TACHOMETER

INSTRUCTIONS

The Hobbico Mini Digital Tachometer is a

hand-held meter intended to measure and
display revolutions per minute (RPM) of R/C
hobby propellers/motors. This tach is capable
of measuring multi-bladed propellers up to
99,999 RPM. With an integrated blue backlit
display, this tachometer is a very handy
addition to any  eld kit.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS

● Do not allow water, moisture or
foreign objects into the meter.

● Keep the tachometer and/or hands at a safe
distance away from rotating propellers!

● Do not use in areas which are illuminated
by  uorescent lighting as it can cause
measurement errors.

LCD READOUT

A custom LCD was designed speci cally for

the Mini Digital Tachometer. This display can
read RPM in real-time values. The integrated
blue backlight aids in viewing displayed data.

INTERNAL BATTERY

REPLACEMENT

This tachometer includes a 3V non-

rechargeable CR2032 lithium coin cell. If the
meter does not display data, the battery may
need to be replaced. To replace the battery,
carefully remove the four screws from the
rear of the meter and remove the case rear.
Carefully remove the old battery and insert
a new cell, making sure to observe proper
orientation inside the meter.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Power On/Off

IMPORTANT: It’s best to use this
tachometer in areas which are
illuminated by natural, incandescent,
or LED lighting.

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the
meter.

2. Brie y press the SET button to set the
number of blades to be read. The number
of blades must match the number of
blades on the propeller on the model.

3. Point the sensor on the end of the
tachometer within 2-4 inches (5-10 cm)
of the rotating propeller. Observe the
reading on the display.

WARNING: Always keep  ngers and
hands away from moving propellers!

To turn on the display’s backlight, press and
hold the SET button for 3 seconds.

This tachometer will read and hold the peak
or maximum RPM along the bottom edge of
the display. This data will be held until power
is cycled on the tachometer.

AUTO-OFF TIMER

A built-in timer will automatically turn the

meter OFF after approximately 1 minute if
no data is read by the sensor. This is to help
keep the internal 3V battery from becoming
drained.

1 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Hobbico warrants this product to be free
from defects in materials and workmanship
for a period of one (1) year from the date of
purchase. During that period, we will repair
or replace, at our option, any product that
does not meet these standards. You will be
required to provide proof of purchase (receipt
or invoice). If, during the 1 year warranty
period, your Hobbico product shows defects
caused by abuse, misuse, or accident, it will
be repaired or replaced at our option, at a
service charge not greater than 50% of the
current retail list price. Be sure to include
your daytime phone number in case we need
to contact you about your repair. Under no
circumstances will the purchaser be entitled
to consequential or incidental damages as
a result of using this product. This warranty
gives you speci c legal rights, and you may
also have other rights which vary from state to
state. If you attempt to disassemble or repair
this unit yourself it may void the warranty.
