This user manual contains basic information for product usage as well as for emergency measures that may be required.
The installation and usage of printer driver, utility tool and HPRT BarTender Ultralite are also included in the manual.

Important Safety Instructions
Before using the appliance, please carefully read the following safety regulations in order to prevent any hazard or material damage.
1.Safety warning
Warnings: The print head will become very hot during printing; avoid contact with the
print head after printing has finished.
Warnings: Do not touch the printer head and connector in case static damage the printer
head.
2.Instructions
Warnings: Violating following instructions can cause serious injury or death.
1) Do not plug several products in one multiperture outlet.
• This can provoke over-heating and a fire.
• If the plug is wet or dirty, dry or wipe it before usage.
• If the plug does not fit perfectly with the outlet, do not plug in.
• Be sure to use only standardized multiperture outlet.
2) You must use the supplied adapter.
• It is dangerous to use other adapters.
3) Do not pull the cable to unplug.
• This can damage the cable, which is the origin of a fire or a breakdown of the printer.
4) Do not plug in or unplug with your wet hands .
• You can be electrocuted.
5) Do not bend the cable by force or leave it under any heavy object.
• A damaged cable can cause a fire.
5. WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electric Equipment)
This mark shown on the product or its literature indicates that the corresponding
item should not be discarded at the end of its working life with other household
waste. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from
uncontrolled waste disposal, please separate marked items from other types of
waste and recycle them responsibly to promote the sustained reuse of material
resources. Note: Violating following instructions may cause slight damage of the appliance.
1) If you observe a strange smoke, odour or noise from the printer, unplug it before taking following measures.
• Switch off the printer and unplug the set from the mains.
• After the disappearance of the smoke, call your dealer to repair it.
2) Install the printer on the stable surface.
• If the printer falls down, it can be broken and you can hurt yourself.
3) Use the approved accessories only and do not try to disassemble, repair or remodel it by yourself.
• Call your dealer when you need these services.
• Do not touch the blade of auto cutter.
4) Do not let water or other foreign objects drop into the printer.
• If this happened, switch off and unplug the printer before calling your dealer.
5) Do not use the printer when it is out of order. This can cause a fire or an electrocution.
• Switch off and unplug the printer before calling your dealer.
6) Other considerations:
• Place the printer on a solid and even base so that it cannot fall.
• Leave enough space around printer for operation and maintenance.
• Keep all liquids away from the printer.
• Do not expose the printer to high temperatures, direct sunlight or dust.
• Ensure the printer is connected to a socket with the correct mains voltage.
• Switch off the printer POWER supply when it’s not in use for a long time.
• To ensure the printing quality and reliability, suggest use the same quality or recommend paper supplier.
• Pls. switch off the POWER supply when connect/disconnect all the ports or it will cause damage to the printer control circuit.
• Never carry out maintenance or repair work yourself. Always contact a qualified service Technician.
• Keep this User Manual in a place which is easily accessible at all times.

Chapter 3 Installation & Usage
3.1 Media Loading
3.1.1 Fanfold Media
1.According to the width of paper, adjust the paper guides.
2.Insert the paper into the entry slot.
Note: The media should be put in position, so that printer could automatically feed the
paper.

3.1.2 External Paper Roll
If the paper roll is extremely large, users can load the paper roll outside(See the graph at right). Pass the paper through the external feed slot and then through the paper guides. Adjust the paper guides according to the paper width.

3.2 Paper Jam
1.Press the cover open button and hold upwards to open the printer cover.
2.Press the printing group switch .

3.3 Power Connection
1.Make sure the printer’s power switch is in the off position.
2.Connect the power cord to power receptacle.
3.Connect the other end of power cord to the outlet.
3.4 Interface Cable Connection
The standard for the printer’s interface cable is below:
- USB B-Type cable
- RS-232C cable
- RJ45 cable
Please follow the instructions to connect the cable.
1. Make sure the printer is off.
2. Please plug in the cables
Insert the RS232 cable into serial port. Insert the USB B-Type cable into the USB port Insert the RJ45 cable into the ethernet port.

3.5.1 Button Function

Enter the menu when standing by.

① When use continuous label media, printer will automatically feed a standard distance; ③ Hold down Feed Button when power on, release the button after hearing the a buzzer sound, printer configuration is printed out
Pause
Press this button when printer is working, the printing job stops and stands by(flash); repeat this button, the printing continues.

3.7 Self-Test
3.7.1 Print Self-Test
The self-test checks the printer’s current settings, status and whether the printer has any problem.
1.Make sure the power is connecting and paper is loading properly.
2.Make sure the printer is off and top cover close properly. .
3.Pressing the paper feed button and power button simultaneously turns the printer on. The printer is ready to receive data as soon as it completes the self-test.
3.7.2 Printing Of Windows Driver Program
1. Install the Windows Driver program. (Please refer to the Windows Driver Manual)
2. Please set the “interface” as the type you use.
3. Use the Windows Driver Program to print out the “Self-test page”.

3.10 Label Learning
Users must carry out the calibration under those conditions below:
The first time to use the printer since installation;
The first time to use the printer since sensor cleaning;
Reuse the printer that has not been used for a long time;
Change a new type of media;
Printer cannot recognize the mark;
Huge change of operating environment;
When printer is ready, hold down ‘Enter Button’ for about 2s and then release the button, printer starts to do the calibration and feeding 3 labels which means 2gaps; Users could also do the calibration via menu operation.
Note: After the calibration, users could open the printer cover to pull back the learned
paper in avoid of paper wasting.

CHAPTER 5 PRINTER CLEANING
Print quality might be degraded by dust, foreign substance, adhesive substance, or other pollution materials stuck in the printer head or inside the printer.
When dirty, clean the print head as follows:
Note:
Make sure to turn off the printer prior to cleaning.
As the print head gets hot during printing, intending to clean the print head, turn the
printer off and wait approximately 2~3 minute before commencement.
When cleaning the print head, take care not to touch the heated portion of the print head.
→ Print Head is susceptible to damage from static electricity, etc.
Take care not to allow the print head become scratched and/or damaged in any way.
5.1 Cleaning Head
1) Open the Printer Cover and then use the cleaning pen to clean the head in the direction from
the center of the head to two sides.
2) After cleaning the head, do not use the printer until the alcohol used for cleaning evaporates
completely (1~2 min) and the printer has completely dried.
5.2 Cleaning Sensors, Roller and/or Paper Path
1) Open the printer cover and then remove the paper.
2) Remove any dust or foreign substance using dry cloth or cotton swab.
3) Soak the cloth or cotton swab in alcohol for medical use and use it to remove adhesive
foreign substances or other pollution materials.
4) After cleaning the parts, do not use the printer until the alcohol evaporates completely (1~2
min) and the printer has completely dried
※ Clean the parts whenever print quality or paper detection degraded.

Chapter 6 Label Printer Utility Instructions
6.1 Installation Preparation
Download the application program in CD. eg: HPRTUtilityForLabel_Channel V2.0.0.4.
6.2 Usage
Note: The screen may vary slightly by different operating systems and models.
(1)Download “HPRTUtilityForLabel_Channel V2.0.0.4” in CD. Then open the “HPRTUtilityForLabel_Channel.exe”.

(2)Add/Modify/Delete Printer, Connect Test.
●Click “Add Printer”. Choose the printer and port(eg: USB), then click “OK”, showed in “Printer List”.

●Click “Modify Printer”. Choose the printer and port(eg: COM1), then click “OK”, showed in “Printer List”.

●Click “Delete Printer”. Click “OK” to delete the printer, and click “Cancel” to cancel the command.
●Click “Connect Test” to test whether the connection is successful or not. If connection succeeds, it shows as follows.
If connection fails, it shows as follows.
Note:
1.Connect printer to power first, then choose one port (depended on the printer you bought) to connect to the PC. Much more information of connecting method is contained in “3.3 Peripherals Connection”.
2.When connection fails, please check the connection and whether it matches or not.(When USB port is used, it is better to connect one printer only.)

●Click “Printer Information”, showing printer information.(varies by different printers)
●Click “Print Test Text”. Type the text and set up the printing range. Click “Print”, then printer starts to print the test text.
●Click “Print Self Information”, then printer starts to print self-test page.
●Click “Label Auto Learn”, then printer will carry out the calibration.

●Click “Parameter Setting”. User can set up the BT config, print type, paper mode and so on.
Click “Set”, and back to the main menu.
●Click “Model Print Test”, then printer starts to print models.
●Click “Restore Factory Settings”. Click “OK” to restore factory settings, and click “Cancel” to cancel the command.

7.3 Installation
Note:
Under different operating systems, the screen may be slightly different. Take Windows 7
as example.
To avoid the prevention, recommend to close the security software before installation.
1.Select one interface to connect your printer to computer.
2.Turn on the printer and check if it is connected to computer successfully.
3.Double click Seagull Windows Driver .
4.Read and agree the license agreement. Then click “Next”.

5.Choose the installation directory, then click “Next”.
6.Click"Finish".

7.Select "Install printer drivers", then click "Next".
Note: If you have connected the printer to computer, it will detect and install the driver
automatically.(eg.: USB port)
8.Select "Install a driver for a Plug and Play printer”, then click "Next".

9.Enter a name for this printer, then click "Next".
10.Click"Finish".

11.Click "Close", and the printer driver is installed successfully.
12.After installation, the icon will be found in ”Start”→“Devices and Printers”.
Note:
1.If you have already installed the driver (No matter what kind of ports), it will generate a USB port automatically when connecting the printer to computer.
2.Any problems exist, please use our utility tool in CD.

1.Click “Start”→“Devices and Printers”. Right click the icon and choose “Printing preferences”.

8.1 Introduction
This chapter provides instructions on BarTender Ultralite program according to PC operating systems(OS). The followings are supported.

8.4.1 Page Settings
1.Double click the icon, then choose the edition. Click “OK”. (The edition may be changed according to different needs.)
2.Click “Start a new BarTender document”.

3.Choose “Blank Template”, then click “Next”.
4.If the predefined stocks don’t meet your need, tick “Specify Custom Settings”. Then click”Next”.

5.Tick “Single item per page”, then click “Next”. (If you print multiple labels, tick “Multiple columns and/or rows of items per page ”.)
6.Edit the side edges, then click “Next”.
