INSTALLATION GUIDE
HANGING A WALL CLOCK
To ensure safety, it is important that your Howard Miller clock be securely hung on the wall. If the clock is
equipped with a hanging bracket, be certain to hang the clock from the bracket. It is the consumer’s
responsibility to ensure that the clock is safely hung from the wall. Since the style, weight and design
of each clock varies along with the installation location, the details contained herein should only be used as
a guide to proper installation. There are two basic methods of installation that assume a standard studded
wall construction.
Method 1: Install a #8 screw into a wall stud. The length of the screw will depend upon the wall thickness.
The screw length should be such that at least one inch of the screw will penetrate the wall stud. When
determining screw length, consider the thickness of the wall (example: drywall, plaster, paneling, etc), the
length of screw that will extend out of the wall, and then add at least one inch. Reference figure 1.
Method 2: Install a hollow wall anchor into the wall at the desired location. Follow the wall anchor
manufacturer’s instructions for assembly. Reference figure 2.
Some larger wall clocks are designed to be secured to the wall at more than one point.
