and surface stains.
This system is especially recommended for all patients suffering from periodontal diseases (periodontitis, peri-mucositis, peri-implantitis).

Adaptable sur le raccord turbine de l’unit dentaire, le AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO est diponible en 2 congurations différentes.
En conguration avec la pièce à main AIR-FLOW PERIO, l’appareil permet l’élimination de la plaque dentaire sous-gingivale des poches parodontales ayant

AIR-FLOW PERIO TREATMENT
Adaptable on the turbine connection of the dental unit. The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO removes the subgingival biolm during periodic periodontal treatments. Its long ne PERIO-FLOW Nozzle is specically developed for easy access to the periodontal pocket.
Indication for use
• The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO is intended for patients suffering from periodontal disease.
• The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO is indicated for the non-surgical removal of subgingival plaque in pockets up to 5 mm after initial periodontal treatment.
Contra-indications
Patients suffering from chronic bronchitis or asthma must not, under any circumstances, be treated with an air polishing device. The jet of air and powder
could cause respiratory difculties.
The treatment of deep periodontal pockets can cause bacteraemia. Please apply appropriate restrictions for the treatment of risk patients (endocarditis,
pregnancy, breast feeding, contagious disease, immune deciency, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, diabetes, haemophilia), patients under treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, antibiotics).
Do not use AIR-FLOW PERIO handpiece with nozzle immediately after subgingival cleaning (Ultra-sonic or hand instrumentation).
Predisposed persons may be sensitive to the powder. If allergic reactions are observed, stop using the product and completely remove it.

L' AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO est indiqué pour l'élimination non chirurgicale de la plaque sous-gingivale dans les poches jusqu'à 5 mm après traitement

Contre-indications
Les patients souffrant de bronchite chronique ou d’asthme ne doivent en aucun cas être traités avec un aéropolisseur. Le jet d’air et de poudre pourrait
provoquer des difcultés respiratoires.
Le traitement de poches parodontales profondes peut provoquer une bactériémie. Veuillez tenir compte des restrictions concernant le traitement de patients
à risques (endocardite, grossesse, allaitement, maladies contagieuse décience immunitaire générale, neutropénie, agranulocytosis, diabète, hémophilie),
patient sous traitement (radiothérapie, chimiothérapie, antibiotique).
Ne pas utiliser la pièce à main AIR-FLOW PERIO avec busette immédiatement après un nettoyage sous-gingival (à ultrasons ou avec instruments à
main).
Une sensibilité à la poudre chez les personnes prédisposées n’est pas à exclure. Si des réactions allergiques se manifestent, cesser l’utilisation et
enlever complètement le produit.

AIR-FLOW PLUS TREATMENT
Indications
The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PLUS Dental Handpiece is a dental handpiece intended for use in the cleaning and polishing of teeth by the projection of a mixture
of water, air, and Hu-Friedy & EMS prophylaxis powder onto the tooth surface. The device removes soft deposits and areas of discoloration and can be used
to prepare teeth for dental procedures such as the placement of composite llings, porcelain inlays, and laminate veneers. The device can be used to clean
implant abutments and to clean teeth prior to treatments such as shade matching, uoridation, and bleaching. The device can also be used to degrease crowns
and bridges prior to placement and clean xed bands and brackets on orthodontic appliances.
The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PLUS is intended for patients suffering from periodontal disease.
The AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PLUS is indicated for the non-surgical removal of subgingival plaque in pockets up to 4 mm after initial periodontal treatment.
Contra-indications
In order to avoid any risk of emphysema, hypersensitivity, bleeding and patient uncomfort, the use of supragingival powders (Hu-Friedy & EMS CLASSIC,
CLASSIC COMFORT and SOFT) is strictly forbidden during subgingival treatments (contacts with soft tissues, dentine, cementum).
Patients suffering from chronic bronchitis or asthma must not, under any circumstances, be treated with an air polishing device. The jet of air and powder
could cause respiratory difculties.
Predisposed persons may be sensitive to the powder. If allergic reactions are observed, stop using the product and completely remove it.
Do not direct the jet of powder toward llings, or crown and bridgework as this could damage the restorations.
Do not use the AIR-FLOW method on severely inamed tissues.
Never use an abrasive powder i.e. silica or alumina based. This would damage the unit.
The powders provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS are especially designed for use with the unit. Do not use powders from other manufacturers as this could
damage the unit or could adversely affect its efciency.

Les poudres fournies par Hu-Friedy & EMS sont spécialement conçues pour être utilisées avec le produit. Ne pas utiliser de poudre provenant d’autres
fabricants car le produit pourrait être endommagé ou son efcacité compromise.

Use only dry and clean air (oil-free).

Checking the turbine connection (Typical is shown)
The unit is equipped with an adapter specially designed for the turbine connection of your dental
unit. Only use the unit with this special turbine connection. To connect it to another type of turbine will
damage it.
The turbine of your dental unit must not be under pressure when to connect the unit. Do not activate
the turbine footpedal. If you have a turbine equipped with light, turn the light off.
Make sure the o-rings of your turbine connection are in good condition. A turbine connection with
o-rings in bad condition can damage the unit.
The user should check the compatibility of this connection with his chair.

Vérication du raccord de turbine (Raccord type illustré)
L’appareil est équipé d’un adaptateur particulier, correspondant au raccord de turbine présent sur
votre unit dentaire. Utilisez l’appareil seulement avec son raccord de turbine spécique. Le brancher sur
un autre raccord de turbine l’endommagerait.
La turbine de votre unité dentaire ne doit pas être sous pression pour connecter l’appareil.
N’actionnez pas la pédale de commande de la turbine. Si vous disposez d’une turbine avec lumière,
éteignez la lumière.
Assurez-vous que les o-rings de votre raccord de turbine sont en bon état. Un raccord de turbine
avec des o-rings en mauvais état peut endommager l’appareil.
L'utilisateur doit vérier la compatibilité de la connexion avec la chaise.

PREPARING FOR TREATMENT (ONLY FOR PERIO HANDPIECE )
PERIO-FLOW Nozzle installation
Do not use the PERIO-FLOW Nozzle in case of doubt that package seal was broken, or that
package or the nozzle is damaged.
The single use PERIO-FLOW Nozzle must be used for one single patient only. Never reuse a
PERIO-FLOW Nozzle because treatment will be ineffective and the risk of emphysema will increase.
The PERIO-FLOW Nozzle is supplied non-sterile.
The PERIO-FLOW Nozzle cannot be sterilized.
Before each use, make sure the nozzle is correctly attached. The PERIO-FLOW Nozzle must be
fully inserted.
For further information about the PERIO-FLOW Nozzle, please refer to the instruction manual
delivered with the PERIO-FLOW Nozzles.
It is recommanded to wear gloves.

PRÉPARATION POUR LE TRAITEMENT
Mise en place de la busette
Ne pas utiliser la busette PERIO-FLOW en cas de doute sur l'intégrité de l'emballage, ou si la
busette PERIO-FLOW ou l'emballage est endommagé.
La busette PERIO-FLOW est à usage unique et doit être utilisée pour le traitement d'un seul patient.
Ne jamais réutiliser une busette car le traitement deviendrait inefcace et les risques d'emphysème
augmenteraient.
La busette PERIO-FLOW est fourni non-stérile.
La busette PERIO-FLOW ne peut pas être stérilisée.
Avant chaque utilisation, vérier la xation de la busette. La busette PERIO-FLOW doit être insérée
jusqu'à l'arrêt.

Il est recommendé de porter des gants.

Drying the sterilized handpiece
Clean and sterilize the handpiece before rst use and after each treatment as described in the
chapter "Cleaning and sterilizing" in this manual.
Following sterilization, blow the interior of the handpiece from both sides with compressed air
to eliminate possible remaining humidity.

Setting the water ow rate
Never use the handpiece without water ow.
It is better to set the water ow rate before using the device for the rst time while the powder
chamber is empty.
Set the water ow rate from dental unit to obtain a small continuous spray.

Filling the powder chamber with
EASY FILL
Before using this product with the handpiece, please carefully read and follow the recommenda-
tions of the instruction manual originally delivered with this product.
Make sure that the powder chamber and the cap of the powder chamber are absolutely dry.
Moisture can cause the powder to cake.
Use only powder provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS.
Stop the lling when the level of powder reaches the edge of the Easy Fill. Do not ll over this
limit. The openings of the tubes should not be covered with powder. The tubes could get clogged.
Close the bottle properly to preserve the powder of the humidity.
Press the powder bottle to increase the powder ow.

Remplissage de la chambre à poudre

Ne pas dépassez la limite maximum comme indiqué sur l'illustration ci-dessus. Les orices des
tubes ne doivent pas être recouverts de poudre. Les canaux risqueraient d’être obturés.
Fermer correctement la bouteille pour préserver la poudre de l'humidité.

Closing the cap
Clean the threads of the powder chamber before screwing on the cap.
Ensure that the cap is correctly screwed to avoid projection of powder.
Do not shake the device as this could cause the powder to clog the tubes.
Check that you get a water spray.

Fermeture du bouchon
Nettoyer le pas de vis de la chambre à poudre avant de visser le couvercle.
S'assurer que le bouchon est correctement vissé pour éviter des projections de poudre.
Ne pas agiter l’appareil. La poudre pourrait obturer les canaux.
