The mains lead on this equipment is supplied with a moulded plug incorporating a fuse, the value of which is indicated on the pin face of the plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced, an ASTA or BSI approved BS1362 fuse must be used of the same rating. If the fuse cover is detachable, never use the plug with the cover omitted. If a replacement fuse cover is required, ensure it is of the same colour as that visible on the pin face of the plug. Fuse covers are available from your dealer. DO NOT cut off the mains plug from this equipment. If the plug fitted is not suitable for the power points in your home or the cable is too short to reach a power point, then obtain an appropriate safety approved extension lead or consult your dealer. If there is no alternative to cut off the mains plug, ensure that you dispose it immediately, having first removed the fuse, to avoid a possible shock hazard by inadvertent connection to the mains supply.
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live As these colours may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured BLUE or BLACK. The wire coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured BROWN or RED. On no account connect either of these wires to the terminal marked E or by the earth symbol or coloured green or green and yellow.
Cautions:
When the VCR is moved from a cold to a warm place, dew condensation can occur on the cylinder. To avoid damaging the cylinder or tape do not
operate the set immediately. Allow it to dry by leaving it powered on for 2 ~ 3 hours.

Programming the timer
This VCR incorporates two programming procedures for timer recording. One is conventional, and the TV programme No., start time, stop time, recording date, etc., must be input, and the other is called VIDEO Plus+ programming system and up to 9 digits must be input.
Programming the timer using VIDEO Plus+ programming system
Things to know before starting programming
To find the PlusCode programming number, look in the TV section of most newspapers or TV guide magazines.
Check that the time and date are correct.
You have about one minute to complete each
step of the procedure. If you do not proceed to the next step within this time, all entries are erased and you must start again.
Be sure to check that VCR1 or VCR2 is displayed.
This VCR is designed so it can be controlled when either VCR1 or VCR2 is selected. See REMOTE on page 60.
Press the VIDEO PLUS+ button.
Enter the PlusCode programming number from
the TV guide or newspaper etc. for the programme you want to record, by using the number buttons.
After entering the PlusCode programming number,
press the ENTER button.
The programmed details appear.
If you wish to change the programme allocations, see the additional operations page 62.
If you wish to change the start (ON) time or end (OFF) time, press the EXTEND button – (for start time) or + (for end time). The start (ON) time can be brought forward by up to 10 minutes in one minute intervals and the end (OFF) time can be delayed by up to 60 minutes in 10 minutes intervals.
Notes:
Use of PlusCode programming numbers. PlusCode programming numbers only record programmes at the times shown in the TV guide. The VCR timer will not follow the TV programme if the time is changed for any reason (e.g. delayed due to previous programme).
If you intend to use the PDC function, press the PDC button to switch on the PDC function.

Insert a cassette with safety tab intact. Turn the VCR to OPERATE off mode, then press and hold the Video Link button on the VCR for more than 2 seconds. The Video Link indicator will lights on.
At the programmed start-time, the decoder will activate your VCR to start recording. Subsequently, the VIDEO LINK recording will automatically stop if: a) No signal received by the VCR for more than 1
second.
b) When tape ended, the tape will be ejected and
the VCR goes to OPERATE off mode.
Notes:
If the recording has already started, to interrupt or to stop the recording, you can do one of the following: a) Press and hold VIDEO LINK button for more than
2 seconds.
b) Press the OPERATE button followed by STOP
button within 10 seconds.
To cancel the VIDEO LINK mode setting, you can do one of the following: a) Press the VIDEO LINK button for more than 2

MAINTENANCE
1. To maintain the optimum performance of this VCR, regular periodic maintenance is required. Your dealer will advise you further.
2. Maintenance and adjustments may not be carried out by the user. In all cases of difficulty or doubt, consult your dealer.
3. Head cleaning Dirt accumulated on the video heads after a period of time may cause the playback picture to become blurred or part of the video information to be lost. This does not mean that the recorded programme has been erased but head cleaning is required.
Since this VCR uses an auto head cleaning system, dirt does not often adhere to the heads.
If dirt still cannot be removed, consult your dealer.
Auto Head Cleaning System
This system cleans the video heads automatically when a cassette is inserted and ejected or the VCR is turned on or off while a cassette is in the VCR, to prevent dirt from accumulating on the heads.

PDC (Programme Delivery Control) FUNCTION
If the VCR is tuned to a TV station transmitting a PDC signal, the VCR automatically takes any delay, early starting or extension of the programme into account when recording the specified programme. For example, assume that you programme the timer for a football game on station 8 from 19:00 to 20:45 on Saturday and the football game which is broadcast is changed from 21:00 to 23:00, the PDC function works and the VCR records the football game automatically from 21:00 to 23:00.
Notes:
1. The first time you do timer programming with this set, the PDC function is off.
2. To switch on the PDC function, press the PDC button once. Pressing the button again turns PDC off.
3. Subsequently, the on/off default follows your previous setting.
4. Always programme the timer for one TV programme to record the programme with the PDC function turned on. If you programme the timer for a football game and a movie on station 3 sequentially from 10:00 to 14:00 for example, only the football game will be recorded but the movie will not. In this case, programme the timer with the PDC off or input the other programme using another programme number to turn on the PDC function again.
5. When the VCR is tuned to a station transmitting a PDC signal but the signal conditions are poor, programme the timer with PDC turned off. If you programme the timer with PDC turned on, the PDC function does not operate normally.
6. When reviewing the programmed information as shown in the TV screen above, you can see
the marking of at the end of the
programmed details. (Refer to programme No. 1 and 2). This indicate that the PDC function is turned on when performing the timer programming.
7. If the broadcast programme does not have a PDC signal, your timer recording will function according to the time you have preset on the VCR.
8. A programme without PDC signal will be deleted after it has been recorded. Whereas, the programme with PDC signal will only be automatically deleted after 4:00 am the next morning.
