DESCRIPTION
The Model 53A00-2 OmniTouch PoE 5.7e Touchscreen with Video is a colorful network touchscreen interface for HAI controllers and Home Theater Extenders. The OmniTouch 5.7e features customizable graphics for control of lights and small appliances, to monitor and adjust security and temperatures, pool and spa settings, ventilation, audio distribution, home theater equipment, surveillance video, and other essential elements controlled by an HAI home automation system.
The OmniTouch 5.7e can display video from IP cameras and HAI Camera Servers. Camera images can be programmed to automatically pop-up on specified touchscreens based upon an event (e.g. driveway sensor is tripped), and run macros (e.g. activate an electric door strike) from the OmniTouch 5.7e. It is ideal for seeing who is at the front door, pool, yard, or nursery.
The OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen can be fully customized using HAI Automation Studio software, which gives you complete control of the look, content, feel, and function of the OmniTouch 5.7e. You can create a more vivid, user-friendly graphical interface based on a home’s décor or user’s lifestyle and interests.
PLANNING
The OmniTouch 5.7e is an IEEE 802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD). The OmniTouch 5.7e receives its power over the same cable that connects the OmniTouch 5.7e to the network, using a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device, such as a PoE network switch, hub, or power injector which provides the power.
It is very important to plan where the OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen will be installed. Each OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen must be installed within 100 meters (328 feet) of a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device.
In selecting a place to mount the touchscreen, be sure to avoid an area where studs, plumbing, or electrical wiring may be located behind the wallboard. It should be mounted so that the display is at or slightly below eye level.
Wiring Requirements:
When connecting an OmniTouch 5.7e to the network, a Cat-5 (4-pair) cable is required for operation. Run the Cat-5 cable between the location of the PoE network switch, hub, or power injector and the location of the OmniTouch 5.7e.
The maximum distance between the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device and the OmniTouch 5.7e and is 100 meters (328 feet). Terminate both ends of the Cat-5 cable with 8-position modular connectors to make a standard straight through network patch cable.

INSTALLATION
1) Make the cutout for the touchscreen
Hold the template (Installation Template – 53A10-1) against the wall so the top edge is at the appropriate height and parallel to the floor. Using a Punch, or similar instrument, punch through the center of each tick mark (+) on the template.
Drill a 1/4" hole at each punch mark. Using a pencil, draw a line around the quadrant of each hole as shown as shown. Carefully cut along the pencil line.

2) Remove the faceplate
Remove the faceplate from the touchscreen by grasping the top and bottom edges of the faceplate and carefully lifting it away from touchscreen backbox.
Note: After installation, the faceplate may be removed by placing a flat blade screwdriver in one of the slots on the bottom of the faceplate and gently lifting to release the latch on the respective side. Repeat by using the slot on the opposite side.

3) Remove the touchscreen assembly from the backbox
a. Remove the two screws as shown in Figure 3 (DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREWS
ON THE GREEN CIRCUIT BOARD). Retain screws for reassembly.
b. Remove the touchscreen assembly as shown in Figure 3.

4) Install the backbox into the cutout in the wall
a. Insert the communications cable through the rectangular cutout in the touchscreen
backbox.
b. Locate the retaining flange screws in the upper right and lower left corners. Turn the
screws counterclockwise until the gap between the retaining flange and the housing flange is wider then the wall (see Figure 4).

c. Place the assembled unit into the cutout in the wall.
d. Turn the retaining flange screws clockwise until they are snug (do not over tighten).

5) Connect the communications cable to the touchscreen
Insert the 8-position modular cable into the RJ-45 connector (J1) on the touchscreen, through the cutout in the touchscreen backbox (see Figure 6).

6) Install the touchscreen assembly
a. Align the tabs on the touchscreen assembly with the slots on the backbox.

b. Swing the touchscreen assembly in place and secure to backbox using screws that
were removed in Step 3.
7) Install the touchscreen faceplate
Before installing faceplate, remove the protective film from the LCD area of the touchscreen. Fasten the faceplate onto the touchscreen by hanging the top of the faceplate on the top edge of the touchscreen, then gently snapping the bottom onto the touchscreen.
REMOVING THE TOUCHSCREEN
After installation, if it is necessary to remove the touchscreen from the wall, turn retaining flange screws 1 turn counterclockwise.
Note: Do not turn the retaining flange screws more than 1 full turn counterclockwise; otherwise the retaining flange may fall off into the wall.

CONFIGURING THE TOUCHSCREEN
When power is first connected to the OmniTouch 5.7e touchscreen, if the touchscreen hasn’t previously been connected to the network or hasn’t been configured to communicate with the HAI controller, the touchscreen Configuration Page is displayed.
There are several items on the Configuration Page that must be configured. These items are contained in 3 categories: Network, Controller, and Screen Setup. To modify settings in a category, touch the respective tab at the top of the Configuration Page.
Network
The OmniTouch 5.7e touchscreen is a networked device. It must first join a TCP/IP network before it can connect to the HAI controller.
The OmniTouch 5.7e touchscreen has a configurable DHCP client. When enabled (default), the DHCP client will accept an IP Address and other network parameters for the touchscreen from a DHCP server on the network (e.g. most routers act as a DHCP server).
If DHCP is disabled on the router and there is no other DHCP server on the network, you can disable the DHCP client in the touchscreen by pressing the “Off” button. In this case, you must manually assign the touchscreen a static IP address. The IP address of the touchscreen must be compatible with your existing network.
Note: When configuring the touchscreen for remote access, HAI recommends that you assign each touchscreen a static IP address (i.e. turn off the DHCP client in the OmniTouch).

If DHCP is disabled, the following network parameters must be configured:
1. Enter the IP address of the OmniTouch 5.7e by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of
the “IP Address” edit box.
The format of the IP address is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
2. Enter the Port of the OmniTouch 5.7e by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of the
“Port” edit box.
The Port is used to remotely (from outside the network) update the OmniTouch 5.7e touchscreen using HAI Automation Studio. To remotely access the touchscreen, the Port for each touchscreen must be different and must be forwarded in the router to the IP address of the respective touchscreen. Port numbers range from 0 to 65535.
3. Enter the Subnet Mask of the network by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of the
“Subnet Mask” edit box.
The format of the Subnet Mask is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
4. Enter the Default Gateway of the network by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of the
“Default Gateway” edit box.
The format of the Default Gateway is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
5. Enter the DNS Server address on the network by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of
the “DNS Server” edit box.
The format of the DNS Server is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
After all network parameters have been entered or confirmed, press the “Controller” tab to configure the connection information for the HAI controller or press the [OK] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings and connect to the configured HAI controller.

Controller
To connect the OmniTouch 5.7e to an HAI controller, enter the HAI controller network connection information on the page under the “Controller” tab.
1. Enter the IP address of the HAI Controller by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of the
“Controller” edit box.
The controller’s local network IP address is used to identify the HAI controller on the network. The format of the IP address is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
2. Enter the Port number of the HAI Controller by pressing the [Edit] button to the right of the
“Controller Port” edit box.
The controller’s local network port number identifies the logical channel to the HAI controller. In most installations, the default port number can remain the same. Port numbers range from 0 to 65535. Press the [OK] button when complete.
3. Enter Encryption Key 1 and Encryption Key 2 of the HAI Controller by pressing the [Edit]
button to the right of the respective “Encryption” edit box.
The Encryption Keys are used to encrypt and decrypt the data between the HAI controller and the OmniTouch 5.7e. This key consists of 16 bytes (that is 16 2-digit values from 0-9 and/or the letters A-F). It is entered in two parts (Key 1 and Key 2) consisting of 8 bytes each, with each byte separated by a hyphen. Press the [OK] button when complete.
4. Test the connection to the HAI controller by pressing the [Test] button.
If the connection is successful, “Connection Successful” will be displayed.

If the connection is unsuccessful, “Connection Failed” will be displayed. Check the controller’s IP address, port setting, and encryption key.
5. If an HAI controller is not being used, press the [Off] button under “Controller”. This can
be used if you are using an OmniTouch 5.7e to communicate with an HTX Home Theater Extender, but are not connecting to or do not have an HAI controller.
After all controller connection parameters have been entered or confirmed, press the “Screen Setup” tab to configure various operating parameters of the OmniTouch 5.7e or press the [OK] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings and connect to the HAI controller.
Screen Setup
The Screen Setup page allows you to configure the Volume, Sounder, Key Click, Brightness, Backlight Timeout, and Ambient Light settings of the OmniTouch 5.7e. The Screen Setup page also allows you to calibrate the touchscreen and displays the version of the installed firmware.
Volume : Sets the volume for the sounder and key click.
Enables or disables the touchscreen sounder. The sounder is used

to alert you of errors, troubles, and messages, and emits tones upon entry and exit delays.

Brightness (0-50): Adjusts the brightness level of the touchscreen display.
Sets the length of time (in minutes) that the touchscreen display remains illuminated after the last time a button is pressed on the touchscreen.
Backlight Timeout (0-14):
After the time has expired, the touchscreen display turns off. Simply touch anywhere on the screen and the display will immediately illuminate.
A setting of “0” means the touchscreen is always illuminated (“0” is not a recommended setting).

Calibrate
If the touch targets on the touchscreen appear to be offset from the buttons, the touchscreen can recalibrated by pressing the [Calibrate] button. Use a stylist or other object with a dull point, to touch the center of each of the 5 tick marks (+). They will appear in the following order: Center, Top Left, Lower Left, Lower Right, and Top Right.
Once all five tick marks have been touched, touch anywhere on the screen to return to the Screen Setup page. Check the touch target accuracy. Recalibrate if necessary.
Ambient Setting
The Ambient Setting is used to brighten the touchscreen display in an illuminated room and dim the touchscreen display in a dark room. When changing from a light setting to dark (e.g. the lights in the room are turned off), the touchscreen will maintain its “light” setting until 30 seconds after the room is darkened. When changing from a dark setting to light (e.g. the lights in a dark room are turned on), the touchscreen will immediately change to its “light” setting.
To set the “light” and “dark” settings, with the room illuminated set the “Brightness” setting for optimal viewing of the display, then press the [Light] icon. Then, darken the room (e.g. turn off the lights or wait until the sun goes down) and set the “Brightness” setting for optimal viewable of the display, then press the [Dark] icon.
Note: The “Brightness” level must be set higher for the ambient “light” setting, than the “Brightness” level set for the ambient “dark” setting.

After you exit the Configuration Page, when the light level reaches the “light” threshold, the display will illuminate to the brighter settings; when the light level reaches the “dark” threshold, the display will dim to the darker setting.
Once configured, to disable the ambient settings so that the screen is always at the same intensity, set the “Brightness” to the desired level, and then press the [Light] icon immediately followed by the [Dark] icon. By default, the ambient settings are disabled.
Firmware Version
The version of installed firmware in the OmniTouch 5.7e is displayed above the [OK] button on the Screen Setup page.
After all screen parameters have been entered or confirmed, press the “Cameras” tab to configure HAI Camera Servers or press the [OK] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings and connect to the configured HAI controller.
Cameras
The Cameras page allows you to add up to 2 HAI 87A00-1 Camera Servers (4 cameras per HAI Camera Server) to the OmniTouch 5.7e design without using HAI Automation Studio. This allows you to easily configure up to 8 cameras to be displayed on the OmniTouch 5.7e without any additional software or configuration.

1. Enter the IP address of the first HAI Camera Server by pressing the [Edit] button to the
right of the “Camera Server IP” edit box.
The Camera Server’s IP address is used to identify the HAI Camera Server on the network. The format of the IP address is a numeric address entered as four numbers separated by periods. Press the [OK] button when complete.
2. Enter the Port number of the first HAI Camera Server by pressing the [Edit] button to the
right of the “Port” edit box.
The camera server’s port number identifies the logical channel to the HAI Camera Server.
Note:
If you intend to access cameras from outside of the network (e.g. on a PC using the Camera Server’s built-in web server) and if more than 1 Camera Server is being used, each Camera Server must have a different Port number.
Furthermore, if the default Port (Port 80) is being used by another device or service on the network, the default Port must be change to an open port on the network.
Port numbers range from 0 to 65535. Press the [OK] button when complete.
3. Enter the IP address of the second HAI Camera Server by pressing the [Edit] button to
the right of the “Camera Server IP” edit box. Press the [OK] button when complete.
4. Enter the Port number of the second HAI Camera Server by pressing the [Edit] button to the
right of the “Port” edit box.
Note:
If you intend to access cameras from outside of the network (e.g. on a PC using the Camera Server’s built-in web server) the second Camera Server must have a different Port number.
Port numbers range from 0 to 65535. Press the [OK] button when complete.
After Camera Server parameters have been entered or confirmed, press the [OK] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings and connect to the configured HAI controller.
RETURNING TO THE CONFIGURATION PAGE
To return to the Configuration Page at any time, press on any blank space on any page of the OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen, and hold for 5 seconds.

UPDATING THE TOUCHSCREEN
The USB Update Port on the OmniTouch 5.7e allows you to update the touchscreen to the latest firmware and the HAI default design. This allows you to update the OmniTouch 5.7e when HAI Automation Studio is not available or is unable to connect.
Note: If a custom design is loaded in the OmniTouch 5.7e, when it is updated using the USB Update Port, the custom design will be overwritten with the HAI default design.
The Update Port is a USB port in the lower right section of the touchscreen.
USB UPDATE PORT
To update the OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen:
1) Load the update file on a USB thumb drive.
2) Plug the thumb drive into the USB Update Port on the OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen and
press the reset button.
3) When the USB drive reboots, the touchscreen will read the files on the root directory of
the drive and display any applicable update files. Note: it may take several seconds before the files are displayed on the touchscreen.
4) Select the desired file from the list and then press the “Next” button. Follow the
instructions on the screen.

RESETTING THE TOUCHSCREEN
If for any reason the touchscreen needs to be reset, remove the faceplate and press and hold the reset button marked "SW1" on the circuit board to the right of the LED for 1 second.
