Overview
At present, the AR28 router has two ordinary 10/100 M Ethernet electri cal interface modules: 1-port fast interface module and 2-port fast interface module (not supported by AR281* and AR2809/B modules). It also has two optical interface modules: 1-port fast single-mode optical interface module and 1-port fast multi-mode optical interface module.
Moreover, the AR28 router has a particular 8-port Ethernet layer-2 switching module. This module is mainly used to implement the layer-2 switching function. Up to eight 10/100 Base-Tx Ethernet ports can be provided on the router. It is applicable to the small-sized enterprise network, serving as the switching/routing integrated equipment. It is connected with the PC and network device in the enterprise directly, lowering the investment of enterprise. The features of layer-2 Ethernet port are shown in the following:
Support layer-2 forwarding. z

Support broadcast storm suppression ratio. Support MAC address aging time. Support dividing VLANs (802.1Q) based on port (in 8-/16-port). Not support STP/MSTP/RSTP. So, avoid loopback in the case of networking. Not support port aggregation.
