Introduction
Congratulations! Your selection of a Honda Remote Engine Starter System was a wise investment. This system is the result of extensive research and development, and will provide you with many years of reliable performance, protection, and convenience.
The remote engine starter system consists of a transmitter that allows you to start and stop the engine from outside the vehicle.
Some communities may have restrictions on the use of remote engine starters. Before using your remote engine starter system, please check all local laws and regulations.
To take full advantage of your Honda Remote Engine Starter System, please read this manual thoroughly.
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This device complies with RSS-210 of Industry and Science Canada. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
Due to the expertise required to properly install the Honda Remote Engine Starter System, we highly recommend that the installation be performed by a certified technician of your Honda dealer. Proper wiring and component placement are essential for optimum system performance.

Safety Guidelines
NOTICE
• Carbon monoxide gas is toxic and can rapidly accumulate in closed or even partly enclosed areas. Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and even kill you. Never use the remote engine starter with the vehicle parked in a garage or other areas with limited ventilation.
6410020B
• Do not start the engine with the remote engine starter before removing a body cover. The engine and exhaust heat can cause a fire.
• Do not start the engine with this remote engine starter near flammable material such as dead grass, paper, oil, grease, wood, etc. The heat from the exhaust pipe can ignite the flammable material.

Battery Power
Use the transmitter only when necessary. Every time a button is pressed, the remote engine starter is consuming battery power. If the battery is low on power, the transmitting range of the remote engine starter will be affected. Check the battery periodically, and replace it when necessary. For battery replacement refer to page 26.
6
In Case of Loss
If one of your transmitters is ever lost, contact your local Honda dealer for a replacement. Your system will be reprogrammed to prevent the lost transmitter from operating your system. If your system needs reprogramming due to a lost transmitter, you must bring in any additional remotes for reprogramming at this time.

Handling Transmitter
The transmitter is a sophisticated electronic device. To maintain optimum system performance, avoid mishandling the remote engine starter (e.g., dropping, throwing).
Temperature
Avoid exposing the transmitter to extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
7336020T
6410070B
Liquids
Never submerge the transmitter in water. Though this transmitter is water resistant, do not operate or store it in a place where it can be splashed with water. It can cause the transmitter to malfunction.
Outside Cleaning
Use a soft cloth to clean the transmitter. Do not use kerosene, thinner, or any other type of solvent.
Children
Store the transmitter out of reach of children.

The remote engine starter will only operate provided all the following conditions are met:
The gearshift lever is in the “P” (Park) position.
The brake pedal is not depressed.
The engine hood is securely closed.
All the doors are closed and locked.
The tailgate or trunk lid is closed.
The security warning system is not activated.
The panic warning system is not activated.
The keyless entry-integrated key or ignition key is removed from the ignition switch.
The battery power is not low.
NOTE
After starting the engine in the 10-minute mode, restarting of the engine is inhibited for 10 minutes after stopping the engine. After extending the idling time in the 20-minute mode, restarting of the engine is inhibited for 20 minutes after stopping the engine.
When the front door (either the driver-side door or the passenger-side door) is opened or the ignition switch is turned on with the key, the inhibition will be canceled, allowing restarting of the engine.
The engine stops under the following conditions after starting the engine with the transmitter:
If any of the conditions described before is not met.
10 or 20 minutes has passed after starting the engine.
The engine vehicle malfunction indicator lamp is ON.
The engine speed rises to 4,000 rpm or more.
The vehicle low oil pressure indicator is ON.
NOTE
The immobilizer system operates automatically after the engine stops.
The security system does not sound when starting the engine with the remote engine starter system. (Only vehicles equipped with the standard security system or the Honda accessory security system)

start was not successful.
Verify all the conditions listed below are met and try to start the engine again.
The gearshift lever is in the “P” (Park) position.
The brake pedal is not depressed.
The engine hood is securely closed.
All the doors are closed and locked.
The tailgate or trunk lid is closed.
The security warning system is not activated.
The panic warning system is not activated.
The keyless entry-integrated key or ignition key is
removed from the ignition switch.
The battery power is not low.
When the RF signal from the transmitter does not carry to the receiver, the transmitter emits three short buzzer sounds but no indicator is shown on the display.
In some cases the remote transmission range can be longer than the reception range. Therefore the engine can be started/stopped, and the remote status may not be displayed.

Page 15
Starting the Engine
NOTE The normal operating range
of the transmitter is approx. 200 ft (61 m). However, this distance can be affected by the following conditions.
200 ft (61 m)
6410120B
Depending on where you park, you may experience reduced range reception. Interference
can be caused by any of these
conditions:
1. Proximity to buildings and automobiles.
• Large trucks parked nearby
6410130B
• Concrete walls
• Underground parking lot • Steel walls
2. Proximity to high power transmitters (television, radio, cellular, HAM radio, etc.).
3. When your transmitter is carried together with such communication devices as a cellular phone, a walkietalkie, or a notebook computer.
4. When the transmitter is in contact with or covered by a metallic object.
5. When the vehicle contains aftermarket window tint.
6. When another remote engine starter is used nearby.
7. When the battery becomes weak, the remote control range becomes short.
8. In some cases the remote transmission range can be longer than the reception range. Therefore the engine can be started/stopped, and the remote status may not be displayed.
Vehicle construction and the surrounding environment cause reflected waves that may interfere with the low power RF signal transmitted by the remote control. This interference may result in “dead spots” around the vehicle; places where remote
control signals will not be accepted by the main unit.
Note that the remote start
cannot improve the vehicles original starting ability. The engine may not start if the ambient temperature is too cold, the vehicle battery is drained, or there are other
6410140B
problems with the vehicles starting system.

Page 16
Stopping the Engine
1. Push the command button on the transmitter for 1 second or less, then push the stop button within 2 seconds.

Battery service life
The batteries are good for approximately 1 year after replacement. Battery service life will vary depending on usage.
Note that the batteries already installed in the transmitter when you purchased the remote engine starter system can come to the end of the service life before 1 year. This is due to the batteries being installed in the transmitter at the factory and does not indicate a problem with your remote.
Battery precautions
To prevent poor contact of the batteries, wipe them with a clean dry cloth before installation.
Note the positive (+) and negative (-) polarities of the batteries and install the batteries in the proper direction. Failure to correctly install the batteries can cause leaking battery fluid, battery failure and/or fire accident.
Do not hold a battery with a metallic tool such as tweezers. This can cause the battery to short circuit.
An improperly disposed battery can hur t the environment. Always confirm local regulations for battery disposal.
