3 In st alling the S IM and mi croSD C ar ds
1. Remove the back cover.
2. Install the SIM card.
When installing the SIM card, insert the card gently until it clicks firmly into
place.
3. Install the microSD card.
4. Replace the back cover.

When charging your HUAWEI M ediapad's battery for the first time, cha rge it for at
least 6 hours to ensure that your HUAWE I Mediapad displays the battery
information correctly.
4 Swi tc hi ng Your HUAWEI Med iapad On or Off
Pre ss and hold t he Power button until your HUAWE I Mediap ad vibrates to switch on your
HUAWEI Mediapad. The first tim e y o u sw i tch on the t ab l et, comp l ete the set u p by following
the on -s cr e en i n struct i on s.

5 Locking the Screen
When your HUAWEI Mediapad is turned on, press the Power button to lock the
screen.
If your HUAWEI Mediap ad is idle for a preset period of time, the screen will lock
automatically.

8 Warnings and Precautions
To u se the device properly and safely, read these warnings and precautions carefully and
strictly observe them during operation. Unless otherwise specified, the term "device" refers
to the devic e and it s accesso ries.
Basic Requirements
During storage, transportation, and operation of the device, keep it dry and prevent
it fro m colliding with o ther objects.
Do not dismantle the device. In case of any fault, contact an authorized service
center for assistance or repair.

Without authorization, no organization or individual can ch ange the mechani cal,
saf ety , or perform a nce design of the de v ic e.
When using the devi ce, observe all applicable laws a nd regul atio ns and respe ct the
legal rights of o ther pe ople.
Environmental Requirements for Using the Device
Keep the device far from sources of heat and fire, such as a heater or a candle.
Keep the device far from electronic appliances that generate strong magnetic or
electric fi elds , such as a mic rowave oven or a r efrigerat or.
Pla ce t h e device on a st ab l e surfac e.
Place the device in a cool and well-ventilated indoor area. Do not expose the device
to direct sunlight.
Keep the ambient temperature between 0°C and 35°C while the device is being
cha rged. Keep the amb i ent temperatur e be tween 0°C t o 35°C f or us i n g th e de vice
powered by a battery.
Do not place any object (such as a candle or a water container) on the device. If any
foreign object or liquid enters the device, stop using the device immediately, power
it off, remove all the cables connected to it, and then contact an authorized service
center.
During thunderstorms, power off the device, and then remove all the cables
con ne ct e d t o it to prevent it from get ting dama ged due to l ightn ing st r i ke s.
Traffic Security
Observe local laws and regulations while using the device. In addition , if us ing the de v ic e
while driving a vehicle, co m ply wi th the fol lowi ng guidelines:
Concentrate on driving. Your first responsibility is to drive safely.
Do not talk on the device while driving. Use hands-free accessories.
When you have to ma ke or an sw er a ca l l, par k t he vehic le at th e road side befo r e
us ing your de v ic e.

RF signals may affect electronic systems of motor vehicles. For more information,
cons ult the vehi cle manufacturer.
In a motor vehicle, do not place the device over the air bag or in the air bag
deployment area. Otherwise, the device may hurt you owing to the strong force
wh en the ai r bag inflates.
Do not use your device while flying in an aircraft. Power off your device before
boar ding a n airc raft. Using wi rele ss devi ces in an aircraf t may cause danger to the
oper ation of the aircraft and disru pt the wirel ess telephone network . It ma y also be
con s id ered illegal.
Precautions for Using Wireless Devices
The device complies with the RF specifications when the device is used in portable
expo sure condi ti ons or at a distan ce of 0.0 c m from your bo dy.
Do not use the device where using wireless devices is prohibited or may cause
interference or dang er.
The radio waves generated by the device may interfere with the operation of
electronic medical devices. If you are using any electrical medical device, contact its
manufacturer for the restrictions on the use of the device.
Do no t take the de v ic e int o operati ng rooms, i nt ensiv e care unit s (I C U s), or
coronary care units (CCUs).
Areas with Inflammables and Explosives
Do no t use the device wher e in f lamm able s or explosives are st o red, for ex am ple, in
a gas statio n, oil depot, or chemical plant. Other w ise, explo sions or fire s m ay occur.

Do not store or transport the device in the same box as inflammable liquids, gases,
or explosi ves.

Accessory Requirements
Use only the accessories supplied or authorized by the device manufacturer.
Otherwise, the performance of the device may get affected, the warranty for the
device or the laws and regulations related to telecommunications terminals may
become null and void, or an injury may occur.
Do no t use the power adapter if its cab l e is damaged. Oth erwise, e le ctric sho cks or
fires m ay occur.
Ensure that the power adapter meets the specifications indicated on the device
nameplate.
Ensure that the power adapter meets the requirements of Clause 2.5 in
IEC60950-1/EN60950-1 and it is tested and approved accor d i n g to nation al or loca l
standards.
For pluggab le de v ic e, the socket-outlet shall be installed near the device and shall
be easily accessible.
Battery and Charger
Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not in use.
The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times bef o re i t event ua l ly
wears out. When the standby time and the talk time are shorter than the normal
time, replace the battery.
Use the AC power supply defined in the specifications of the charger. An improper
power voltage may cause a fire or a malfunction of the charger.
Do not connect tw o poles of the batte ry with conductors, such as metal m aterials,
keys, or jewelries. Otherwise, the battery may be short-circuited and may cause
injuries and burns on your body.
Do not disassemble the battery or solder the battery poles. Otherwise, it may lead
to electr o lyt e l ea kage, over heat ing, fire, or ex plos ion.

If battery el ectr olyt e leaks out, en sure that the ele ctrolyte do es not touc h your skin
and eyes . Wh en th e el ec t rolyt e touches your sk in or splash es int o your eyes, wash
your eyes with clean water immediatel y and consul t a doc tor.
If there is a case of battery deformation, color change, or abnormal heating while
you charge or st ore the batt ery, rem o ve the batt ery immediat e ly and stop usi ng it.
Otherw ise, it may lead to bat tery leakage, ov erheating, explosion, or fi re.
If the power cable is damaged (for example, the cord is exposed or broken), or the
plu g l oos ens, sto p using th e cab l e at once. Otherwi se, it may lea d to an electr i c
sho ck, a short ci rcu i t of the charger, or a fire.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode
if damaged.
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Recycle or dispose of used
batteri es accord ing to t h e l oca l regulat ions or ref erence i nstruction su pplied w ith
your device.
Prevention of Hearing Damage
Using a headset at high volume can damage your hearing. To reduce the risk of damage to
hea ring, low er the hea ds et volume t o a safe and comf orta b le le vel.
Safety of Children
Keep the device and its accessories out of the reach of children. Otherwise, they may
damage th e dev ic e an d it s ac c e ssori es by m istak e, or t he y ma y swa l low the sma l l
components of the device, causing suffocation or other dangerous situations.
Maintenance
If th e de vice is not used for a l on g time, power it off , and then remove all the cable s
con ne ct e d t o it .
If any exception occurs, for example, if the device emits any smoke or unusual
sound or smell, stop using the device immediately, power it off, remove all the
cables connected to it, and then contact an authorized service center.

If the device screen is broken by colliding with hard objects, do not touch or try to
remove the broken part. In this case, stop using the device immediately, and then
con tact an au th orized service c enter in tim e.
Do not trample, pull, or overbend any cable. Otherwise, the cable may get damaged,
causing m alfunction of the device .
Before cleaning the device, stop using it, power it off, and then remove all the
cables connected to it.
Use a clean, soft, and dry cloth to clean the device shell. Do not use any cleaning
age nt or sp ray to clea n t he de vice shel l.
Certification Information (SAR)
This device meets guidelines for exposure to radio waves.
Your dev i ce is a l ow -power radio transmitter and receiver. As recommended by
international guidelines, the device is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to
rad i o wa ve s. Th ese guideline s were developed by t h e i nde penden t sc ie ntific organizat ion
International C ommi ssion on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNI R P) and include
safety measures designed to ensure safety for all users, regardless of age and health.
The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit of measurement for the amount of radio
frequency ener gy absorbed by the body when using a device. The SAR value is
determined at the highest certified power level in laboratory conditions, but the actual SAR
level of the devi ce whe n bein g operated can be well below the val ue. Thi s is bec ause the
device is designed to use the minimum power required to r ea ch the network.
The SAR limit adopted by USA an d C anada is 1 .6 watts/kilogram (W/kg) av eraged over
one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value reported to the FCC and IC for this device type

The use of som e funct ions or th ir d-party applications on your device could result in your

measures are recommended to help you protect personal and confidential information.
