For over 20 years, Hovland Company has pursued the ideal of recovering
all the artistry and emotion embedded in great recorded musical
performances. Our goal is audio reproduction with a live and tactile quality

The creation of Hovland components is an organic process involving
thousands of subtle comparisons and judgements. Circuits and models are
fabricated and continually refined. Each element and its interaction with the whole
is carefully considered always referenced to the musical ideal.

The HP-100 preamplifier embodies our philosophy of fidelity to the art, ably
enhancing any high quality music system. It is an enduring composition and the
overture to a symphony of fine components. Maestro!

FEATURES

Full-featured vacuum tube stereo preamplifier, available as a line stage or with an

integral phono stage for either high or low output phono cartridges. Either phono
section can be added to a line stage model at any time.

Fully hand assembled to insure the highest level of craftsmanship.
Ultra selected, best quality passive components used in critical applications, including

Hovland Companys acclaimed MusiCap¤ film-and-foil capacitors.

Volume is controlled by a custom-made 31-position silver contact stereo level

attenuator switch, with 2 dB steps.

Critical signal wiring is Hovland Generation 3 shielded silver plated interconnect and

Music Groove 2 phono wire.

Rigid, all alloy monococque chassis isolates the three main circuit boards, preventing

interaction between phono, line, and power supply circuits. Polished and anodized
exterior plates; polished, nickel plated face panel.

Power supply incorporates proprietary transformers and filter capacitors.
Noise-free, timed muting circuit protects other system components when the

preamplifier is turned on or off.

Hard gold-plated RCA jacks with collet-type female pin sockets.

Other features include: eight selectable inputs plus separate Tape Monitor

(9 inputs total); stepped balance switch with 1 dB steps (out of circuit in neutral
position); Stereo/Mono and Mute switches.
