IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be taken to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
1) Read all instructions before using the appliance.
2) To avoid fire or shock hazard, plug the appliance directly into a 120 V AC electrical outlet.
3) The heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, DO NOT let bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 ft (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
4) DO NOT run cord under carpeting. DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or the like. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
5) This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. NEVER locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
6) This unit is wall mountable, but DO NOT mount heater on ceilings.
7) Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by, or near children or invalids, and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
8) Always unplug the heater when not in use.
9) When unplugging, be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.
10) DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
11) DO NOT operate heater with a damaged cord or plug, or after the heater malfunctions, has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
12) A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. DO NOT use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
13) Use appliance only for intended household use as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by The Holmes Group may cause hazards.
14) DO NOT use outdoors.
15) To prevent a possible fire, DO NOT block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. DO NOT use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where
openings may become blocked.
16) To disconnect heater, turn controls to OFF, then remove plug from outlet.
17) Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire. However, if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be No. 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875 watts.
18) If the heater will not operate, see specific instructions on Auto Safety Shut-off.
19) DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void your warranty. The inside of
the unit contains no user serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only.
Thank you for choosing a Holmes heater. To ensure the best performance from your heater, please read and save the
following instructions.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
AUTO SAFETY SHUT-OFF WITH INST ANT TIP-OVER PROTECTION
:
This heater is equipped with a patented, technologically-advanced safety system that requires the user to reset the heater if there is a potential overheat situation. When a potential overheat temperature is reached, the system will automatically shut the heater off. It can only resume operation when the user resets the unit.
To Reset the Heater:
1. Turn the Selector Control to the OFF position and thermostat to HI
2. Unplug the heater and wait 10 minutes for the unit to cool down
3. After the 10 minutes, plug the unit in again and operate normally.
Tip-Over Shut Off: When the unit is accidentally knocked over, it will instantly shut off. To
reset, simply place the heater in an upright position.
PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Carefully remove your heater from the box. (please save the carton for off-season storage).
2. Make sure the unit is in the OFF position before plugging the heater into the outlet.
3. Place heater on firm level surface after attaching base (see below for assembly)
4. Avoid overloading your circuit by not using other high wattage appliances in the same outlet. At 1500 Watts, this unit draws
12.5 Amps.
FOR FLOOR OR WALL MOUNT USE ONLY
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
There are 4 casters and 1 base provided within the packaging that you will need to assemble the heater.
Note: Casters are not necessary for the unit to run properly. If you wish to install the base without casters skip to step 3.
1. Carefully remove the base and 4 casters from the box.
2. Turn the base upside down and push caster shafts into the 4 corresponding holes on ends of the base.
3. Carefully remove the heater from the box and turn it upside down with grill facing you. The control panel will be on your left.
4. Place the base (with the tab on the left) on what now is the top of the heater directly onto the corresponding locators and slide the base to the left. This will secure the unit and the base together.
5. To remove the heater from the base, turn the heater upside down (with the grill facing you), and slide the base to the right and lift it up.

WALL MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS:
CAUTION: PLEASE MAKE SURE THE HEATER IS UNPLUGGED AND COOLED DOWN TO ROOM TEMPERATURE BEFORE WALL MOUNTING THIS UNIT.
This unit has the unique feature of using the base as the wall mount bracket. (Wall mounting hardware is not supplied.) Refer to Figure 2. To install the heater on the wall, follow these easy steps:
Note: If your unit has casters attached, you’ll need to remove them. If the base is still attached to the bottom of the heater, you’ll need to remove it (follow step 5 in assembly instructions).
1. Select a location on the wall where you would like to have the heater mounted.
2. Use the base as a template for hole locations
3. Use appropriate hardware for different mounting surfaces (see below). Selected hardware must be able to support a minimum of twenty-pound weight.
4. When securing the base/wall mount to the wall, keep the lock tab to your left.
5. Once the base/wall mount is in place, align the mounting tabs on the back of the heater with the holes in the base/wall mount and slide the heater to the right until it stops and is secure.
6. To remove the heater, simply slide it to the left.
NOTE: This unit is not to be mounted in ways other than shown in Figure 2. There are many ways to attach your heater to vertical walls if desired.
Please, use the applicable section of this manual to safely install your heater.
For wood walls
You’ll need a 1/8" drill bit and two #10-12 x 1 1⁄2" screws
1. Use the base of the heater as a template to outline the hole location
2. Using 1/8" drill bit, drill 1 1⁄4" deep pilot holes
3. Protrude the screws through the two outer holes in the base and secure the base to the wall
4. Slide the heater onto the base
For drywalls with studs
We recommend that you use wooden studs behind the drywall for better support and performance of your heater. Remember that in most American homes, studs behind the wall are spaced 16" apart and the drywall is 1⁄2"-5/8" thick. Note that the distance between the two farthest holes of the base is 16" as well.
1. Find studs behind the drywall.
2. Use the base of the heater as a template to center the holes on studs
3. Using 1/8" drill bit, drill 1 3⁄4" deep pilot holes
4. Protrude #10-12 x 2" screws through the two outer holes in the base and screw them into pre-drilled holes
5. Slide the heater onto the base
For drywalls without studs and other solid walls
1. Use the base of the heater as a template to outline the hole location
2. Using 1⁄4" drill bit, drill pilot holes through the wall
3. Insert 1⁄4" plastic anchors into the holes
4. Protrude #10-12 x 1 1/2'’ screws through the two outer holes in the base and screw them into the anchors
Slide the heater onto the base
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Unless wall mounted, place heater on a firm level floor surface.
2. For heater operation, please set the Thermostat all the way to HI. (See Figure 1)
3. Turn the Selector Control to desired heat setting (LO for 750W or HI for 1500W).
4. The Power Light will remain lit during operation
Note: This unit does not have a fan. It warms the air by natural convection.
THERMOSTAT INSTRUCTIONS:
1. You need to set thermostat on HI to start heater (See Figure 1). Allow heater to operate and warm up the room.
2. When the desired temperature/comfort level is reached, lower the thermostat setting until the heater stops operating.
3. The control will now automatically maintain the pre-set temperature level by turning the heater ON and OFF. The Temperature Range Display can be used as guidance, but will not provide exact measurement.
Note: It is normal for the heater to cycle ON and OFF as it maintains the preset temperature. To prevent the unit from cycling, you need to raise the thermostat setting.
Note: The LED Display shows approximate temperature settings.
