SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
GROUNDED PLUG: As a safety feature, this appliance is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only t into a three-prong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualied electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. AN EXTENSION CORD MAY BE USED IF CARE IS EXERCISED IN THEIR USE:
- Minimize the risk of overheating by using the shortest UL or ETL listed cord possible.
- The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.
- Never use a single extension cord to operate more than one appliance.
- If the product is of the grounding type, the extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.
- Arrange the longer cord so that it will not drape over a countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally (especially by children).
DO NOT alter the plug. DO NOT attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
Remove all packaging material, labels and stickers. Ensure that no packaging material debris remains on the appliance or heating elements.
Before the initial use, wipe the base, cover and controls with a damp cloth. Ensure that the plates, drip trays and cleaning tool are thoroughly washed (refer to the CLEANING in this instruction manual). The heating element may be cleaned with a damp cloth – do not immerse element in water.
Do not place the product on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in heated oven or microwave oven.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Ensure that the cord is kept well away from the cooking surfaces at all times while
in use or when the unit is hot.
• With the thermostat set to MIN, plug the appliance in an electrical outlet.
The red light will light up. NOTE: When the thermostat has reached operating temperature, a green indicator light inside the chosen control will indicate that the appliance is ready for cooking. The green (READY) light may turn on and MIN during cooking. This is normal and indicates that the thermostat is maintaining the proper cooking temperature to grill to perfection.
• Position the grease collecting drip tray near the spout on the right side of the appliance.
WARNING: THE TOP COVER GETS VERY HOT. KEEP HANDS AND OTHER OBJECTS AWAY FROM IT.

TO USE
(Read the instructions before use)
WARNING: Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handle of the product.
1. When ready to use, lightly-coat the surface of the grill plates with cooking oil or
butter and wipe with a paper towel. Repeat as necessary for a longer lasting non-stick surface.
2. Turn the unit on by plugging it into a standard electrical outlet. Verify that the power
indicator light illuminates in orange. WARNING: The cooking plates and metal surfaces of the unit will become extremely hot when in use. To avoid a burn hazard, wear heat resistant mitts or gloves and touch only the black portion of the handle.
3. After the unit preheats for approximately ve minutes, the ready indicator light will
illuminate in green, indicating the product is ready for use.
A. Always exercise caution when handling the appliance during cooking – the appliance will
become hot during use. To open the appliance, always use the black plastic area of the handle. This part of the handle stays cool to the touch while cooking. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before handling or moving.
B. To remove the grill plates, press the plate release buttons, and take out the plates.
NOTE: Due to the initial heating of the materials used in the manufacturing of the product, some light smoke/vapors may be released when used initially. This is normal.
CAUTION: Do not use this product to cook or defrost frozen food. All food must be completely defrosted before cooking it with this product.

4. Use the handle to lift the upper plate of the grill. Place food on the lower plate using
wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils.
CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils on this product, as they will scratch and damage the Plates’ non-stick coating.
5. Use the Handle to lower and rest the upper plate on top of the food.
NOTES:
•The cooking time for different foods depends on the type and thickness of the foods.
•Foods should be cooked thoroughly before consumption.
•The oating hinge is designed to press down on the food evenly
6. When the food is cooked as desired, lift the handle to open the plates, then remove
the food using the utensils. If more cooking will be done at this time, close the plates to conserve heat.
7. Repeat Steps 3-5 until cooking is complete, reapplying cooking oil as necessary.
8. Turn temperature control to MIN and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Pull directly on the plug – do not pull on the power cord.
9. When the unit has completely cooled, clean and dry the grill prior to storage.
TO USE AS A CONTACT GRILL (to cook burgers, steak, poultry, bacon, vegetables, etc.):
NOTE: The grill should be unplugged during this setup.
1. To use as an open grill, raise the upper plate by lifting the handle with your left hand while sliding the locking latch towards the handle with your right hand.
2. Push the handle back until the handle rests at directly on the counter or table. The upper plate should now be completely leveled with the lower plate – creating one large cooking surface.
3. Place the grease collecting drip trays near each spout on the right side of the appliance.
4. Plug in the grill and set to the desired cooking temperature. Apply oil or butter to the cooking surface and begin grilling.
