1 Hinweise zur Anleitung

Lesen Sie diese Anleitung sorgfältig, bevor Sie Ihr Home­matic IP Gerät in Betrieb nehmen. Bewahren Sie die An­leitung zum späteren Nachschlagen auf!
Wenn Sie das Gerät anderen Personen zur Nutzung über­lassen, übergeben Sie auch diese Anleitung.

Önen Sie das Gerät nicht. Es enthält keine durch
den Anwender zu wartenden Teile. Das Önen
birgt die Gefahr eines Stromschlages. Lassen Sie
das Gerät im Fehlerfall von einer Fachkraft prüfen.

Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist
das eigenmächtige Umbauen und/oder Verän­dern des Gerätes nicht gestattet.

-tüten, Styroporteile etc. können für Kinder zu
einem gefährlichen Spielzeug werden.

Das Gerät darf nur für ortsfeste Installationen ver­wendet werden. Das Gerät ist sicher innerhalb
einer festen Installation zu fixieren.

Gefahrenhinweise

Der Aktor ist Teil der Gebäudeinstallation. Bei der
Planung und Errichtung sind die einschlägigen
Normen und Richtlinien des Landes zu beachten.
Der Betrieb des Gerätes ist ausschließlich am 230
V/50 Hz-Wechsel-spannungsnetz zulässig. Ar­beiten am 230-V-Netz dürfen nur von einer Elek­trofachkraft (nach VDE 0100) erfolgen. Dabei sind
die geltenden Unfallverhütungsvorschriften zu
beachten. Zur Vermeidung eines elektrischen
Schlages am Gerät, schalten Sie bitte die Netz­spannung frei (Sicherungsautomat abschalten).
Bei Nichtbeachtung der Installationshinweise
können Brand oder andere Gefahren entstehen.

Beachten Sie beim Anschluss an die Geräteklem­men die hierfür zulässigen Leitungen und Lei­tungsquerschnitte.

Die an den Relaisausgängen angeschlossenen
Verbraucher müssen über eine ausreichende Iso­lierung verfügen.

Beachten Sie vor Anschluss der Verbraucher
technischen Daten, insbesondere die maximal zu­lässige Schaltleistung der Relais und Art der anzu­schließenden Verbraucher. Sie den

Eine Überlastung kann zur Zerstörung des Gerä­tes, zu einem Brand oder zu einem elektrischen
Schlag führen.

Der Stromkreis, an dem das Gerät und die Last
angeschlossen werden, muss mit einem Lei­tungsschutzschalter gemäß EN60898-1 (Auslö­secharakteristik B oder C, max. 10 A Nennstrom,
min. 6 kA Abschaltvermögen, Energiebegren­zungsklasse 3) abgesichert sein. Installationsvor­schriften lt. VDE 0100 bzw. HD384 oder IEC
60364 müssen beachtet werden. Der Leitungs­schutzschalter muss für den Benutzer leicht er­reichbar und als Trennvorrichtung für das Gerät
gekennzeichnet sein.

Vor dem Anschließen des Aktors muss die Si
rung im Sicherungskasten herausgenommen

den.

Das Gerät darf, ausgenommen zur Konfiguration,
nur mit der dazugehörigen Schalterabdeckung
betrieben werden.

Das Gerät ist nicht zum Freischalten geeignet.

Geräte mit elektronischen Netzteilen (z. B. Fern­seher oder Hochvolt-LED-Leuchtmittel) können

Einschaltströme von über 100 A erzeugen. Schal­ten solcher Verbraucher führt zu vorzeitigem
Verschleiß des Aktors. Wir empfehlen in solchen
Fällen die Verwendung von Einschaltstrombe­grenzern an den Schaltausgängen.

Das Gerät ist nur für den Einsatz in wohnungs­ähnlichen Umgebungen geeignet.

Jeder andere Einsatz, als der in dieser Bedie­nungsanleitung beschriebene, ist nicht bestim­mungsgemäß und führt zu Gewährleistungs- und
Haftungsausschluss.

3 Funktion und Geräteübersicht

Der Homematic IP Schaltaktor für Markenschalter eignet
sich für die Montage in einer Unterputzdose für Schalter
verschiedenster Hersteller. Einmal installiert, schaltet er
bis zu zwei angeschlossene Verbraucher (z. B. Leuchten)
über zwei unabhängige Kanäle ein bzw. aus.

Der Schaltaktor ermöglicht eine komfortable Steuerung der
angeschlossenen Verbraucher über die Tasterwippen des
Schalters. Dabei steuert die obere Wippe des Tasters Kanal
1 und die untere Wippe Kanal 2 (jeweils im Toggle-Betrieb).
Alternativ ist eine komfortable Bedienung per Funk-Fern
bedienung oder über die Homematic IP App möglich.

Die Adapter für verschiedene Schalterserien ermöglichen
einen kostensparenden Austausch von Schaltern gängi­ger Hersteller gegen eine intelligente Homematic IP In­stallation. Das Design bzw. Farben und Oberflächen von
bereits installierten Schalterserien bleiben unverändert,
da vorhandene Rahmen und Wippen weiter genutzt wer­den können.

Dieses Gerät ist Teil des Homematic IP Smart-Home­Systems und kommuniziert über das Homematic IP
Funkprotokoll. Alle Geräte des Systems können komfor­tabel und individuell per Smartphone über die Home­matic IP App konfiguriert werden. Alternativ haben Sie
die Möglichkeit, Homematic IP Geräte über die Zen­trale CCU3 oder in Verbindung mit vielen Partnerlö­sungen zu betreiben. Welcher Funktionsumfang sich
innerhalb des Systems im Zusammenspiel mit weite­ren Komponenten ergibt, entnehmen Sie bitte dem
Homematic IP Anwenderhandbuch. Alle technischen
Dokumente und Updates finden Sie stets aktuell unter
www.homematic-ip.com.

5 Adapter für Markenschalter

Um eine Kompatibilität mit möglichst vielen Herstellern
zu erreichen und eine Integration in die verschiedenen
Designs zu erleichtern, sind verschiedene Wippadapter
als Zubehör erhältlich.

6 Inbetriebnahme

6.1 Installationshinweise

Bitte lesen Sie diesen Abschnitt erst vollständig,
bevor Sie mit der Installation beginnen.

Bitte notieren Sie sich vor der Installation die auf
dem Gerät angebrachte Gerätenummer (SGTIN)
und den Installationsort, damit Sie das Gerät im
Nachhinein leichter zuordnen können. Alternativ
steht die Gerätenummer auch auf dem beiliegen­den QR-Code-Aufkleber.

Hinweis! Installation nur durch Personen mit
einschlägigen elektrotechnischen Kenntnissen
und Erfahrungen!*

Durch eine unsachgemäße Installation gefährden Sie

• Ihr eigenes Leben;

• das Leben der Nutzer der elektrischen Anlage.

Mit einer unsachgemäßen Installation riskieren Sie
schwere Sachschäden, z. B. durch Brand. Es droht für Sie
die persönliche Haftung bei Personen- und Sachschäden.

*Erforderliche Fachkenntnisse für die Installation:

Für die Installation sind insbesondere folgende Fachkenntnisse er­forderlich:

• Die anzuwendenden „5 Sicherheitsregeln“:
Freischalten; gegen Wiedereinschalten sichern;
Spannungsfreiheit feststellen; Erden und Kurzschließen;
benachbarte, unter Spannung stehende Teile abdecken
oder abschranken;

• Auswahl des geeigneten Werkzeuges, der Messgeräte
und ggf. der persönlichen Schutzausrüstung;

• Auswertung der Messergebnisse;

• Auswahl des Elektro-Installationsmaterials zur Sicherstel­lung der Abschaltbedingungen;

• IP-Schutzarten;

• Einbau des Elektroinstallationsmaterials;

• Art des Versorgungsnetzes (TN-System, IT-System,
TT-System) und die daraus folgenden Anschlussbedin­gungen (klassische Nullung, Schutzerdung, erforderliche
Zusatzmaßnahmen etc.).

Die Installation darf nur in handelsüblichen Schal­terdosen (Gerätedosen) gemäß DIN 49073-1 er­folgen.

Das Gerät darf nur mit Adapter und einer zugehö­rigen, montierten Schalterabdeckung betrieben
werden. Die Schalterabdeckung darf nur wäh­rend der Konfiguration entfernt werden.

An die Anschlussklemmen der Relaisausgänge
dürfen keine SELV-/PELV-Stromkreise ange­schlossen werden.

6.3 Installation

Für die Installation des Schaltaktors gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

• Schalten Sie den Leitungsschutzschalter des
Stromkreises ab. (s. Abbildung 2).

• Ziehen Sie die Wippe vom Rahmen des bestehen­den Schalters ab.

• Ziehen Sie anschließend den Rahmen samt
Klemm-/Haltestück vom Schalter ab. Das
Klemm-/Haltestück kann in Abhängigkeit vom
Hersteller transparent, grau oder schwarz sein
und hält den Rahmen auf dem Schalter.

Um die Demontage zu erleichtern, kann z. B. ein
Schlitzschraubendreher zur Hilfe genommen
werden.

• Lösen Sie die Befestigung des bestehenden
Schalters an der Unterputzdose und ziehen Sie
den Schalter vorsichtig heraus.

• Lösen Sie die Verdrahtung und entfernen Sie den
vorhandenen Schalter.

• Schließen Sie den Homematic IP Schaltaktor ge­mäß Abbildung3 an.

• Setzen Sie den Schaltaktor in die Unterputzdose
ein und befestigen Sie das Gerät mittels der mit­gelieferten Schrauben an der Unterputzdose (s.
Abbildung 4+5).

• Setzen Sie den Rahmen Ihrer Schalterserie auf

den Schaltaktor auf (s. Abbildung 6).

• Setzen Sie einen passenden Adapter in den Rah­men auf dem Schaltaktor ein (s. Abbildung 7).

• Setzen Sie die Wippe in den Rahmen ein (s. Ab-
bildung 8).

• Schalten Sie die Leitungsschutzschalter des
Stromkreises wieder ein.

• Der Schaltaktor ist nun betriebsbereit und kann
an den Homematic IP Access Point angelernt
werden (s. „6.4 Anlernen“ auf Seite 21).

6.4 Anlernen

Bitte lesen Sie diesen Abschnitt erst vollständig,
bevor Sie mit dem Anlernen beginnen.

Richten Sie zunächst Ihren Homematic IP Access
Point über die Homematic IP App ein, um weitere
Homematic IP Geräte im System nutzen zu kön­nen. Weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie in der
Bedienungsanleitung des Access Points.

Sie können das Gerät an den Access Point oder an
die Zentrale CCU3 anlernen. Weitere Informatio
nen dazu entnehmen Sie bitte dem Homematic IP
Anwenderhandbuch (zu finden im Downloadbe
reich unter www.homematic-ip.com).

Damit das Gerät in Ihr System integriert werden und mit
anderen Homematic IP Geräten kommunizieren kann,
muss es zunächst an den Homematic IP Access Point
angelernt werden.

Zum Anlernen des Geräts gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

• Önen Sie die Homematic IP App auf Ihrem
Smartphone.

• Wählen Sie den Menüpunkt „Gerät anlernen“ aus.

• Nach der Installation ist der Anlernmodus für 3
Minuten aktiv.

Sollte die Zeit bereits verstrichen sein, können Sie
den Anlernmodus manuell für weitere 3 Minuten
starten, indem Sie die Wippe entfernen und die
Systemtaste (A) kurz mit einem spitzen Gegen­stand drücken (s. Abbildung 9).

• Das Gerät erscheint automatisch in der Home­matic IP App.

• Zur Bestätigung geben Sie in der App die letzten
vier Ziern der Gerätenummer (SGTIN) ein oder
scannen Sie den QR-Code. Die Gerätenummer
finden Sie auf dem Aufkleber im Lieferumfang
oder direkt am Gerät.

• Warten Sie, bis der Anlernvorgang abgeschlossen
ist.

• Zur Bestätigung eines erfolgreichen Anlernvor-

gangs leuchtet die LED (A) grün. Das Gerät ist nun
einsatzbereit.

• Leuchtet die LED rot, versuchen Sie es erneut.

• Wählen Sie die gewünschte Lösung für Ihr Gerät
aus.

• Vergeben Sie in der App einen Namen für das Ge­rät und ordnen Sie es einem Raum zu.

7 Fehlerbehebung

7.1 Befehl nicht bestätigt

Bestätigt mindestens ein Empfänger einen Befehl nicht,
leuchtet zum Abschluss der fehlerhaften Übertragung die
LED (A) rot auf. Grund für die fehlerhafte Übertragung kann
eine Funkstörung sein (s. „10 Allgemeine Hinweise zum
Funkbetrieb“ auf Seite 28). Die fehlerhafte Übertra­gung kann folgende Ursachen haben:

• Empfänger nicht erreichbar,

• Empfänger kann Befehl nicht ausführen (Lastaus­fall, mechanische Blockade etc.) oder

• Empfänger defekt.

7.2 Duty Cycle

Der Duty Cycle beschreibt eine gesetzlich geregelte Be­grenzung der Sendezeit von Geräten im 868 MHz-Be­reich. Das Ziel dieser Regelung ist es, die Funktion aller im
868 MHz-Bereich arbeitenden Geräte zu gewährleisten.
In dem von uns genutzten Frequenzbereich 868 MHz be-

trägt die maximale Sendezeit eines jedes Gerätes 1 % ei­ner Stunde (also 36 Sekunden in einer Stunde). Die Geräte
dürfen bei Erreichen des 1 %-Limits nicht mehr senden,
bis diese zeitliche Begrenzung vorüber ist. Gemäß dieser
Richtlinie, werden Homematic IP Geräte zu 100 % nor­menkonform entwickelt und produziert.
Im normalen Betrieb wird der Duty Cycle in der Regel
nicht erreicht. Dies kann jedoch in Einzelfällen bei der In­betriebnahme oder Erstinstallation eines Systems durch
vermehrte und funkintensive Anlernprozesse der Fall sein.
Eine Überschreitung des Duty-Cycle-Limits wird durch
ein langes rotes Blinken der LED (A) angezeigt und kann
sich durch temporär fehlende Funktion des Gerätes äu­ßern. Nach kurzer Zeit (max. 1 Stunde) ist die Funktion des
Gerätes wiederhergestellt.

Wiederherstellung der Werkseinstellungen

8 Wiederherstellung der Werksein-

stellungen

Die Werkseinstellungen des Geräts können wie­derhergestellt werden. Dabei gehen alle Einstel­lungen verloren.

Um die Werkseinstellungen des Geräts wiederherzustel­len, gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

• Entfernen Sie ggf. die Wippe.

• Drücken Sie für 4 s mit einem spitzen Gegenstand
(z. B. mit einem Stift) auf die Systemtaste (A), bis
die LED schnell orange zu blinken beginnt (s. Ab-
bildung 10).

• Lassen Sie die Systemtaste wieder los.

• Drücken Sie die Systemtaste erneut für 4 s, bis die
LED grün aufleuchtet (s. Abbildung 11).

• Lassen Sie die Systemtaste wieder los, um das
Wiederherstellen der Werkseinstellungen abzu­schließen.

Das Gerät führt einen Neustart durch.

Nach dem Neustart können Sie das Gerät wieder in Ihr
Homematic IP System integrieren.

Wartung und Reinigung

9 Wartung und Reinigung

Das Gerät ist wartungsfrei. Überlassen Sie eine
Reparatur einer Fachkraft.

Schalten Sie vor Ausbau des Geräts unbedingt die
Netzspannung frei (Sicherungsautomat abschal­ten)! Arbeiten am 230 V-Netz dürfen nur von ei­ner Elektro-Fachkraft (nach VDE 0100) erfolgen.

Reinigen Sie das Gerät mit einem weichen, sauberen,
trockenen und fusselfreien Tuch. Verwenden Sie keine
lösemittelhaltigen Reinigungsmittel, das Kunststoge­häuse und die Beschriftung können dadurch angegrien
werden.

10 Allgemeine Hinweise zum

Funkbetrieb

Die Funk-Übertragung wird auf einem nicht exklusiven
Übertragungsweg realisiert, weshalb Störungen nicht
ausgeschlossen werden können. Weitere Störeinflüsse
können hervorgerufen werden durch Schaltvorgänge,
Elektromotoren oder defekte Elektrogeräte.

Die Reichweite in Gebäuden kann stark von der im
Freifeld abweichen. Außer der Sendeleistung und
den Empfangseigenschaften der Empfänger spielen
Umwelteinflüsse wie Luftfeuchtigkeit neben bauli
chen Gegebenheiten vor Ort eine wichtige Rolle.

Please read this manual carefully before beginning oper­ation with your Homematic IP device. Keep the manual
so you can refer to it at a later date if you need to.
If you hand over the device to other persons for use,

Do not open the device. It does not contain any
parts that need to be maintained by the user.
There is a risk of electric shock if the device is

The device is not a toy: do not allow children to

Exceeding this capacity could lead to the de­struction of the device, fires or electric shocks.

The circuit to which the device and the load will
be connected must be protected by a circuit
breaker in accordance with EN60898-1 (tripping
characteristic B or C, max. 10 A rated current,
min. 6 kA breaking capacity, energy limitation
class 3). Installation regulations according to VDE
0100 and HD382 or 60364 must be observed.
The circuit breaker must be easily accessible to
the user and marked as the disconnecting device
for the actuator.

3 Function and device overview

The Homematic IP Switch Actuator for brand switches
is suitable for installation in a flush-mounting box for
switches from various manufacturers. Once installed, the
device switches up to two connected loads (e.g. lamps)
on and o via two independent channels.

The switch actuator enables easy control of the connected
loads via the switch's button rockers. The switch's upper
rocker controls channel 1 and the lower rocker controls
channel 2 (in toggle mode). Alternatively, operation is also
possible via radio remote control or the HomematicIP app.

Adapters for dierent switches enable switches from
popular manufacturers to be replaced cost eectively
with an intelligent Homematic IP installation. The design,
colour and finish of already installed switches remain the
same since existing frames and rockers can continue to
be used.

4 General system information

This device is part of the Homematic IP smart home sys­tem and works with the Homematic IP protocol. All devic­es of the system can be configured comfortably and indi­vidually with the user interface of the Central Control Unit
CCU3 or flexibly via the Homematic IP smartphone app
in connection with the Homematic IP cloud. All available
functions provided by the system in combination with
other components are described in the Homematic IP
Wired Installation Guide. All current technical documents
and updates are provided at www.homematic-ip.com.

5 Adapters for brand switch systems

To achieve compatibility with as many manufacturers as
possible and make integration in dierent designs easier,
dierent rocker adapters are available as accessories.

6 Start-up

6.1 Installation instructions

Please read this entire section before starting to
install the device.

Before installation, please note the device num­ber (SGTIN) labelled on the device as well as the
exact installation location in order to make later
allocation easier. You can also find the device
number on the QR code sticker supplied.

Please note! Only to be installed by persons with
the relevant electro-technical knowledge and
experience!*

Incorrect installation can endanger

Incorrect installation also means that you are running the
risk of serious damage to property, e.g. from fire. You risk
personal liability for personal injury and property damage.

Specialist knowledge required for installation:

• The “5 safety rules” to be used:
disconnect from mains; safeguard from switching on
again; check that no voltage is present in system; earth
and short circuit; cover or cordon o neighbouring live
parts;

• Select suitable tool, measuring equipment and, if neces­sary, personal safety equipment;

• Evaluation of measuring results;

• Selection of electrical installation material for safeguard­ing shut-o conditions;

• IP protection types;

• Installation of electrical installation material;

• Type of supply network (TN system, IT system, TT sys­tem) and the resulting connecting conditions (classical
zero balancing, protective earthing, required additional

measures etc.).

Installation may only take place in normal com­mercial switch boxes (device boxes) in accord­ance with DIN 49073-1.

The device may only be operated with adapters
and an associated, fitted switch cover. The switch
cover may only be removed during configuration.

6.3 Installation

To install the switch actuator, please proceed as follows:

• Switch o the circuit breaker of the power circuit.
(see fig. 2).

• Pull the rocker o the frame of the relevant
switch.

• Then pull the frame o the switch together with
the clamping / retaining piece. The clamping/
retaining piece can be transparent, grey or black
depending on the manufacturer, and holds the
frame onto the switch.

To make removal easier, a slotted screwdriver, for
example, can be used.

• Loosen the fastening of the existing switch on
the flush-mounted box and carefully remove the
switch.

• Release the wiring and remove the existing
switch.

• Connect the Homematic IP switch actuator as
shown in figure 3.

• Place the switch actuator in the flush-mounted
box and fasten it to the device using the screws
supplied (see figure 4+5).

• Place the frame of your switch series on the
switch actuator (see figure 6).

• Insert a suitable adapter into the frame on the

switching actuator (see figure 7).

• Insert the rocker into the frame (see figure 8).

• Switch the circuit breaker of the power circuit
back on again.

• The switch actuator is now ready for operation
and can be connected to the Homematic IP Ac­cess Point (see „6.4 Pairing“ on page 44).

6.4 Pairing

Please read this entire section before starting
the pairing procedure.

First set up your Homematic IP Access Point via
the Homematic IP app to enable operation of
other Homematic IP devices within your system.
For further information, please refer to the oper­ating manual of the Access Point.

You can connect the device either to the Access
Point or to the Homematic Central Control Unit
CCU3. For detailed information, please refer to the
Homematic IP User Guide, available for download
in the download area of www.homematic-ip.com.

To integrate the device into your system and enable it
to communicate with other Homematic IP devices, you
must first add the device to your Homematic IP Access
Point.

To add the device, please proceed as follows:

• Open the Homematic IP app on your smart­phone.

• Select the menu item “Add device”.

• After installation, the pairing mode remains acti­vated for 3 minutes.

Start-up

If the time has exceeded, you can manually restart
the pairing mode for another 3 minutes by re

moving the rocker and pressing the system button
(A) briefly with a pointed object (see figure 9).

• Your device will automatically appear in the
Homematic IP app.

• To confirm, enter the last four digits of the device
number (SGTIN) in your app or scan the QR code.
The device number can be found on the sticker
supplied or attached to the device.

• Wait until pairing is completed.

• If connecting was successful, the LED (A) lights
up green. The device is now ready for use.

• If the LED lights up red, please try again.

• Select the desired solution for your device.

• In the app, give the device a name and allocate
it to a room.

7 Troubleshooting

7.1 Command not confirmed

If at least one receiver does not confirm a command, the
device LED (A) lights up red at the end of the failed trans­mission process. The failed transmission may be caused
by radio interference (see „10 General information about
radio operation“ on page 50). This may be caused by
the following:

• Receiver cannot be reached.

• Receiver is unable to execute the command (load
failure, mechanical blockade, etc.).

• Receiver is faulty.

7.2 Duty cycle

The duty cycle is a legally regulated limit of the transmis­sion time of devices in the 868 MHz range. The aim of
this regulation is to safeguard the operation of all devices
working in the 868 MHz range.
In the 868 MHz frequency range we use, the maximum
transmission time of any device is 1% of an hour (i.e. 36
seconds in an hour). Devices must cease transmission
when they reach the 1% limit until this time restriction
comes to an end. Homematic IP devices are designed
and produced with 100% conformity to this regulation.
During normal operation, the duty cycle is not usually
reached. However, repeated and radio-intensive pairing
processes mean that it may be reached in isolated in­stances during start-up or initial installation of a system.

Troubleshooting

If the duty cycle is exceeded, this is indicated by one long
red lighting of the device LED (A), and may manifest itself
in the device temporarily not working. The device starts
working correctly again after a short period (max. 1 hour).

8 Restoring factory settings

The device’s factory settings can be restored. If
you do this, you will lose all your settings.

To restore the factory settings of the device, please pro­ceed as follows:

• Remove the rocker (if necessary).

• Press and hold down the system button (A) for 4
s with a pointed object (e.g. a pen) until the LED
will start flashing orange quickly (see figure 10).

• Release the system button.

• Press and hold down the system button again for

• Release the system button again to conclude the
procedure.

The device will perform a restart.

After the restart, you can again integrate your device into
your Homematic IP system.

9 Maintenance and cleaning

The product does not require any maintenance.
Enlist the help of an expert to carry out any re­pairs.

The mains voltage must be disconnected before
the device is removed (trip the miniature cir­cuit-breaker). Only qualified electricians (to VDE

0100) are permitted to carry out work on the
230V mains.

Clean the device using a soft, lint-free cloth that is clean
and dry. Do not use any detergents containing solvents,
as they could corrode the plastic housing and label.

10 General information about radio

operation

Radio transmission is performed on a non-exclusive
transmission path, which means that there is a possibil­ity of interference occurring. Interference can also be
caused by switching operations, electrical motors or de­fective electrical devices.

The range of transmission within buildings can dif­fer greatly from that available in the open air. Be­sides the transmitting power and the reception
characteristics of the receiver, environmental fac
tors such as humidity in the vicinity have an impor­tant role to play, as do on-site structural/screening
conditions.
