Upgrade Path to the ProLiant ML530 933-MHz Server
The Pentium III 933-MHz Processor Option Kit is supported on the 800- and 866MHz servers, allowing customers an easy upgrade path.
Note
When upgrading to a 933-MHz system, you do not have to change the System
I/O Board; however, you must run ROMPaq to upgrade the ROM.
Upgrade Options
Table 2 lists the upgrade option kits and spares kits for the 933-MHz processor.
Refer to TechInfo for a complete list of options and part numbers.
Table 2: Options and Spare Part Numbers for the 933-MHz Processor
Upgrades
Description Part Number Option or Spare
Xeon 933-MHz/133-MHz FSB Pentium III 256K
Processor Option Kit (Processor and VRM) 174882-B21 Option
Xeon 933-MHz/133-MHz FSB Pentium III 256K
Processor Spares Kit
187529-001 Spare
Software Supported
The 933-MHz server supports the same operating systems as the 800-MHz servers.
Service Considerations
The Pentium III Zion 1 processor cannot be down-clocked; therefore, all
processors must use the same frequency. Compaq does not support mixing
processor frequencies.
During POST, each processor and its initialization frequency is displayed. If POST
detects processors of unlike frequency, ROM halts the system.
