• If you want to use Manual Mode, the control must be
wired through a switch.
• Some codes require installation by a qualified
electrician.
• This product is intended for use with the enclosed
gasket and with a junction box marked for use in wet
locations.
• The backplate has knockouts so the sensor can be
mounted on most junction boxes.
• In some applications a universal adaptor plate may
be needed. Adaptors are available at Home Centers
and Electrical Supply Stores.
NOTE:DualZone™ adds a zone of detection under
the motion sensor. DualZone™ requires no additional
adjustment and operates in conjuction with the forward-looking sensor.

INSTALLATION
For easy installation, select an existing light with a wall
switch for replacement.
For best performance, mount the fixture about 8 ft. (2.4 m)
above the ground.
8 ft. (2.4 m), aiming the sensor down will reduce coverage
distance.
NOTE:
If fixture is mounted higher than
Mount the Light Control
1. Align the light control cover plate and cover plate
gasket and the junction box. Insert and tighten the
mounting screws.
2. If not installed on a weatherproof box or if an adaptor plate is used, caulk the wall plate and mounting
surface with silicone weather sealant.
❒ Attach the lamp arm to the
backplate arm and secure
with the long bolt.
Note: When tightening the arm
screw, pull on the wires to make
sure the wires are not pinched
by the joint.
❒ Drill out the holes if needed
to mount the backplate to
the junction box.
Wire the Light Control
WARNING: Turn power off at the fuse or circuit
breaker.
1. Remove the existing light fixture.
2. The S-hook can be used to hold the fixture while
wiring. The small end of the hook can be inserted
into a hole in the junction box. The large end goes
around the “neck” of the fixture.
3. Route the light control’s wires through the large
gasket hole.
4. Twist the junction box wires and fixture wires together
as shown. Secure with a wire connector.

MOUNT HORIZONTALLY
The halogen light must be
mounted horizontally (+/- 4°)
CAUTION: For proper operation and safety, the
sensor head must be rotated so that the controls
are on the bottom. Keep the lamp head at least 2" (51
mm) from the sensor.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
LIGHTED LAMP PRODUCES EXCESSIVE HEAT
WARNING: In order to reduce the risk of FIRE,
ELECTRIC SHOCK, (EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE
UV RADIATION) or injury to Persons, please follow
these Safety Instructions.
1. Keep lamp at least 24" (61 cm) from flammable materials such as paper, cardboard, wood, and fabrics.
Do not aim at objects closer than 3 feet (1 m).
2. Bodily injury can occur from close contact to base
or front of lamp and lamp guard.
3. Do not look directly into lamp.
4. Do not operate with missing or damaged lamp
containment barrier (glass cover).
Bulb Replacement
Replace with type T halogen, 500 W maximum, 120
VAC lamp only.
a. Disconnect fixture from power source and allow 20
minutes to cool.
b. Remove glass cover and remove the old bulb by
pushing the bulb towards the right until the left side
of the bulb is clear of the left socket.
c. Do not handle bulb with bare skin. Use clean gloves
or a cloth to install new bulb. To insert the new bulb,
push the bulb into the right socket so the bulb fits
completely into the left socket.
Note: Oil from skin can greatly reduce Bulb life.
d. Check that the bulb is seated properly.
e. Reinstall the glass cover.

TEST AND ADJUSTMENT
1. Turn on the circuit breaker and light switch.
NOTE: Sensor has a 1 1/2 minute warm up period
before it will detect motion. When first turned
on, wait 1 1/2 minutes.
2. Turn the RANGE control to the medium position
(halfway between MIN and MAX), DualBrite® to OFF,
and the ON-TIME control to the TEST position.
Put ON-TIME switch in the 1, 5,
or 20 minute position.
MANUAL MODE
Manual mode only works at night
because daylight returns the sensor
to AUTO.
Flip the light switch off for one second
then back on to toggle between AUTO
and MANUAL MODE.
Manual mode works only with the
ON-TIME switch in the 1, 5, or 20
position.

IMPORTANT
Avoid aiming the sensor at:
• Objects that change temperature rapidly, such as
heating vents and air conditioners. These heat
sources could cause false triggering.
• Areas where pets or traffic may trigger the control.
may trigger the shut-off feature. Do not point other
lights at the sensor.

Final Settings
1. Secure the sensor head's
aim by tightening the clamp
screw. Do not overtighten
the screw.
2. Adjust the RANGE as
needed. RANGE set too
high may increase false
triggering.
3. Set the amount of TIME you want the lights to stay
on after motion is detected (1, 5, or 20 minutes).
4. Set the DualBrite® switch to the amount of time after dusk you want the lights on at low level (Off, 3,
6 Hrs., Dusk-to-Dawn). Selecting OFF defeats only
the dim mode. If motion is sensed, the light turns
on full bright for the ON-TIME (1, 5, or 20 minutes)
then returns to dim mode.
WARNING: Risk of fire. Do not aim the bulbs
at a combustible surface within 3 ft. (1 m).

1. Light control may be sensing small animals or automobile traffic.
2. Range is set too high.
3. DualBrite® timer is on.
Light control may be installed in a relatively dark location.
1. A flood lamp is positioned too close to the light control
or pointed at nearby objects that cause heat to trigger
the light control.
2. The light control may be picking up a heat source
like an air vent, dryer vent, or brightly painted, heatreflective surface.
3. Light control is in manual mode.
1. Heat or light from the flood lamp may be turning the
light control on and off.
2. Heat being reflected from other objects may be turning the light control on and off.
3. Light control is in the TEST mode and warming up.
Light control is detecting its own light.Reposition flood lamp to keep area below the light
1. Turn light switch on.
2. Check flood lamp and replace if burned out.
3. Replace fuse or turn circuit breaker on.
4. Recheck after dark.
5. Verify wiring is correct.
6. Re-aim sensor to cover desired area. Increase sensitivity.
1. Relocate light fixture to another junction box with
increased amount of daylight.
2. Set control switch to 1, 5, or 10 minutes.
1. Re-aim light control.
2. Reduce range. Turn Range Boost off.
3. Turn DualBrite® Timer off.
Relocate light control, or use 3 hr. or 6 hr. setting.
1. Reposition the flood lamp away from the light control
or nearby objects.
2. Reduce range. Re-aim sensor. Turn Range Boost
off.
3. Switch light control to AUTO.
1. Reposition the flood lamp away from the light control.
