The Standing Harness is a versatile sling with a wide range of uses. This includes as-
sisting with standing and walking or visiting the toilet. The Standing Harness supports
the patient around the upper body as well as under the arms. The Standing Harness is
not a general-purpose sling and requires the patient to be able to partially weight bear.
Hoyer slings and lifters are not designed to be interchangeable with other manufacturer’s products. Using other manufacturer’s
products on Hoyer products is potentially unsafe and could result in serious injury to patient and/or caregiver.
For the safety of the patient and carer; before using a sling a full risk assessment must be conducted to ensure that the
correct sling choice, method of positioning in the sling and procedure for transfer has been determined for the patient.
Check sling and stitching before each use. Using bleached, torn, cut, frayed or broken slings is unsafe and could result

HOW TO FIT THE STANDING HARNESS
Method of attachment from a chair:
NOTE: Prior to tting, a thorough risk assessment should be conducted.
Feed the Standing Harness down the back
of the patient and position around the chest.
Raise and position the Standing Harness up
towards the chest. The Standing Harness is
equipped with two adjustable safety clasps.
Attach both safety clasps as shown and
tighten for comfort as appropriate (the t
should be snug not tight).
Attach the leg supports to the Standing Harness by offering
the safety clasp to the retaining ring at the bottom of the
Standing Harness as shown. The leg supports can be adjusted
in length for comfort as appropriate.
To attach the Standing Harness to the spreader bar, rstly
place the patient’s arms through the loop straps as shown,
and attach to the spreader bar by using the coloured loop
straps. Ensure the same colour loop is used on both straps
and hook onto the side hooks. Check both loops are securely attached prior to use.

Method of attachment for more able-bodied patients:
NOTE: Prior to tting, a thorough risk assessment should be conducted.
Position the patient’s legs into the leg supports.
You can adjust the length of the leg supports for
comfort as appropriate.
To attach the Standing Harness to the spreader bar,
rstly place the patient’s arms through the loop straps
as shown, and attach to the spreader bar by using the
coloured loop straps. Ensure the same colour loop is
used on both straps and hook onto the side hooks.
Check both loops are securely attached prior to use.
Raise and position the Standing Harness up towards
the chest. The Standing Harness is equipped
with two adjustable safety clasps. Attach both
safety clasps as shown and tighten for comfort
as appropriate (the t should be snug, not tight).
ATTENTION:
• Check that the safety clasps and the
connection loops are all securely attached
prior to using the Standing Harness.
• The Standing Harness is not a general-
purpose sling and will not be suitable for
some clients.
• The Standing Harness is only suitable for
the Oxford/Hoyer 6 point spreader bar.

Bleach will damage material. Slings can suffer damage during washing and drying. Check sling before each use.

Destroy and discard worn slings. Do not alter slings. Machine wash warm. Cool tumble dry, air dry or dry at
very low temperature.
