Quidway® AR 46 Router 100 M Ethernet Line Module
Overview
The 10/100 M Ethernet electrical interface module and 100 M Ethernet optical interface module of
the AR46 router provide Fast Ethernet (FE) electrical and optical interfaces respectively, mainly for
communicating with the router and LAN.
At present, the AR46 router has two ordinary 10/100 M Ethernet electrical interfaces: 1-port fast
interface module and 2-port fast interface module. It also has two optical interface modules: 1-port
fast single-mode optical interface module and 1-port fast multi-mode optical interface module.
Moreover, the AR46 router has two particular 10/100 M Ethernet electrical interface modules, which
are 8-port Ethernet layer-2 switching module and 16-port Ethernet layer-2 switching module. This
module is mainly used to implement the layer-2 switching function. Up to eight/sixteen 10/100
Base-Tx Ethernet ports can be provided on the router. It is applicable to the small-sized enterprise
network, serving as the switching/routing integrated equipment. It is connected with the PC and
network device in the enterprise directly, lowering the investment of enterprise. The features of
layer-2 Ethernet port are shown as follows:

Support broadcast storm suppression ratio.
Support MAC address aging time.
Support dividing VLAN (802.1Q) based on port (in 8-/16-port).
Not support STP/MSTP/RSTP. So, avoid loopback in the case of networking.
Not support port aggregation.
