The Hovland RADIA is the realization of a two-decade evolutionary quest toward
perfecting audio fidelity with solid state power amplification. Our company s goal is to
communicate the heart and expression of the recording artist, while drawing the
audience into a dimensional and revealing musical event.
The RADIA was conceived with an understanding that every design and
construction detail influences not just the sound, but the listener s emotional connection to
the music. Our engineering team has spent over 25 years researching and comparing
circuit topologies while continuously evaluating the audible differences among every
passive and active part. Each Hovland design contains original circuits, numerous
proprietary par ts, and custom wire. All of these elements w orking together ha ve been
critically selected and refined.
The purpose of the RADIA amplifier is to care for the musical message. When
used with other products of commensurate transparency, it delivers an enduring and
mesmerizing performance.
FEATURES
Full dual monophonic construction. Only shared element of both channels of amplification is AC power input.
State of the art power supply design utilizing custom designed and hand-crafted, oversized power transformers along with
ultra high speed capacitors and Schottky rectifiers.
High output circuit reliability through use of bridged output configuration for each channel.
Full complementary symmetry driver / output transistor configuration for low distortion operation.
Matched J-FET input circuitry provides high input impedance and outstanding DC offset stability, eliminating need for DC
offset adjustment controls.
Active bias control circuitry maintains constant output idling bias current regardless of temperature. Output transistor stage
directly cooled by high efficiency ducted convection system.
Use of TO-3 metal enclosure output transistors offers immunity to unwanted internal moisture contamination and mechani-
cal mounting stress failure.
Protection circuitry removes power from amplifier in the event of failure caused by external or internal short circuit condition.
Premium grade, high reliability speaker relays with redundant contacts utilized in each channel.
Hovland Generation 3 shielded silver-plated interconnect used for critical signal path wiring.
Hovland Companys acclaimed MusiCap¤ film-and-f oil capacitors used in key circuit locations.
Rigid, damped monococque-type main chassis construction for reduction of mechanically enduced vibration modes.
Low voltage turn-on / off available from remote source such as a preamplifier (connection via rear input jack).
Available with either standard unbalanced inputs or balanced XLR inputs.
