Preface

How To Update The Firmware

This Ampero V3 .x series firmw are updates are A mpero’s major upd ates
containing m ore powerful fe atures (e.g. ), MANAGABLE SI GNAL CHAIN
optimized sy stem performa nce and bug fixes ( see “Release No te” for
details). We recom mend all Ampero u sers to update to t he latest
firmware for t he best possibl e user experien ce.

Important: U se V3.x firmwar e with Ampero Edi tor V1.2.1 or lat er ONLY.

The patches of t he earlier firm ware versions a re now not compat ible
with this V3.x f irmware due to th e new features an d fatal changes , after
updating to 3. x firmware, ALL PATCHES OF EARLIER FIRMWA RE
VERSIONS WIL L BE REPLACED BY TH E NEW FA CTORY/USER PATCHES,
AND YOUR CUSTO M IR FILES WILL ALS O BE CLEARED.

Please be sure t o export the patc hes you want to kee p by using earlie r
Ampero Edito r software befo re updating. Af ter updating, you can import
them via new Amp ero Editor (The E ditor will auto matically con vert your
old patch file s to new version so t hat you can use the m with V3.x
firmware). I f you accidenta lly updated to th e new firmware be fore
backing up you r patches, to get t he old patches ba ck, you can roll ba ck
to earlier fir mware version s (load earlier f irmware files w hen updating)
before you edi t/save patche s with new firmwa re.

Note: Ampero E ditor V1.2.6 is o nly compatibl e with firmware V 3.4 or
later.

Preparation before update

1.Use earlier A mpero Editor so ftware to expor t the patches you n eed.
The patches yo u export (singl e/all) will be sa ved as a .prst file .
Please note: S ince Firmware V 2.1 and earlier f irmware versi ons share
the same prese t file, for best po ssible patch co mpatibility, P LEASE USE
AMPERO EDITO R V1.1.1 WITH FIR MWARE V2.1 TO EXPORT THE
PATCHES YOU N EED. If you’re using more earlier firmwar e and software
(e.g. B6.4 fir mware and Amper o Editor V1.0.2 ), PLEASE UPDATE TO
AMPERO EDITO R V1.1.1 AND FIRM WARE V2.1 FIRST before backing up
your presets .

Export/Backup Earlier Patches

1.Download an d unzip new firmw are and softwar e file from Hoton e
(www.hotoneaudio.com):
Go to our offici al website find A mpero's produ ct page or click
"SUPPORT" - “F irmware” or "So ftware”) - ”Mut ti Effects” - "Am pero"
option in the “F irmware” or “So ftware” secti on to download th e latest
firmware and t he latest softw are.

3. Unzip the dow nloaded firmw are package (th e firmware file s hould be
a .bin file).

4. Run Ampero Ed itor Setup to ins tall the new soft ware.

5.Press and hol d the “3” and “CTRL ” footswitch al ong with the
MENU/VALUE kn ob (Main Knob) and then power Ampero on to
enable Amper o’s firmware upda te mode. During t he entire firmw are
update proce ss, you can just ig nore the messag es displayed on y our
Ampero:

6.Connect you r Ampero to the com puter with a USB ca ble. A “Device
Connected” m essage will be ap pear on the compu ter screen:

2. Power on your A mpero and conne ct to your comput er, then launch
Ampero Edito r software.
(1) To export one use r patch, select a p atch you need in th e patch list on
the left of the sc reen, then clic k the "Export" an d click "Export O ne
Patch" in the po pped-up menu.
(2) Then the fol lowing messag e will appear, click "OK".
(3) Select a fil e location and na me the patch file .
(4) To export all use r patches, clic k "Export" - "Exp ort All Patches ", and
the other step s are the same as exp orting one patc h.

Reminder:

The user IR file y ou loaded will no t be contained in t he exported patch
file.
If you are using a u ser IR file in your p atch, reload it m anually after
importing th e patch.

7. Click “Upda te” button. Bro wse and choose yo ur firmware fil e. The
firmware upd ate progress wi ll begin automa tically after c hoosing the
firmware fil e. A progress bar w ill appear on the c omputer scree n to
indicate upd ating progres s.

8. When the firm ware upgrade pr ogress reache s 100%, the progr ess bar
will disappe ar, then a “No De vice connected” message will appear on
the computer s creen. This ind icate update pr ogress comple ted. After
that, just res tart your Amper o and enjoy the cha nges brought by t he new
firmware.

How To Import Patches

1. Power on your A mpero and conne ct to your comput er, then launch Ampero E ditor softwar e.
(1) To import one use r patch, select a p atch location y ou need in the patch list on the left of the screen, and click the “Im port”.
(2) Then the fol lowing messag e will appear, click "OK":
(3) Select the p atch file you wan t to import, wait a m oment, and done.
(4) If you need to i mport all patch es, you don't nee d to select a locat ion in the patch list, just click "Import" an d select the patc h file you need, ot her steps are the s ame
as described a bove. Importi ng all patches ma y take a while, in th is progress, the Ampero Editor may not resp ond; please be pa tient.

Reminder:

1. Due to the new fe atures, chang es and optimize d effect performances of the new firmware, when Ampero Edi tor convertin g earlier patch f iles, your cont rol settings
and patch tone m ay be different t han before. We recomm end you to take a not e of your settings in your patch and revise the settings after i mporting.

2. The user IR fil e you loaded will n ot be contained i n the patch file. I f you’re using a third-party IR file in your pa tch, the tone may b e different aft er importing. I n this
case, the foll owing informa tion will appea r after selecti ng the patch file:

If you want to kee p the user IR file, y ou can import the I R file you used before manually by clicking "Keep". You can also clic k "Ignore" to ign ore user IR related settings.
In this case, th e CAB module will d efault to the fir st factory IR fil e.
