1.0 Scope
This instruction sheet applies to the following HPW part numbers:
Enclosures: FCW4SP FCW12SP
FSP Series
Adapter Panels*: FSPSCD3 FSPST6 FSPB
Splice Trays: STRAY12F STRAY12M STRAY24F STRAY24M
*Contact HPW for information on additional adapter panels available for these products.
2.0 General Information
The FCW series of wall-mounted enclosures provide patching for ST or duplex SC configurations. The high-quality phosphor
bronze alignment sleeves, used in the adapters, will support all multi-mode and most single-mode applications. Fiber optic
enclosures are shipped with a modular mounting bracket installed that allows the FSP Series adapter panels to be snapped in
place. The FSP Series adapter panels are sold separately from the enclosures. The FCW Series enclosures also have a splice
tray mounting stud for installing two 7" or 10" splice trays.
3.0 Bill of Materials

4.0 Enclosure Preparation and Mounting
4.1. Wall mounted enclosures should be placed after careful review of incoming cable and patch cord routing. There
should be at least one meter of incoming cable available for use in terminating. This cable will be stripped to expose
the fibers and the fiber slack will be stored in the enclosure.
4.2. If splice trays are to be used in the FCW enclosure, install the splice trays first (See Section 6.0). If no splice trays will
be used in the FCW4SP, place the adhesive fiber management clips as shown in the illustration. If no splice trays will
be used in the FCW12SP, use the snap in wire clips in the mount holes provided. Note that the opening of the
adhesive clips in the FCW4SP should be to the inside of the loop formed by the clips. Alternate positioning may be
used if desired, but care must be taken to ensure that the minimum bend radius (i.e., 1.18 inches for 900 micron
buffered fiber) of the stored fiber slack is not violated. The positioning shown is the optimum for capacity and ease of
use.
4.3. If the enclosure is not already loaded with connector adapter panels, they should be installed now. Take care to orient
the adapters in a consistent manner, with all of the alignment keyways in the same direction.
4.4. The enclosure is ready for mounting. Use the enclosure for a positioning template, and use fasteners appropriate for
the wall construction.
5.0 Cable Installation (refer to illustration below)

5.1. Carefully feed approximately 54 inches (or more) of cable through the port in the cabinet. Mark the cable jacket where it
will tie to the cable tie bracket.
5.2. Carefully remove the jacket and all strength members to a point above (closer to the end) of the tie down point. (You will
place the cable tie on jacketed cable.) Follow the cable manufacturer’s recommendations for stripping and cleaning
the cable, if necessary.
5.3. Secure the cable to the cable tie bracket as illustrated. Do not over tighten the cable ties!
5.4. Loosely route fibers around the fiber management clips to determine the best length for terminating and storing the
fiber slack. Trim the fibers, if necessary, and remove from the clips.
5.5. Terminate the fibers according to the connector manufacturer’s recommendations. It is the responsibility of the installer
to determine the proper method of termination, including whether additional supportive materials (break-out kits) are
required.
5.6. When all fibers are terminated, clean the connectors and insert them into the appropriate adapters. Then, gently route
the fiber slack into the management clips.

6.0 Splice Tray Mounting and Capacity (refer to illustration below)
6.1. Both the FCW12SP and FCW4SP Enclosures are capable of holding two 7" or 10" splice trays. (Note: When high
density adapter panels are used, only one splice tray may be used.) When installing splice trays in the enclosure,
place the splice trays in the position shown below. Do not install the snap-in wire clips.
6.2. Each 10" splice tray can accommodate up to 24 splices. Each 7" splice trays can accommodate up to 12 splices. The
tray with the "F" suffix will hold most common fusion splice protection sleeves including heat shrink, glass, and hinged
adhesive types. The tray with the "M" suffix will hold mechanical splices from most major manufacturers.
