BEFORE YOU BEGIN
For best operation,
1. Insert batteries into remote sensors before inserting batteries in the
main unit.
2. Position the remote units and main unit within effective transmission range, typically up to 100 feet. Note that the effective range depends upon many factors, including structural surroundings. Though the remote units are weatherproof, they should be placed away from direct sunlight, rain, and snow.
BATTERY INSTALLATION: REMOTE UNITS
1. Remove the screws on the battery compartment.
2. Select the desired channel.
3. Install 2 alkaline “AA” batteries.
4. Replace battery compartment door and secure screws.
BATTERY INSTALLATION: MAIN UNIT
1. Open the battery compartment door.
2. Install 2 alkaline “AA”.
3. Replace the battery compartment door.
LOW BATTERY WARNING
A low-battery indicator [ ] will appear on the indoor or outdoor temperature reading to show when the corresponding sensor’s batteries need replaced.
GETTING STARTED
After batteries are installed, remote sensors will transmit temperature readings at 45 second intervals. The main unit may take up to two minutes to receive the initial readings; upon successful reception, outdoor temperatures will be displayed. The main unit will automatically update readings at about 45-second intervals.
If no signals are received by the main unit after two minutes, “-- ” will be displayed. Hold [-] for 2 seconds to begin another signal search.
If no signals are received, try moving the base unit closer to the remote sensor, face the remote sensor towards the base unit, and minimize obstructions such as doors and walls between the sensor and base unit.

WWVB RADIO CONTROLLED TIME
The NIST radio station, WWVB, is located in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and transmits the exact time signal continuously throughout the United States at 60 KHz. The signal can be received up to 2,000 miles away through the internal antenna in the Hammacher Schlemmer Projection Alarm Clock and Weather Monitor. However, due to the nature of the Earth’s ionosphere, reception can be limited during daylight hours. The radio control clock will search for an alternate station that derives its signal from the NIST Atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado.
The WWVB tower icon [ ] on the main unit’s display will flash to indicate that the clock is receiving a radio signal from the WWVB radio station. If the tower icon is not fully lit, or if the time does not automatically set, please read the following:
* During nighttime hours, atmospheric disturbances are typically less
severe and reception may be improved. A single daily reception is sufficient to keep the clock accurate to within 1 second.
* Make sure the main unit is positioned a minimum distance of 8 feet from
any interference source such as a TV, computer monitor, microwave, etc.
* Within concrete rooms such as basements or office buildings, the
received signal may be weakened. Try positioning the unit near a window.

NOTE:
1. The accuracy of a pressure-based forecasting is approximately 70%.
2. Display shows forecasted conditions, not current conditions.
3. The “Sunny” icon indicates clear weather, even when displayed during the nighttime.
MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM TEMPERA TURE
The maximum and minimum record of the indoor and outdoor temperature will be automatically stored in the memory. It will display the minimum, maximum and the current reading upon each press of both “channel” & “-” buttons, the unit will revert back to the current temperature display after 15 seconds. To clear the memory, press “channel” & “-” buttons again, the maximum and minimum readings will be erased.
DISCONNECTED SIGNALS
If the display for a remote sensor goes blank unexpectedly, press [-] for 2 seconds to begin a signal search. If a signal still isn’t received, please check the following:
1. The remote units are positioned in its proper location.
2. The distance between main and remote units are no more than 100 feet, and the path between units is clear of obstacles of possible interference. Shorten the distance between units if necessary.
3. Charged batteries are installed in both the remote unit and main unit.
(Note: When the temperature falls below freezing, the batteries in outdoor remote sensors may have reduced voltage supply and a shorter effective range.
TRANSMISSION COLLISION
Signals from other household devices, such as doorbells, home security systems, and entry controls, may interfere with those of this product and may cause temporary reception failure. This is normal and will not affect the general performance of the product. The transmission and reception of temperature readings will resume once the interference subsides.
HOW TO SET THE RADIO CONTROLLED CLOCK
1. After the main unit receives temperature readings from the remote unit(s), the WWVB time signal receiver will automatically search for the time signal. This will take 5-8 minutes in typical conditions.
2. If the radio signal is received, the date and time will be set automatically, and the [ ] icon will appear.
3. If the time signal has not been received after 8 minutes, use the “MODE” button to set the time manually. The clock will continue to automatically search for the WWVB time signal for every hour between 1:00 am and 4:30 am each day. When the signal has been successfully obtained, the time and date will be updated automatically.
