Operating & Safety Guide 568
Take your time and don’t overdo it. You are more likely to have an accident if you are tired or rushing.
Never push the equipment beyond its design limits. If it will not do what you want with reasonable
ease and speed assume you have the wrong tool for the job. contact your local HSS Hire Shop.
Keep the equipment clean, you will find this less of a chore if you clean up regularly rather than wait until the end of the hire.
When not in use, store the equipment, somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves.
Switch the machine OFF, then unplug the unit from its power supply.
Empty the collection bag and give the unit a final clean, then neatly coil its power supply cable ready for return to your local HSS Hire Shop.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, use a suitable RCD (Residual Current-Operated Device)
available from your local HSS Hire Shop. Alternatively power the equipment from a mains circuit with a built in RCD.
Ensure the equipment and power socket are switched OFF before plugging into the power supply.

Flymo Model… To use the machine as a vacuum, turn the air flow dial fully clockwise.
If using the machine as a blower, turn the air flow dial fully anti-clockwise.
There is an intermediate dial position with vacuum, when selected a small amount of air is sent forward, to allow you to loosen wet leaves which may have
adhered to the ground.
Bosch Model… To use the machine as a vacuum, turn the air flow lever fully forward (position 1).
If using the machine as a blower, turn the air flow lever fully backward (position 4).
There are intermediate lever positions with vacuum,
when position 2 is selected a small amount of air is sent forward, to allow you to loosen wet leaves which may have adhered to the ground.
In position 3 the blowing force is at maximum.
All that remains is to plug the machine into its power supply and switch the supply ON.
GETTING STARTED
To start the machine, either squeeze the ON/OFF trigger or slide the ON/OFF switch forward.
If blowing, think carefully about the direction of the air flow. The fan is powerful enough to move quite
heavy objects and send them hurtling towards windows, people and other susceptible items. Keep bystanders
at least 3 metres away.
If vacuuming, check the collection bag and empty regularly. To do this, switch the machine OFF then
remove the bag as described in getting started. Tip the contents into a suitable container and refit before continuing.
