Remove Rear Seats
Remove the lower rear seat cushion. If the cushion won’t pull up easily, use a long
screwdriver to push and release the small bar that is clipped in the bracket. Remove
the two bolts that hold the back part of the seat to the body and lift the upper cushion to
remove it from the vehicle.

Remove Old Brackets
Raise the rear end of the vehicle and place jack stands underneath the axles. Make
sure to chock the front tires to prevent the car from rolling. Undo the dog bones from
the triangular clevis Mount. Unfasten the 4 nuts that hold the old bracket. You may
discard the “c” shaped bracket, the triangular clevis bracket, and the dog bone end
links.

Repair Cracked Floor Pan if Necessary
Your floor pan may or may not be cracked. Check to see if the floor pan is exhibiting
any cracking particularly on the upper section of the floor pan. If it is, it will need to be
repaired before proceeding further. Please have an experienced welder patch up any
cracking you have. Grind down any high spots in the weld and spray paint the area to
avoid rusting.

Undo Frame Rail Lines
Instead of mounting the dog bone end links to the floor pan, we are going to be
mounting them to the frame rails. However, we first need to access the side of the
frame rails. We will need to undo the lines that are mounted to the rails.
The driver side has a brake line and vent line that is mounted to the frame rail. Undo
the line tabs as shown in the picture below.
The passenger side has the fuel line mounted to the frame rail. Undo the line tabs as
shown in the picture below.

Install Frame Rail Reinforcements
We will be installing reinforcement plates onto the frame rails. This will require drilling
two ¾” holes for each rail.
Start on the passenger side frame rail. The hole that was used to hole the line tab is in
the same position as one of your holes. (see picture) Use one of the reinforcement
plates as a template to mark out the other hole.
Drill out the ¾” hole only on the inner side of the frame rail. Do not drill through both
walls of the frame rail. We found that a unibit works best.
