Compatibility Testing
The Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Integration Lab tested this family of Ultrastar™ drives for compatibility with a wide variety of systems and operating systems.
Testing was performed to demonstrate compatibility with the following hardware and software. Other combinations of hardware and software are expected to function with this product family, but have not been evaluated. This compatibility testing confirms simply that the hard drive was recognized, partitioned and then data was written to and read from it. Drive capacity and interface speed are not verified during compatibility testing.
Many factors must be considered in order to take advantage of high-capacity drives (>2.2TB). Some configurations offer a higher likelihood of success. If you want to use a high-capacity drive, please refer to our High Capacity Technology Brief and visit our Above 2TB web page

Host Bus Adapters (HBAs)
These Ultrastar products were found to be compatible with the following HBAs and host controller chipsets, some of which may not be included in the above system list.
If a chipset vendor’s specific SATA driver does not support capacities greater than 2.2TB, you must use the latest Microsoft drivers to gain access to 3TB capacities.
Please verify that you are using the latest firmware and device driver from the HBA manufacturer. Note: Items marked with # are 6Gb/s capable.
