Quidway® NetEngine 80E Core Router GE Boards
Overview
The GE boards of the Quidway® NetEngine 80E core router (“NE80E” hereinafter) fall into two
types: GE optical interface boards and 10/100/1000M Ethernet electrical interface boards.
CR52-10xGE-SFP
CR52-24xGE-TX
The GE optical interface boards implement the Gigabit Ethernet MAC layer processing and
Physical Medium Dependent (PMD) functions in compliance with the IEEE specifications, and
provide such functions as loopback, environment monitoring and information query.
The 10/100/1000M electrical interface boards implement the Ethernet MAC layer processing and
PMD functions in compliance with the IEEE specifications, and provide such functions as loopback,
environment monitoring and information query.
The NE80E GE boards are mainly applied in Ethernet networking and their maximum rate is 1000
Mbps. The electrical interface boards support 10/100/1000 Mbps adaptation. If high-density 100M
or 1000M interfaces are needed and the transmission distance is no more than 100m in the
networking, the 10/100/1000M Ethernet electrical interface boards must be selected. If the

transmission distance is greater than 100m, then the GE optical interface boards must be selected
and various SFP optical modules can be selected dep ending on the transmission distance.
Specifications
Currently, the NE80E provides two types of GE optical interface boards: CR52-10xGE-SFP and
CR52-5xGE-SFP. And it provides one type of 10/100/1000M Ethernet electrical interface board:
CR52-24xGE-TX.
