Lens Replacement Manual
Lens replacement should be performed by a service engineer.
When changing the lens, place the LCD projector right way up on a horizontal surface. Do not change the lens with the projector facing upwards or downwards or when
the projector is suspended.

1. Preparing to attach the lens (1) Take the lens adapter supplied with the LCD projector and mount it so that the connector on the lens is aligned with the socket of the lens adapter.
Caution:
Be careful not to touch the surface
of the lens.
Do not touch the socket of the lens
adapter or subject it to impact as this may lead to malfunction.
Do not hold the lens by the lens
shade as this may lead to injury or malfunction.
Be sure to remove the tape xing the hexagonal screw on the lens.
Be sure to remove the lens cap. Installing the lens in the LCD projector with the
lens cap on may lead to malfunction.
2. Preparing to attach the lens (2) Using the hexagon wrench supplied with the LCD projector, attach the lens adapter with the four hexagon screws on the lens. Connect the connector on the lens to the socket of the lens adapter.
3. Preparing to attach the lens (3) Unscrew the front ring from the LCD projector and remove the cap.

6. Attaching the lens (2) Support the lens installed in the LCD projector and move the lock lever on the projector as far as it will go to the right (until the lock lever clicks into the locked position).
Caution:
after attaching the lens, check that it is securely mounted and that the lock lever does not move.
7. Assembling the main unit parts (1) Insert the two catches on the front cover into the LCD projector body to attach the front cover.
8. Assembling the main unit parts (2) Have the blind sheet supplied with the lens ready and mount it on the lens shade.
Mount the blind sheet with its matte side facing out.

1. Lens attachment is completed. Follow the procedures in step 1 through step 6 for Attaching the SD-804/LL-805/ UL-806 Lens and install the lens in the LCD projector.
2. Attaching the optional parts (1) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Have the two blinders supplied with the lens ready and mount the fi rst blinder on the lens shade.
3. Attaching the optional parts (2) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Rotate the attached blinder to the underside of the lens and mount the second blinder on the lens shade in the same way. Engage the two catches on these blinders.

6. Attaching the optional parts (3) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Have the two protectors supplied with the lens ready and insert the fi rst protector between the front ring and the lens.
7. Attaching the optional parts (4) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Rotate the attached protector to the underside of the lens and insert the second protector in the same way between the front ring and the lens. Engage the two catches on the protector.
8. Lens attachment is completed.

4. Preparing to attach the lens (4) Lift off the front cover to remove it.
5. Preparing to attach the lens (1) Make sure that the terminal on the lens and the terminal on the LCD projector are aligned. Support the lens with the lens adapter attached and install it in the LCD projector so that the adapter rib fi ts into the groove of the projector.
Caution:
Do not hold the lens by the lens
shade as this may lead to injury or malfunction.
Take care to avoid hitting the surface of the lens on the LCD projector when
attaching the lens as this may lead to malfunction.

9. Assembling the main unit parts (3) Screw on the front ring.
Caution:
Take care not to get the blind sheet
trapped when fi tting the front ring as this may lead to malfunction.

4. Assembling the main unit parts (1) Insert the two catches on the front cover into the LCD projector body to attach the front cover.
5. Assembling the main unit parts (2) Screw on the front ring.

When using the USL-801 lens, the edges of the projected image may appear dark or shadows may be visible. If this happens, use the lens shift function to adjust the position of the projected image.

Changing from an SD-804/LL-805/UL-806 Lens to a USL-801/SL-802/SL-803 Lens
Changing from a USL-801/SL-802/SL-803 Lens to an SD-804/LL-805/UL-806 Lens
1. Disassembling the main unit parts (1) Unscrew the front ring.
Caution:
Be sure to turn off the LCD projector
before changing the lens.
Return the lens shift to the center
position. Refer to the user manual supplied with the LCD projector for instructions on how to return the lens shift to the center position.
2. Disassembling the main unit parts (2) Remove the blind sheet.
3. Disassembling the main unit parts (3) Remove the front cover.
4. Removing the lens (1) Support the lens and move the lock lever to the left while pressing the lock lever release button on the LCD projector.
5. Removing the lens (2) Support the lens and remove the lens from the LCD projector. Place the detached lens on a soft cloth or similar.
Caution:
Do not hold the lens by the lens shade
when removing the lens as this may lead to injury or malfunction.
Take care to avoid hitting the surface
of the lens on the LCD projector when removing the lens as this may lead to malfunction.
6. Removing the lens (3) Unplug the connector on the lens from the socket of the lens adapter. Using the hexagon wrench supplied with the LCD projector, loosen the four hexagon screws on the lens and remove the lens adapter. Have the replacement USL-801/SL-802/ SL-803 lens ready. Follow the procedures in steps 1 and 2 for Attaching the SD-804/ LL-805/UL-806 Lens and mount the lens adapter on the replacement lens.
7. Attaching the lens (1) Follow the procedures in steps 5 and 6 for Attaching the SD-804/LL-805/UL-806 Lens and install the lens in the LCD projector. Support the lens with the lens adapter attached and install it in the LCD projector.
Caution:
Do not hold the lens by the lens shade
when attaching the lens as this may lead to injury or malfunction.

14. Attaching the optional parts (4) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Rotate the attached protector to the underside of the lens and insert the second protector in the same way between the front ring and the lens. Engage the two catches on the protector.
10. Lens attachment is completed.

1. Removing the optional parts (1) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Rotate the protector 90° until the catch is at the top.
Caution:
Be sure to turn off the LCD projector
before changing the lens.
Return the lens shift to the center
position. Refer to the user manual supplied with the LCD projector for instructions on how to return the lens shift to the center position.
2. Removing the optional parts (2) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Using a fi ne-tipped object or the hexagon wrench supplied with the LCD projector, disengage the catch on the protector. Disengage the catch on the opposite side in the same way.
3. Removing the optional parts (3) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Remove the two protectors.
4. Disassembling the main unit parts Unscrew the front ring. Remove the front cover.
5. Removing the optional parts (4) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Rotate the blinder 90° until the catch is at the top. Disengage the catch on the opposite side in the same way. Disengage the catch on the opposite side in the same way.
6. Removing the optional parts (5) (SL-802/SL-803 only) Remove the two blinders.
7. Removing the lens (1) Support the lens and move the lock lever to the left while pressing the lock lever release button on the LCD projector.

8. Removing the lens (2) Support the lens and remove the lens from the LCD projector. Place the detached lens on a soft cloth or similar.
Caution:
Do not hold the lens by the lens
shade when removing the lens as this may lead to injury or malfunction.

9. Removing the lens (3) Unplug the connector on the lens from the socket on the lens adapter. Using the hexagon wrench supplied with the LCD projector, loosen the four hexagon screws on the lens and remove the lens adapter. Have the replacement USL-801/SL-802/ SL-803 lens ready. Follow the procedures in steps 1 and 2 for Attaching the SD-804/ LL-805/UL-806 Lens and mount the lens adapter on the replacement lens.
10. Attaching the lens (1) Follow the procedures in steps 5 and 6 for Attaching the SD-804/LL-805/UL-806 Lens and install the lens in the LCD projector. Support the lens with the lens adapter attached and install it in the LCD projector.

Do not hold the lens by the lens shade
when attaching the lens as this may lead to injury or malfunction.

11. Attaching the lens (2) Support the lens installed in the LCD projector and move the lock lever on the projector as far as it will go to the right (until the lock lever clicks into the locked position). After attaching the lens, check that it is securely mounted and that the lock lever does not move.
Caution:
To prevent the lens from falling off, after attaching the lens, check that it is
securely mounted and that the lock lever does not move.
12. Assembling the main unit parts (1) Insert the two catches on the front cover into the LCD projector body to attach the front cover.
13. Assembling the main unit parts (2) Have the blind sheet supplied with the lens ready and mount it on the lens shade.
Mount the blind sheet with its matte side facing out.
14. Assembling the main unit parts (3) Screw on the front ring. 10. Lens attachment is completed.
Caution:
Take care not to get the blind sheet

Flange-back Adjustment (USL-801 only)
(The two blinders and two protectors are not supplied with the USL-801 lens.)
1. Check the surrounding focus When an image is projected onto the screen after the USL-801 lens has been installed in the LCD projector, the surrounding area may be out of focus in relation to the center. If this happens, adjust the fl ange-back (FB) of the lens. The surrounding focus can be corrected by adjusting the fl ange- back.
Caution:
As the fl ange-back has already been
adjusted at the factory prior to shipping, do not adjust more than necessary.
2. Remove the lens Place the detached lens on a soft cloth or similar.
Caution:
Be sure to turn off the LCD projector
before changing the lens.
Return the lens shift to the center
position. Refer to the user manual supplied with the LCD projector for instructions on how to return the lens shift to the center position.
3. Remove the fi xing ring Using the small hexagon pin supplied with the lens, loosen the setscrew on the xing ring and unscrew the fi xing ring.
4. Loosen the setscrews Using the small hexagon pin supplied with the lens, loosen the three setscrews for fi xing the lens body.
5. Loosen the temporary fi xing screw (1) Using the large hexagon pin supplied with the lens, loosen the temporary fi xing screw on the underside.
Caution:
Do not loosen the temporary fi xing
screw on the top until the lens is installed in the LCD projector.
6. Install the lens Follow the procedures in Attaching the Lens and install the lens in the LCD projector. Position the LCD projector at the desired projection distance or desired projection size.

7. Insert the FB adjustment pin Insert the supplied FB adjustment pin in the FB adjustment window on the lens. Insert the narrow end of the FB adjustment pin.
8. Loosen the temporary fi xing screw (2) Using the large hexagon pin, loosen the temporary fi xing screw on the top.
9. Prepare for fl ange-back adjustment Project the image for adjustment from the LCD projector onto the screen. Move the FB adjustment pin slowly clockwise or counterclockwise and adjust the fl ange- back while checking the projected image, until the center of the image comes into focus.
10. Adjust the fl ange-back If the surrounding area in the near screen is in focus while the center of the image is in focus, follow the procedure below to adjust the fl ange-back. (1) Use the LCD projector remote
control or control panel to adjust the surrounding focus in the + (plus) direction.
(2) Move the FB adjustment pin slowly
counterclockwise until the center
comes into focus. (3) Check the surrounding focus. (4) If the surrounding area is still not in
focus, repeat steps (1) through (3)
above.
If the surrounding area in the far screen is in focus while the center of the image is in focus, follow the procedure below to adjust the fl ange-back. (1) Use the LCD projector remote
controller or operation panel to adjust
the surrounding focus in the - (minus)
direction. (2) Move the FB adjustment pin slowly
clockwise until the center comes into
focus. (3) Check the surrounding focus. (4) If the surrounding area is still not in
focus, repeat steps (1) through (3)
above.

11. Fix the fl ange-back adjustment (1) To fi x the focus after fl ange-back adjustment, use the large hexagon pin to tighten the temporary fi xing screw on the top.
12. Fix the fl ange-back adjustment (2) Remove the lens, which is fi xed temporarily with the screw on the top, and place it on a soft cloth or similar. Tighten the temporary fi xing screw on the underside in the same way.
13. Fix the fl ange-back adjustment (3) Using the small hexagon pin, tighten the three setscrews on the lens body.
14. Fix the fl ange-back adjustment (4) Mount the fi xing ring on the lens and screw on. Mount the fi xing ring with the threaded side facing down.
15. Fix the fl ange-back adjustment (5) Tighten the setscrew on the fi xing ring.
16. Install the lens Follow the procedure in Attaching the Lens to complete installation of the lens in the LCD projector. (The two blinders and two protectors are not supplied with the USL-801 lens.)
