Upgrading SAN Manager LM 1.1 QLA2200 Hosts to
Storage Allocater 1.2
Storage Allocater was formerly known as HP SureStore SAN Manager LUN Management (LM)
Procedure
In order to use QLogic’s QLA2200 host bus adapter (HBA) with SAN Manager LM 1.1, users had to disable
the Drivers Load RISC Code option in the QLogic card’s configuration settings according to the following
instructions:
Note
1. Reboot the host.
2. During system startup, watch for QLogic configuration tool messages.
3. Press ALT + Q to break into the QLogic HBA configuration tool.
4. In the HBA configuration tool, select Configuration Settings .
5. Select Advanced Adapter Settings .
6. Set the Drivers Load RISC Code option to Disabled .
7. Save the new settings and reboot the host.
Storage Allocater 1.2 now supports the QLA2200 HBA without this configuration workaround.
Caution Users that customized their QLogic QLA2200 HBA configurations must undo these
If you do not undo the modifications to your HBA configuration, the following problems will occur:
The QLA2200 HBA host will not be able to access storage that was assigned to it before
•
the Storage Allocater 1.2 upgrade.
The QLogic QLA2200 card is not officially qualified to run with SAN Manager LM
version 1.1.
changes before upgrading to Storage Allocater 1.2.
If the QLA2200 host is already in the database, it will be listed as a missing host when another host runs
•
the administration application. Storage Allocater will not allow you to assign storage to a missing host.
If the QLA2200 host was new to the SAN (not yet in the database), Storage Allocater will not be able to
•
discover it.
