1. To turn on the heater, first turn on switch ‘1’. The top heating element of the heater will now glow. (Note: the thermostat has no effect in this lowest heat mode).
2. For high heat (without fan-assist), turn on the switches ‘1’ and ‘2’. The top and bottom heating elements will now glow, and the fan will turn on. Adjust the thermostat as desired.
3. To turn the unit off, select the OFF power setting and set the thermostat control to the MIN position, then unplug the heater at the power point. Allow the heater to cool down before restarting it, if required.
NOTE: The heater will take some time to cool after the power is shut off. Always wait until it has cooled down before moving the heater, and then use the built-in carry handle for ease of movement.
NOTE: When turning your heater on for the first time it is normal for the heater
to
emit a ‘new heater’
smell, which will quickly pass. There is no cause for concern. Ensure there is good ventilation.
NOTE: When this device is overheated it is automatically turned off by a special security system. Unplug the device and let it cool down before activating it again.
Overheating protection
The heater is fitted with an overheating protection which switches the appliance off automatically if it becomes too hot internally. If this occurs, switch the heater off, unplug it and inspect and remove any objects on or adjacent to the heater that may cause high temperatures. Wait 5-10 minutes for the unit to cool down. While this feature provides additional safety in case of overheating, first and foremost you should make sure to eliminate all potential reasons that can lead to overheating and create a fire rise
THERMOSTAT Your heater is also fitted with thermostat. This is the large rotary knob situated under the switches. Heater will maintain the desired room temperature you select by turning the knob. Turn clockwise to maintain a higher temperature; anti-clockwise for a lower temperature. When the desired room temperature is reached, the thermostat will automatically switch off the bottom element only. If the room temperature drops below the desired comfort level, the thermostat will automatically switch the bottom element back on and so forth, maintaining your desired comfort level.
Preventing
overheating
To prevent overheating, check and ensure that the appliance can sufficiently dissipate the heat generated. This is particularly important in case the overheat protection has been activated.
Is the appliance covered?
Make sure the unit is NOT covered.
Is the appliance too close to a wall or other obstacle? Always maintain a minimum clearance of 50cm to
any furniture or wall.
Are the grilles on the front or back clear? Make sure the air intake and outlet grilles are free of dust, lint
and
obstructions.
If you cannot eliminate the problem, and the overheating
protection
triggers a second time, contact our
customer service support and arrange for return of the appliance for inspection or repair.
Page 7
Note: The thermostat has no effect when the heater is in the lowest heat mode. i.e. when only switch ‘1’ is on.
TIP-OVER PROTECTION
This heater is equipped with a tip-over protection switch that is activated when the heater is tipped from its vertical position and automatically shuts off the heater. The heater will restart when it is returned to its normal operating position.
Note: It is normal when the heaters are turned on for the first time or when they are turned on after having not been used for a long period of time to emit some smell and fumes. This will disappear when the heater has been on for a short while.
NOTE: Do not place the heater on LONG PILE CARPET OR FLOKATI RUGS. Use a heat board if necessary.
CLEANING
The heater requires regular cleaning to ensure trouble free operation:
Unplug the heater from the mains supply before cleaning.
Ensure that the heater has been allowed to cool down first before cleaning.
Use a damp cloth (not wet) to wipe the exterior of the heater to remove dust and dirt.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove and dust and fluff from around the grilles.
Do not allow any water or other liquid to enter the housing or control panel.
Ensure the heater is dry before plugging back into the mains supply.
