Manual
SP Scale System
The following manual was created to use in conjunction with
the current SP Supervisor Manual (F-17773 Rev. C). It is not
intended to replace the existing manual. Firmware versions
-100, -200 and -300 are addressed in this supplement.
This manual tells you how to:
♦ Set up metric rule to enable net weight quantity to be
printed in appropriate units. This is not required for
food packaged at the retail store level.
♦ Use UPC T
♦ Use the 1.25” (description) labels to print up to 4 lines of
text on label type 0.
♦ Select date line options to define which date fields to
print on the label.
♦ Configure an extra digit for net weight PLUs. This
enables you to print net weight to
♦ Set up the top header line of the date line to print on the
label.

Setting Up Metric Rule
(for Net Weight)
QUICK STEPS
From the Function Code
Prompt:
1. Type 51 and PRESS
[ENTER].
2. PRESS [(▲)].
3. Enter 0, 1, or 2 at Metric
Rule prompt.
The Metric Rule setting enables the Net Weight quantity
field to be printed in appropriate units. This option is not
required for food packaged at the retail store level.
Selecting 0 for metric rule will essentially turn metric rule
off.
To set up the Metric Rule:
1. PRESS [SUPERVISOR]. If a Secret ID is set up, enter
your Secret ID. The Function Code prompt displays.
2. Type 51 and PRESS [ENTER]. The Bycnt Metho prompt
displays.
3. PRESS the [UP ARROW (▲)] key until you see the Metric
Rule prompt.
4. Enter 0, 1, or 2. The default is 0 (Zero). If your Metric
Rule is set to 0, your net weight will print one weight
type, for example ounces or grams.
Refer to the tables, at the end of this section, for an
explanation of each option.
5. PRESS [ENTER] to save changes and exit to the FunctionCode prompt.

Using UPC Number
System 4
UPC number system 4 can be used with either random or
fixed weight. When number system 4 is selected you are
rompted for the vendor and product number. This operates
similar to types 0, 6 and 7, but it includes both random and
fixed weight. Most sites will not utilize this option.
☛ Note
The following examples are for UPC Type 2; which is the
factory default. If your system is configured for UPC Type 0
or UPC Type 1, you will notice slight differences from the
following examples.
To change your UPC Type, contact your local Hobart
Representative.
Setting Up a Random Weight
PLU
To set up a random weight PLU with UPC number system 4:
1. PRESS [SUPERVISOR]. If a Secret ID is set up, the Enter
Secret ID prompt displays.
2. Enter
3. Type 10 and PRESS [ENTER] or PRESS [FILE UPDATE].
The PLU Code prompt displays.
4. Enter the PLU number. The New Record prompt displays
followed by the PLU? prompt.
5. PRESS [ENTER]. The Fixed Weight prompt displays.
6. PRESS [CLEAR]. The UPC -- (2 or 4) prompt displays.
7. Type 4 and PRESS [ENTER]. Vendor # prompt displays.
8. Enter the vendor number and PRESS the [DOWN
ARROW (▼)] key. The Product # prompt displays.
9. Enter the product number and PRESS the [DOWN
ARROW (▼)] key. The Description prompt displays.
Continue entering the appropriate information in the
prompts that follow as described in the Supervisor Manual.
