POWER FAILURE
O Heating operation interrupted by a power outage will resume as soon as the power comes back on. O Power failure that last 30 minutes or longer and turn off the indicators will require to reset the current time
of controller.
Timer operation is not possible without setting the current time. (Refer to page 12-15)
SUSPENSION OF THE WATER SUPPLY
O Turn off the water heater water valve when water is not supplied due to a suspension of the water supply or
water service construction. Continued use of the unit under these conditions will result in strainers clogging from the turbid incoming water, the amount of water will drop and the water in the unit will become turbid.
O Do not open the hot water supply knob on the mixer tap during water supply suspended. O When the construction work ends, open the hot water supply knob on the mixer tap and check that the
water has become clean before turning on the water valve.

INSTALLATION
O

Installation work and electrical work require expert knowledge and must be handled by your sales agent.
For information on installation costs and other details, consult your sales agent.
O Determine the location of where the unit should be installed in consultation with your sales agent. O The unit must be properly connected to ground.
A proper ground connection will not only eliminate the risk of electrical shock, but also prevent interference
and noise from static electricity.
WARNING
!
CAUTION
!
OThe water outlet at the bottom
of the outdoor unit discharges condensed water and should therefore be installed in an area with proper drainage.
O Do not use the unit in a
location where there is a risk of  ammable gas leaks, steam, oily smoke or similar locations.
Installation in such locations
could lead to ignition, explosions, resin deterioration and other damage.
O Select a location that is sturdy
enough to support the weight of the unit, which is considerable, especially when the tank is full.
Place of installation
OInstall the unit 1 m or more away from TV sets, radios and radio
antennas. In areas with poor reception, increase the distance so that the unit does not interfere with reception.
O If you live in a seaside area exposed to salty air, in a hot spring
area or other areas where special environmental conditions prevail, consult your dealer before purchasing the unit.
O Do not install the unit in kitchens, machine factories and other
locations exposed to oil spray, locations exposed to smoke, factories or other locations where the voltage  uctuates widely, hospital and workshops where electromagnetic interference is generated or in factories where the air is laden with dust or particulates.
POWER SUPPLY
NOISE CONSIDERATION
O

Use a special circuit directly from the distribution board to power the unit.
O

Power supply to the unit must be directly from the circuit breaker exclusively provided for the units.
OInstall the outdoor unit in a location that is strong enough to support its weight and will not increase the noise
and vibration of the outdoor unit.
O Select a location where the hot or cold air and noise from the air inlets and outlets do not disturb people in
the neighborhood.
O Do not place any objects near the air outlet of the outdoor unit as it will lower unit capacity and increase noise. O Consult your sales agent if you notice that the unit generates abnormal noise during operation.

WARNING
!
Connect the unit to ground to prevent electrical shock in the event of leakage electricity. A ground connection
must be performed according to technical speci cations for electrical appliances. A ground connection will prevent electrical shock and interference caused by discharges of static electricity when touching the unit and thereby eliminate interference with TV and radio reception. For details, consult your sales agent.
Do not make a ground connection to the following objects:
(1) Water pipes (2) Gas pipes (as there is a risk of explosion) (3) Telephone ground connections or lightning rods (as there is a risk of high voltages entering the unit)
CAUTION
Please use earth line.
Do not place the earth line near water or gas pipes, lightning-conductor, or the earth
line of telephone. Improper installation of earth line may cause electric shock.
A circuit breaker should be installed depending on the mounting site of the unit. Without a circuit
breaker, the danger of electric shock exists.
IMPORTANT
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Green-and-yellow : Earth Blue : Neutral Brown : Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured green-and-yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green or green-and-yellow. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
NOTE
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the special cord obtainable at authorized service/parts centers.

SOUNDS
TROUBLESHOOTING
Before calling for service, check whether the list below can solve the problem you are dealing with.
The unit generates a number of different sounds during operation. The following sounds are not abnormal for the operation.
At startup
OPERATION
Sound generated
Type of operation
During operation
Unit is not operating
The water does not become hot or it takes a time for it to heat up
Water comes out of the outdoor unit
Water comes out of the tank unit
Steam is coming out of the outdoor unit
No hot water
Water is coming out of the safety pressure-relief valve
The timer cannot be set
Rustling sounds, whoosh, bubbling sounds, splashing sounds. This is the sound the refrigerant makes in the pipes or the sound of a valve changing the  ow of the refrigerant.
A change in the intensity of operating noise. Sounds indicating changes in operation capacity to cope with temperature changes.
Check whether a power outage has occurred, a fuse is blown or the breaker has tripped.
Check whether the timer has been set and if it has been correctly set.
Check whether the water temperature is correctly set.
Check whether the air outlet or air inlet of the outdoor unit has been blocked.
Check whether the unit is operating in ECO mode.
Check whether the unit is leaking water.
The outdoor unit discharges water during defrosting. In a cold area, this water could freeze so the water outlet on the outdoor unit must not be blocked.
When the outdoor unit is installed overhead, use a bush to connect a drain pipe to the water outlet to arrange proper discharge.
When the temperature of in coming water is very low and the atmosphere around the tank is very humid, dew may form on surface of the metal or piping and may drop.
This is steam generated by frost melting during defrosting in the outdoor unit.
Check if a water outage has occurred. Turn the breaker off and close the water heater water valve during a water outage.
During heating operation (when the indicator is lit or blinking), water leaking is normal.
When the indicator is lit or blinking, the water in the tank is expanding from being heated
and about 3% of tank capacity is discharged.
During operation other than heating (when the indicator is off), water leaking from the
water outlet indicates that the safety pressure-relief valve is defective.
Check whether the unit has been set to off-peak power supply. The timer will not work when the unit is set to off-peak power supply.
