HITACHI
-Vor Arbeitsbeginn allgemeine Sicherheitsvorschriften beachten, z. B. Ausleger
oder andere bewegte Teile abstützen
-Vor Schweißbeginn unbedingt Hauptschalter ausschalten!
-Bohr- und Schweißarbeiten nur nach nachfolgender Einbauanleitung
durchführen!
-Masseanschluss so nahe wie möglich an der Schweißstelle anschließen.
-Bei Schleifarbeiten alle Bauteile, die beschädigt werden könnten, abdecken,
z.B. Glasscheiben und Hydraulikschläuche!
-Lackbeschädigungen vermeiden bzw. nach Schleif- oder Schweißarbeiten
grundieren und mit Originalfarbe nach lackieren.
-Vor dem Abschrauben der Schmiernippel, Lager mittels Fettpresse auf
Durchgängigkeit prüfen und evtl. Hohlräume in den Lagerungen mit Fett
komplett auffüllen. (Besonders wichtig auch bei Lagerreparaturen)
-Achten Sie darauf, dass während der Montage keine Verunreinigungen in die
Komponenten der Zentralschmieranlage und die Lagerstellen eindringen
können.
Arbeiten Sie mit sauberem Werkzeug.

-Before start working, please note the general security instructions, for
example: support the outrigger or other moving parts.
-Before welding: switch off the main switch!
-Carry out drilling and welding works only after reading these installation
instructions!
-Connect the earth connection as close as possible to the welding point.
-Grinding works: Cover all components, which might be damaged (like glass or
hydraulic tubes.)
-Avoid damage to painting and repaint with original paint after grinding or
welding work.
-Before removing the lubrication nipple, check the free passing of the lubricant
through the bearings with a grease press. Fill grease cavities in the bearings if
necessary. (Important after bearing repaired)
-Please ensure that no contamination can penetrate into the components of
the central lubrication system and the bearings during assembly.
-Work with clean tools.

1. Allgemeines:
Die Steuerungsgeneration EP-tronic ist eine neu konzipierte Einheit in integrierter Bauform für die
EP-Pumpenfamilie.
Das Steuergerät ist mit einer Betriebsdatenbank ausgestattet, die folgende Werte speichert:
-Steuerungstyp
-Version der Steuerung
-Seriennummer
-Fertigungsdatum
-RTC (Real-Time-Clock) Datum und Uhrzeit einstellbar auch für andere Zeitzonen
-Betriebsart (Zeit-, Takt-, Drehzahlsteuerung)
-Aktuelle Werte (Zeiten, Takte, Überwachungen, Fehler...)
-Betriebsstunden
-Laufzeit der Pumpe

2. Funktionsablauf:
Unabhängig vom eingestellten Programm leuchtet nach dem Einschalten der Zündung die grüne
und die rote LED bzw. die grüne und die rote Signallampe im Führerhaus (Option) für 1,5 sec. und
zeigt die Funktionsbereitschaft der Steuerung an (Einschaltkontrolle).
Bei jedem Erstanschluss der Steuerung beginnt ein Schmiervorgang, die grüne LED in der
Steuerungshalbschale leuchtet während des gesamten Schmiervorgangs.
Das integrierte elektronische Steuergerät EP-tronic verfügt über einen Datenspeicher. Dieser dient
u. a. der Speicherung abgelaufener Parameter. Wird die Zündung während einer Schmierung oder
im Verlauf der Zykluszeit unterbrochen wird die Zeit gestoppt und gespeichert. Nach dem
Wiedereinschalten der Zündung werden die verbleibende Schmierzeit oder Zykluszeit aus dem
Speicher gelesen und der Funktionsablauf wird dort fortgesetzt wo er unterbrochen wurde.
Bei eingeschalteter Zündung kann zu jeder Zeit durch Betätigen des Drucktasters an der Seite des
Motor-gehäuses der Pumpe oder eines Drucktasters oder Leuchtdrucktasters im Führerhaus eine
Zwischenschmierung ausgelöst werden, diese dient auch der Funktionsprüfung. Die Pumpe
beginnt dann sofort mit einem Schmierzyklus. Die bis dahin aufgelaufene oder gespeicherte
Schmier- bzw. Zykluszeit wird zurückgesetzt und beginnt von Neuem.
Eine Störung kann durch Drücken der Zwischenschmiertaste zurückgesetzt werden und die
Pumpe startet erneut einen Schmiervorgang.
Über die Lampe des Leuchtdrucktasters (grün) können die Funktionsbereitschaft der Steuerung und
der aktuelle Ablauf einer Schmierung angezeigt werden.
2. Function sequence:
Whatever program is being used, once the ignition has been switched on the green and the red
LED or the green and the red signal lamp (optional) lights up on the control panel for 1.5 sec. and
shows that the controller is operational (activation control).
Every time the controller is activated for the first time, a lubrication process begins. The green LED
in the control half shell is lit during the entire lubrication procedure.
The EP-tronic integrated electronic controlling device has memory at its disposal. This also serves
to keep a record of parameters elapsed. Should the ignition be switched off during lubrication or
cycle times occur, then the time is stopped and recorded. Once the ignition is switched on again the
remaining lubrication or cycle time is read from the memory and the sequence will be resumed
where it was interrupted.
At any time when the ignition is on, an interim lubrication occurs when the button on the side of the
pump motor housing or the illuminated button on the control panel is activated, this serves as a
check of functionality. The pump then immediately starts its lubrication cycle, the lubrication or
cycle duration recorded up to that point is reset and starts from the beginning.
A error can be reset by pressing the interim lubrication button and the pump starts the lubrication
process anew.
The lamp on the illuminating button (green) shows the functionality of the controller and the current
lubrication sequence.

3. Betriebsarten:
A) Taktsteuerung:
Die Schmierdauer kann mit dem integrierten elektronischen Steuergerät EP-tronic auch mit Hilfe
der Anzahl der Schmiertakte am Progressivverteiler bestimmt werden.
Dazu ist es notwendig die Anzahl der Kolbenhübe eines Progressivverteilers zu zählen. Wird
Schmierstoff in einen Progressivverteiler gefördert ,bewegt dieser die Kolben permanent und
fortlaufend. An einem dieser Kolben des Progressivverteilers wird ein Näherungsschalter
angebaut, der bei jedem Kolbenhub ein Signal zur Steuerung sendet.
Sobald die Pumpe beginnt Schmierstoff in das System zu fördern, beginnen die Kolben der
Progressivverteiler sich zu bewegen und die Steuerung zählt die vom Näherungsschalter
erkannten Impulse. Bleiben die Signale des Näherungsschalters nach Beginn des
Schmiervorgangs länger als 12 min. (Standardeinstellung) aus, zeigt die Steuerung eine Störung
an. Die grüne und die rote LED im Sichtfenster der Steuerung am Motorschutzgehäuse der Pumpe
oder die evtl. eingebaute grüne und rote Signallampe beginnen zu blinken.
Der Näherungsschalter kann am Progressivverteiler nicht nachträglich eingebaut werden. Eine
Nachrüstung ist durch den Austausch einer Verteilerscheibe möglich (siehe Beschreibung MX-F
oder SXE-2).

3. Method of operation
A) Stroke controller:
With the EP-tronic integrated electronic controller, the lubrication duration can also be defined with
the help of the number of lubricating strokes on the progressive distributor.
For this purpose, it is necessary to calculate the number of piston strokes of a progressive
distributor. If lubricant is supplied through a progressive distributor, this brings the pistons into
permanent and continual motion. A proximity switch is build in to one of these pistons in the
progressive distributor, which sends a signal to the controller on each piston stroke.
As soon as the pump begins to supply lubricant to the system, the pistons in the progressive
distributor start to move and the controller counts the impulses detected by the proximity switch. If
the proximity switch detects no signals for 12 minutes after the lubrication process has begun, the
controller indicates an error. The green and red LEDs on the controller display on the pump´s motor
housing or the green and red signal lamps, if attached, start to flash.
The proximity switch on the progressive distributor cannot be installed subsequently. Retrofitting is
possible by replacement of a distributor shim (see description MX-F or SXE-2).

4. Einstellung der Parameter:
Die Zykluszeit bzw. Schmierzeit, die Anzahl der Takte und die Anzahl der Umdrehungen können mit
Hilfe von Rasterschaltern im Sichtfenster der Steuerung eingestellt werden.
Zur Einstellung der Parameter den roten Rahmen am Motorschutzgehäuse der Pumpe mit einem
flachen Schraubendreher entfernen, die vier Kreuzschlitzschrauben lösen und den transparenten
Schutzdeckel entfernen.
Die Zyklus- bzw. Schmierdauer kann mit einem flachen Schraubendreher eingestellt werden.
Bei unsachgemäßem Verschließen des Verschlussdeckels tritt Wasser in die Steuerung ein
wodurch diese zerstört wird. Die Garantie erlischt in diesem Fall.

4. Adjusting the parameters:
If the cover plate is not replaced properly, water may enter the controller and damage it. In this case,
the guarantee is no longer valid.
The cycle time and lubrication time, the number of strokes and the number of revolutions can be set
by means of graduating switches in the controller’s sight glass.
To adjustment the parameters setting, remove the red frame on the pump’s motor housing using a
flat screwdriver, loosen the four Phillips screws and remove the transparent protective cover.
The cycle during and lubrication during can be adjusted using a flat screwdriver.

5. Zusammenfassung der Signalanzeigen
Über zwei Kontroll-LED´s (grün/rot) im Sichtfenster der Motorhalbschale der Pumpe werden die
Funktionen der Pumpe angezeigt, wobei durch die rote LED immer eine Störung im
Programmablauf angezeigt wird.
Diese Funktionen der Kontroll-LEDs können auch über im Führerhaus des Fahrzeuges eingebaute

An die integrierte elektronische Steuerung EP-tronic kann eine Fettstandskontrolle
angeschlossen werden.
Zu diesem Zweck wird in den Vorratsbehälter der Pumpe ein kapazitiver
Näherungsschalter eingebaut.
Dieser sendet, solange genügend Fett im Behälter vorhanden ist, ein Signal zur
Steuerung. Sinkt der Fettstand unter Minimum schaltet der Näherungsschalter das
Signal ab.
Bleibt das Signal länger als 10 sec. aus schaltet die Steuerung die Pumpe ab, damit
keine Luft in das System gepumpt wird.
6. Fettstandskontrolle
A grease level controller can be attached to the EP-tronic integrated electronic controller.
For this purpose a capacitive proximity switch has been built in to the pump´s reservoir.
As long as there is enough grease available in the reservoir, the proximity switch sends a
signal to the controller. If the grease level sinks below minimum the proximity switch turns the
signal off.
If the signal remains off for more than 10 sec. then the controller switches the pump off, so that
no air is pumped into the system.

Die Fettstandskontrolle kann angeschlossen an die Steuerung bestellt werden, in diesem Fall ist ein
Anschlusskabel 0,6 m lang mit einer winkligen Buchse M12x1 zum Anschluss an den Steckanschluss
der Fettstandskontrolle und einen winkligen Stecker M12x1 zum Anschluss an die Steuerung im
Lieferumfang enthalten.
Soll die Fettstandskontrolle an eine externe Steuerungs-einheit, z. B. SPS, angeschlossen werden
muss ein Kabel mit einer Buchse M12x1 zum Anschluss an den Steckkontakt der Fettstandskontrolle
gesondert bestellt werden (siehe Beschreibung EP-1).
Die Fettstandskontrolle kann nachgerüstet und an die Steuerung angeschlossen werden. Die
Funktion muss in diesem Fall mit Hilfe der Software BEKA-DiSys aktiviert werden. Die Funktion darf
nicht aktiviert sein, wenn keine Fettstandskontrolle angeschlossen ist, da dies zu einem Dauerfehler
führen würde.
Auch bei der Nachrüstung der Fettstandskontrolle muss das Kabel gesondert bestellt werden (siehe
Zeichnung rechts).
Der Anschluss an die Steuerung EP-tronic erfolgt über den mit einem roten Ring gekennzeichneten
Steckanschluss an der unteren Motorhalbschale der Pumpe, dazu muss die Abdeckung des
Steckkontaktes entfernt werden.
Die rote LED im Sichtfenster der Steuerung am Motorschutzgehäuse der Pumpe oder eine evtl.
eingebaute rote Signallampe beginnen zu leuchten.
Wird das Fett nachgefüllt, beginnt die Steuerung selbstständig wieder zu arbeiten.

Instandsetzungsanleitung bei Blockade einer
Progressivanlage
Ursache einer Blockade in der Anlage:
· Eine zerdrückte oder verstopfte Schmierleitung
· Ein mit Schmierstoff überfülltes oder verstopftes Lager
· Ein für Zentralschmieranlagen ungeeigneter Schmierstoff
· Ein verschlossener Verteilerabgang
· Ein blockierter Verteiler
Anzeige einer Blockade:
Ein über den Betriebsdruck ansteigender Überdruck weist auf eine Blockierung hin und wird
wie folgt angezeigt:
Fettaustritt am Überdruckventil
· Durch den Überdruckanzeiger oder Überdruckventil mit Mikroschalter an der
Pumpe (Option)
· Am Manometer (Option)
· Am Überdruckanzeiger, montiert am Verteiler (Option)
Auffinden der Blockadestelle:
Sind Überdruckanzeiger (Sonderausführung) an den Verteilern montiert, wird die
Blockierung leicht gefunden. Bei Verteilern ohne Überdruckanzeiger ist wie folgt
vorzugehen:
1) Hauptleitung am Hauptverteiler abschrauben. Pumpe betätigen und prüfen, ob der
Schmierstoff einwandfrei gefördert wird.

Progressive Lubrication System
Reason of a system blockade:
· A creased or blocked lubrication line
· A bearing overfilled or blocked by lubricant
· Lubricant not suitable for central lubrication systems
· Distributor outlet closed
· Blocked distributor
Blockade indication:
If the system pressure should exceed the rated operating service pressure, there may be a
blockade in the system and will be indicated as follows:
· grease comes out of the pressure relief valve
· by the “overpressure indicator” or by the pressure relief valve with micro-switch at
the pump (optional)
· by the pressure gauge (optional)
· by the “overpressure indicator”, mounted at the distributor (optional)
Identification of a point of blockage:
How to find a blocked point:
When over pressure indicators (special model) are fitted to the distributors, it will be easy to
detect the point of blockage. When over pressure indicators are not provided, proceed as
follows:
1) Disconnect the main pipe from the main distributor. Actuate the pump and check if
lubricant supply is effected in correct manner.

2) Hauptleitung am Hauptverteiler anschrauben. Nacheinander die Überwurfschrauben
des Verteilers ausschrauben und jedesmal die Pumpe betätigen.
Bei der Leitung (Überwurfschraube) wo der Druck abfällt, bzw. wo sich die Handpumpe
betätigen lässt ist die blockierende Leitung bzw. Schmierstelle. Ist der Hauptverteiler
überprüft und die Blockierung gefunden muss nach dem gleichen Prinzip der
dazugehörige Nebenverteiler bis zur Schmierstelle überprüft werden.
Bei großen Anlagen ist es vorteilhaft, an den Verteilern einen Schmiernippel einzuschrauben
und dann mit einer Handpumpe die Funktion des Verteilers zu prüfen.
Siehe Abbildung.
Instandsetzung eines blockierenden Verteilers:
Verteiler aus der Anlage entfernen. Die Reihenfolge der Verteilerscheiben notieren. Die
Verschlußschrauben der Kolbenbohrungen ausschrauben und die Kolben hin und her
schieben (nicht herausschieben), Verschlussschrauben wieder einschrauben. Nächste
Verteilerscheibe überprüfen, bis der blockierte Kolben gefunden ist.
Den Kolben der blockierten Verteilerscheibe ausschieben und Bohrung der Verteilerscheibe
und Oberfläche des Kolbens auf Kratzer und Beschädigungen überprüfen. Bei schwereren
Beschädigungen Verteilerscheibe austauschen.

2) Re-connect the main pipe to the main distributor. Remove the cap screws of the
distributor one after another and actuate the pump each time.The blocked line or point
of lubrication is in the line (capscrew) where the pressure decreases or where the hand
pump can be actuated. After the main distributor has been checked and the point of
blockade has been detected, the concerned secondary distributor has to be checked
with the same method up to the point of lubrication, by the same principle of work.
In case of big systems is better to install a grease nipple at the distributor and check the
distributor with a hand pump as shown in the figure.
Repair of a blocked distributor:
Remove the distributor from the system, and note the order of the distributor disks. Remove
the lock screws of the piston holes and move the pistons a little bit to and (do not push them
out) re-insert the lock-screws. Check the next distributor disk until the blocked piston is
found.
Push the piston of the blocked disk and check the drilling of the distributor disk and the
piston surface for scratches and damage. Remove disributor disks in the case of serious
damage affected by serious deficiencies.

Caution! Pistons are not interchangeable!
Deposits of hardened grease detected at pistons and drillings of section units must be
eliminated by washing and blowing.The drillings in section units must be free of residues of
grease. This should be checked by use of some thin wire.
Caution!
Hardening of grease indicates that the lubricant being used is not suitable for the central
lubrication system. Ask for advice by the supplier of the lubricant. After having checked all
section units, re-assemble the distributor complying with the sequence noted down
previously. In order to preclude jamming of pistons, tighten the tie rods applying the torque
usually concerned for the screw size. (MX-F 12Nm)
· Check the distributor for correct operation, using oil or grease
· Install the distributor in the system
· Start operating the system and check it for correct operating pressure
Important! The repair work has to be done under maximum cleanliness.
Achtung! Kolben sind nicht untereinander austauschbar!
Zeigen der Kolben und die Bohrungen der Verteilerscheibe Ablagerungen von verhärtetem
Fett, muss dieses durch Auswaschen und Ausblasen entfernt werden. Die Bohrungen in der
Verteilerscheibe müssen frei von Fettrückständen sein. Mit einem dünnen Draht ist dieses
zu überprüfen.
Achtung!
Wenn Fett verhärtet ist dies ein Zeichen dafür, dass es für die Zentralschmieranlage
ungeeignet ist. Der Schmierstofflieferant sollte zu Rate gezogen werden. Sind alle
Verteilerscheiben überprüft, wird der Verteiler in der notierten Reihenfolge wieder montiert.
Um ein Klemmen der Kolben zu verhindern, sind die Zugstangen mit dem für die
Schraubengröße normalen Anzugsmoment anzuziehen. (MX-F 12Nm)
· Verteiler mit Öl oder Fett auf Funktion überprüfen
· Verteiler in Anlage montieren
· Anlage in Betrieb nehmen und den Betriebsdruck kontrollieren
Wichtig! Alle Instandsetzungsarbeiten müssen unter grösstmöglicher
Sauberkeit durchgeführt werden.
